    Version 2022.16.x

This is absolutely not true. The newer cars have the same (hardware) ability to vary regen, it is just a software lockout in the Tesla UI. The cars still adjust regen based on SOC and temperature, and all the CAN commands are still present on the car bus to adjust regen level (and the the...

2022.16.1.1 is now rolling out globally.

People were saying that about phantom braking 4 years ago when I got my car. If it was easy to solve they would have by now. Don't hold your breath.

    Regenerative Braking Option after 2022.16.1

What hardware was deleted? Regen adjustability is still in the hardware. The CAN bus commands are still present and you can control the regen level on even the newest cars with S3XY buttons. The lack of adjustability is just from Tesla removing the slider in the UI for newer cars.

    Version 2022.16.x

Tesla has completely lost it regarding software. I mean forcing all your customers to essentially always be on beta level builds is frustrating enough (I would love a 'boring' option with only ~2 updates a year). But if you are going to use your customers as beta testers, YOU CAN"T MAKE IT...

2022 Apple CarPlay update vs Tesla UI

Sure, looks great. And it will be until the first UI 'refresh' ruins it or takes away something about it you loved. I don't really trust any company to both A) get it right, and B) not screw it up with updates later. More and more I don't want any company to be able to mess with what I own after...

Anyone actually missing trip info and tyre pressure cards more than heated seats and defroster buttons?

Yes, we are talking about the 3/Y. Prior to the Holiday "Update" we had that info in an easy to show cards that we could get to quickly and leave on the screen if we wanted without covering up the map. V11 took that all away.

    Supercharger - Lamar, PA

New Supercharger coming to Lamar, PA. Under construction. Adds a nice location along I80 for sure. Reposed to our local State College Tesla Owners Group on Facebook. Video posted by the host establishment, which I believe is publicly viewable (I can't tell how many stalls though):

    Wifi for update notifications?

Not technically true, you just get offered far fewer updates. I get an update downloaded every few months over LTE only.
  10. smogne41

    Version 2022.16.x

From the yoke tare-downs I have seen there is no airbag horn switch in the refreshed S/X currently. There is a hardware revision coming supposedly that will bring that to new (not existing) cars.
  11. smogne41

Everything wrong with V11 update / user interface.

Tesla is also hitting one of the things that plagues most of the software industry in a very negative way: Imposing updates on already mature interfaces. It almost never goes well, especially at first. Usually you have your UI interactions well optimized after a few major iterations of your...

    2022.12.3.1

Yeah, it's not fantastic. But it is a function of big wide tires and the wheels being out at the corners of the car. But those things do make the handling and ride better, so you win some you loose some. Also makes the cabin space larger.

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

Thankfully there is probably no pressure from the suits on the firmware devs to 'keep it looking fresh'.

    Tesla UI vs Others

I love the minimal interior of my Model 3, but I do maintain that Tesla went about ~10% too far with the removal of physical controls. Unfortunately that ~10% can add a tone of inconvenience/annoyance (wiper controls, etc). The V11 UI dumpster fire has also really not helped.
  16. smogne41

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

It is supposed to already have that, it just seems to not work in any logical or reliable way.
  17. smogne41

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

Which driving or climate-related function went from 2 (or more) taps on V10 to 1 tap on V11?
  18. smogne41

2022.8.3 - screen font is HUGE

They just need to use the in-car camera and a neural net to look for driver glasses and gray hair and automatically adjust font size :P Or you know, give a setting so everybody is happy.
  19. smogne41

2022.8.3 - screen font is HUGE

But is the speedometer any bigger? (there was a decent number of complaints about that). Honestly the bigger fonts in the photo above look good, and better readability for a safety critical display is better even if you think it looks dorky or some such. Now if they switched to comic sans I...

    2022.12.x

Not ideal for me, but now that there are buttons I can put in the bar I can at least turn them back off. I don't usually like auto functions in general, especially ones that come back on their own.
  21. smogne41

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

Agreed. But also, even nearly perfect automation always needs to be optional (and easily manually controllable if the driver desires). Auto function for the seat heaters (or wipers, or headlights, etc) was never a legitimate excuse to make them less convenient to use manually. Crappy...
  22. smogne41

    2022.12.x

If the HVAC is off (and the seats are off and not in 'auto') and and you then put the HVAC in 'auto', does that automatically put the seats back into auto?
  23. smogne41

    2022.12.x

That was what I was worried about. DO. NOT. WANT. But I am hearing conflicting things on this from different people. Is it different in the 3/Y vs the S/X?
  24. smogne41

    2022.12.x

Do they stay off, or get switched back into 'auto' every so often?
  25. smogne41

