Just an update on the status of this. The Decatur service center covered the tow to Atlanta. The manager there, Ken, was very, very nice and apologetic that I went through that stress. The car is being checked out now. I also let him know about a strange "clunk" I have been hearing lately... -

I found it interesting that I did not have an issue or any warning about the battery being low until I plugged into the SC station. Not too sure if that's just a coincidence. My thought about the out of warranty comment is to get AAA Premier as for $129 they'll tow you 200 miles on a single tow... -
