Model X - creaking suspension / worn front control arms

Hi Sean, you mentioned that the upper control arms were replaced. Can you describe the symptoms that would indicate they needed changing? Thanks!

Option when purchasing to select 18" instead of 20" on Model 3 performance

Thank you for your insight Gauss Guzzler. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2021/2022 M3P and I have 19" aftermarket wheels that I'm planning to replace the 20" uberturbine wheels with but was kinda hesitant to go through the process of selling them.

M3P ride stiffer the non P?

Quick question...the M3P is lowered compared to the other M3 variants. Is the ride that much stiffer/bumpier?

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I'm looking to pull the trigger on the M3P. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to select the 18" wheels instead of the 20" and whether there's a credit if I take the 18"?

Smelly AC not covered under Warranty on new cars?

I totally agree with vickh. I have NEVER had this issue with the 10 cars I've owned - American-German-Japanese (No Korean, Swedish). This "vinegar" odor may be a health hazard...in the long run...who knows what it does to our lungs. This is definitely a design flaw by Tesla. If there are...

Model 3 Tires, Tire Sizes, Types, make / model recommendations, tire discussions, etc

I used Wheel Offset Calculator to see what the effect would be. See attachment. 1. Will I have any rubbing issues when I perform a 100% wheel turn if I go with the 265-35-19? 2. Anyone know how much of a efficiency hit I will take since the tire width will change from 9.3" to 10.4"? 3. I may...

    My "No Spare Tire" Kit

Thanks for the heads up on this DaFunGuy. I checked the link you provided and it did not indicate the amperage requirements. On this thread, there's concern that the cig adapter is 12 amps and using anything requiring > 12 amps may blow the fuse. Can you check if the amperage is indicated in...

Upgrade wheel + tire but got a question

I have a Stealth Performance M3. I was looking at T S p o r t l i n e wheels and I asked whether they could replace the 235/40/19 tire with a +1 size (255/35/19) when I purchase the wheel+tire package. They would not do the +1 size, they say they do not recommend it. Using this online...

What to do with flooded streets? how high?

Thanks for the heads up fajitamondays! This can be quite disconcerting to owners of the Model Y. You purchase a SUV Ev and expect it to perform like a SUV but it cannot. I was thinking of trading up to the Model Y in a few years when I get tired of having to bend to sit in the car. I...

What to do with flooded streets? how high?

So, we have a lot of opinions on this topic but opinions are just opinions. Summer is here and so are the thunderstorms. What is considered a "safe" level of standing water a Tesla Model 3 can traverse? Most people buy the Model Y for the space and the higher seating. I know an added benefit...

Notable Hints to add after 8 mths of operation

FYI. I got the plain Suma mirrors, non blue, $149.00. There were two push on connectors that I connected. The third may be for dimming or for the defroster. Use a pointed pliers to extract them since they are on pretty tight. Just to be cautious, since both are black, after detaching the wire...

Notable Hints to add after 8 mths of operation

I typically drive on the interstate where I find myself on multi lane (3-5) lanes and I have to maneuver around vehicles. I agree with what TLLMRRJ posted. I have my mirrors positioned just like that. I went 2+ more steps. I bought a convex mirror that attaches to my rear view mirror. It's 14"...

Notable Hints to add after 8 mths of operation

Rain was pouring and wiper was on as I pulled up to speak at the drive thru to order. As soon as I cracked my window to order and the wiper began to wipe from bottom of windshield, all the water wiped came into the car. Since it was raining hard, a $*it load of water came in and soaked the...

Why is fan running when car is parked both in garage and outside?

Good point Resist. I did not consider to check if it was the ac or not. But, I do recall the fan running when the car was in the garage and it was not driven recent to that instance so if it was cooling the battery I wonder why.

Why is fan running when car is parked both in garage and outside?

I live in SoFl and I don't have a dog. Lately, I noticed when my car is parked in the driveway and I approach it to drive I hear the fan running. I did not hear it turn on as I approached it. I didn't think much of it at the time. On another occasion, I went in the garage, no BT key in hand...

Is the Tesla 'T' emblem on trunk standard across all Model 3s?

Is the Tesla 'T' emblem on trunk standard across all Model 3s?

Nice, an option to definitely consider. One concern is that when washing, how well will it hold up , if the edge of one of the letters catch the sponge or cloth and yanks it off, how well can we reapply since the backing adhesive may be reduced because of the soapy water.

Is the Tesla 'T' emblem on trunk standard across all Model 3s?

My stealth was delivered in Q3 2019, Florida. I have the Dual Motor with red underline bar but do not have the T emblem. I notice in YouTube vids, some do have it. Is this part of performance package only? If not, if I was supposed to get it does this warrant a service action or is it too late?

MASTER THREAD: Rear view camera image goes black [2019-2020]

Thanks all for chiming in. Backing up the Model3 is no ez task without the backup cam. when we initially got the car we become reliant on the camera. The excellent visibility provided by the cam makes us kinda spoilt. So, when we lose that capability it can pose a real issue especially at night...

22% depreciation in 8 months [Update: sold it for 5.4% less than new price]

If you luv the Tesla brand/Model 3/M3P+/- and you can afford to take the financial hit, trade in the car. Who are we to judge your $ situation. That's what $ is for, provide you with happiness where possible.

Sweeping left curve, I have P3d-, I find I have to adjust my steering inputs

I have the Performance stealth. I believe since I have awd, I may have to gauge my steering input more cautiously since the steering is so responsive to very little input. Sweeping left curve, I have P3d-, I find I have to adjust my steering inputs

I'm driving leisurely to and from work in heavy traffic so most of the time I'm in comfort mode... the sweeping curves occur when I'm exiting from one highway and entering another.

Poor side mirrors coverage... found a way to eliminate blindspots...

Poor side mirrors coverage... found a way to eliminate blindspots...

I turned my rear camera on! On multi-lane highway, it really helps since the camera has wide-angled lens. What would be awesome is if Tesla could stitch both the side cameras views to give us 180° coverage. I wonder if having the rear camera constantly on would demand a higher power...

Group buy for Model3 front fascia?

As in any business, if there's enough interest shown and the business wants to move a product then they do what makes sense to make $. Having inventory of a product on a shelf is helping no one. There is a sunk cost to make the mould so, every product they subsequently make increases their...

Group buy for Model3 front fascia?

Model 3s are becoming ubiquitous. Especially since there are no cost color options. Looking to see if there's an interest to buy the front fascia. Maybe with a group buy the price can drop to where it's more affordable since additional cost is required to remove, paint and install. Ascension...

    MASTER THREAD: Floor Mats

Yes, definitely post your comments. The ad says it's 100% rubber. If it's anything like the rubber mats we can get from auto stores, after a while they eventually tear from your heel resting in one area. The material is unlike the hard durable material the $200 mats are made of. But, if the...

Thanks Rocky_H, you are right about that and yes, I know it would require a rewire, I just wanted to know because in the not too distant future I may get another EV and sharing may become an issue. My daily commute is 80miles +/- unanticipated running around. Thanks for the heads up!!