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

Pardon me for not heaping praise on our living-god cult leader for adding a few buttons back that should never have been taken away. And taking months to do it. Am I happy they are back? Hell yeah. Do I suddenly have trust in Tesla? Hell no.
  26. smogne41

    2022.12.x

Exactly, so not (safely) available when driving.
  27. smogne41

    2022.12.x

Glad they finally did this. Not quite ready to upgrade yet, but this address some of the major issues. Now we just need a way to display trip odo and trip power consumption.
  28. smogne41

    Poll on V11 interface

Clearly you should just have to check your speed with a voice command.
  29. smogne41

    Still hate v11

Yeah, it's so elegant when you are driving at night in light rain and your wife is trying to sleep in the passenger seat. Constant voice commands to adjust the wipers up and down, turn on the defoger, etc. Please, even if the voice commands worked perfectly they would still be clunky, slow...

    Still hate v11

"Additional Bottom Bar Customization" could mean a lot of things. Hoping for the best, but prepared for just an extra button slot or some such :)
  31. smogne41

Is there a voice command "Turn Fog Lights on" that works?

They used to be. They still are on my V9 car.
  32. smogne41

Do Some V11 Issues Warrant NHTSHA Reporting? Here's How to Do It.

Fantastic if true. Will believe it when I see it.
  33. smogne41

    Still hate v11

I have no idea what will come next. Things could get better. They could also clearly get worse. But regression in driver controls sucks big time. And since Tesla has NO communication with owners (and no real evidence they are listening to feedback) we have absolutely no idea what they are doing...
  34. smogne41

    Still hate v11

I am not sure which is the more comforting scenario: V11 is the result of A) incompetence, or B) intentional design. Both suck.
  35. smogne41

Is there a voice command "Turn Fog Lights on" that works?

Hold down the right scroll wheel and hope for the best :)
  36. smogne41

What's your next EV after Tesla?

There are no electric mini/micro vans currently, so a totally un-served segment. Some people want this kind of vehicle, and if so this is the only choice coming to market any time soon.
  37. smogne41

    Still hate v11

Wait, who go fired? I missed that piece of good news.
  38. smogne41

    V11 2022.4.5 doesn't remember USB source

There is an aftermarket product for that: https://tparts.us/collections/interior-accessories-model-3/products/console-data-transmission-module
  39. smogne41

What's your next EV after Tesla?

I hope they eventually make a car because I don't actually want a pickup/giant SUV right now. But I am very impressed with their product.
  40. smogne41

    A Digital Designer's POV on V11

High running costs whenever you run on hydrogen that is (the fuel is expensive). Also, the car has a finite service life (read the text on the fuel filler lid on the Toyota Mirai, you can't fill it past a certain date because hydrogen breaks down the materials in the hydrogen system) Regarding...
  41. smogne41

What's your next EV after Tesla?

Indeed. Porsche really has a leg up in this regard thanks to their rear engine heritage. And the Taycan shows it.
  42. smogne41

    A Digital Designer's POV on V11

If you want a car with high running cost, limited life, poor performance, and extremely compromised internal space utilization fuel cells are fantastic. Also, most of those are not really going to be easily improved upon, they are inherent in the physics of fuel cells. Fuel cells make a lot more...
  43. smogne41

Auto headlights with wipers function deleted

That would have made V11 an actual upgrade, and not a frustrating dumpster fire. We can't go having that...

After Service, Firmware reset to 2021.40.6

I have not updated in over a year, so I am biased :) You might want to check (by pulling up the reverse+side camera view) if you have the light leak issue in the side cameras from the turn signals. If so, it might make the side view cameras a little less useful. Also, don't assume the seat...
  45. smogne41

After Service, Firmware reset to 2021.40.6

No, it still does since the 3/Y have been using both 3G and LTE. There may be issues with some functions not working properly once the 3G is actually turned off since 3G appears to be the default pathway for some things, even though we all also have LTE. Some are more knowledgeable about this...
  46. smogne41

After Service, Firmware reset to 2021.40.6

Probably just related to the impending shutdown of 3G. You will probably be fine, at least for a while (the rest of us on older firmware still are fine, despite the popup in the car a while ago saying we had to update immediately). The AT&T 3G shutdown has not really happened yet though, so we...
  47. smogne41

    2022.8.2

The car will still download a few updates over LTE, but a lot fewer than with WiFi on. I have had WiFi off since December 2020 (in retrospect a fantastic idea). I think I have gotten about 5 updates downloaded over LTE since then, I just refused them and lived with the nag for a few weeks each...
