People were saying that about phantom braking 4 years ago when I got my car. If it was easy to solve they would have by now. Don't hold your breath.

What hardware was deleted? Regen adjustability is still in the hardware. The CAN bus commands are still present and you can control the regen level on even the newest cars with S3XY buttons. The lack of adjustability is just from Tesla removing the slider in the UI for newer cars.

Tesla has completely lost it regarding software. I mean forcing all your customers to essentially always be on beta level builds is frustrating enough (I would love a 'boring' option with only ~2 updates a year). But if you are going to use your customers as beta testers, YOU CAN"T MAKE IT...

Yes, we are talking about the 3/Y. Prior to the Holiday "Update" we had that info in an easy to show cards that we could get to quickly and leave on the screen if we wanted without covering up the map. V11 took that all away.

Not technically true, you just get offered far fewer updates. I get an update downloaded every few months over LTE only.

From the yoke tare-downs I have seen there is no airbag horn switch in the refreshed S/X currently. There is a hardware revision coming supposedly that will bring that to new (not existing) cars.

Yeah, it's not fantastic. But it is a function of big wide tires and the wheels being out at the corners of the car. But those things do make the handling and ride better, so you win some you loose some. Also makes the cabin space larger.

I love the minimal interior of my Model 3, but I do maintain that Tesla went about ~10% too far with the removal of physical controls. Unfortunately that ~10% can add a tone of inconvenience/annoyance (wiper controls, etc). The V11 UI dumpster fire has also really not helped.

They just need to use the in-car camera and a neural net to look for driver glasses and gray hair and automatically adjust font size :P Or you know, give a setting so everybody is happy.

Agreed. But also, even nearly perfect automation always needs to be optional (and easily manually controllable if the driver desires). Auto function for the seat heaters (or wipers, or headlights, etc) was never a legitimate excuse to make them less convenient to use manually. Crappy...

If the HVAC is off (and the seats are off and not in 'auto') and and you then put the HVAC in 'auto', does that automatically put the seats back into auto?

That was what I was worried about. DO. NOT. WANT. But I am hearing conflicting things on this from different people. Is it different in the 3/Y vs the S/X?

Pardon me for not heaping praise on our living-god cult leader for adding a few buttons back that should never have been taken away. And taking months to do it. Am I happy they are back? Hell yeah. Do I suddenly have trust in Tesla? Hell no.

Yeah, it's so elegant when you are driving at night in light rain and your wife is trying to sleep in the passenger seat. Constant voice commands to adjust the wipers up and down, turn on the defoger, etc. Please, even if the voice commands worked perfectly they would still be clunky, slow...

I have no idea what will come next. Things could get better. They could also clearly get worse. But regression in driver controls sucks big time. And since Tesla has NO communication with owners (and no real evidence they are listening to feedback) we have absolutely no idea what they are doing...

I am not sure which is the more comforting scenario: V11 is the result of A) incompetence, or B) intentional design. Both suck.

There are no electric mini/micro vans currently, so a totally un-served segment. Some people want this kind of vehicle, and if so this is the only choice coming to market any time soon.

I have not updated in over a year, so I am biased :) You might want to check (by pulling up the reverse+side camera view) if you have the light leak issue in the side cameras from the turn signals. If so, it might make the side view cameras a little less useful. Also, don't assume the seat...

No, it still does since the 3/Y have been using both 3G and LTE. There may be issues with some functions not working properly once the 3G is actually turned off since 3G appears to be the default pathway for some things, even though we all also have LTE. Some are more knowledgeable about this...

The car will still download a few updates over LTE, but a lot fewer than with WiFi on. I have had WiFi off since December 2020 (in retrospect a fantastic idea). I think I have gotten about 5 updates downloaded over LTE since then, I just refused them and lived with the nag for a few weeks each...
