Service says $22k for new battery on 2012 Model S

Jumping in here from Germany - no matter how long the bat lasts - it's shady that tesla locks the gateway for 3rd party repairs and you need Russion/Ukrainian hacker services that charge you 500bucks for the few hours they give you remotely exploited root session on MCU2. It's the reason I am...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Sitting In the glass house with rocks …. Thinking of the charge gate ota on all 85 packs to get over the warranty period and make sure to only give refurb packs to sc01 suc-flat customers while simultaneously pushing cheap mcu2 units that lock owners out of gateway to purchase and swap...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Same in Germany - networks are growing and CCS is much cheaper than SuC (well SC01 like myself excluded)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Am I the only downvote here? Not arguing on design/taste … Tesla built what they needed at the time, but isn‘t Tesla Plug in US at the edge of Amp Limit whereas CCS has still room to grow above 400A? EDIT: I stand corrected, I had the EU-Tesla-Plug in mind - the Mid Typ2 DC solution using the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yes, SuC Network is reliable - but in Europe it's lacking smart-placement, long-cables for non Teslas and in most places ... and roofs. In US additionally CCS retrofit is needed (already done in Europe).

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

well today I connect my iPhone via bt as tesla still doesn’t support carplay and no app support either …. Not sure about the future, but CarPlay today would be nice

So? Is this the EoQ recognition push to smooth the numbers?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

BTW: in Linux 5.18 Tesla provided FSD driver support to upstream kernel, meaning they opensourced the FSD drivers, probably to save maintenance on out-of-tree patching. The Kernel Mailinglist has their own kind of humor :D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

at 41:23 he mentions the SuC NEtwork as a Profitble Business - they run it internally as such - so why no reporting? I'd love to see the numbers

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I‘m all for Tesla owning the Charging Game for all EVs - BUT there needs to be a new SuC Stall design for all “edge“cases: Trailers, other EVs etc… I am waiting to see some new Stall design that has a longer cable somehow and will be placed in the middle of the spot, not the edge - I don‘t...

    Hv battery replacement

Yes please - any updates here in the meantime? You americans can be happy as you are plessed with 3rd party options at all - in Germany it's Tesla SeC or nothing :( EDIT: well at least we got strong consumer protection laws, but noone wants to deal with legal battles

Service says $22k for new battery on 2012 Model S

Well, mine did - it's 1 month left for my 2014 P85+ I'm on the second pack - let's see how this goes.

Vendor Tesla Model S Battery Extended Service Plans from 057 Technology

Don't wanna get too much OT - so keeping it investor centric: I am not sure how the opening of the SuC-Network will play out. US - In the home market Tesla is still using it's proprietary connector which to me is a bit odd going forward. Something has to give as the USA transitions to 100% EVs...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

For perspective - in Germany SuC have the „cheap“ locations outside the highways, sometimes a few miles/minutes ouf of the routes whereas „the competition“ aka. EnBW, Ionity and others are on the highway stations directly on-route and price-wise Tesla is expensive with 52ct/kwh compared to...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yes we're all on CCS2 plug - but taking the hassle out I won't agree with. The EU is good in designing compolex regulatory frameworks that allow non-vendor-locking solutions in a big scale across countries - in theory - so that's why CCS2 is only a plug definition, but the hole charging process...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Keep in mind that no manufacturer can deliver in time atm - and subsidies are getting cut, "innovationsprämie" ends FY22 - so next year 3k instead of 6k incentive. Also Tesla just raised the M3 SR by 7k effectively (including subsidies cut as M3SR+ leaving the high-subsidy bracket pricerange)...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I know Tesla is doing GridScale Batteries for a while - but as we all know cars are more profitable. I know that V2G on DC side is expensive because no player besides Tesla owns DC stations - Volkswagen is bringing a DC homecharger with v2g. Tesla owns the SuC, if the cars have FSD and...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I'm gonna ad another dimension - IF (big IF) FSD works /w automated SUC - then all those Cars can grid stabilize during idle anyway - Tesla could clean/tire-rotate during SUC Session - the car would be a Megapack 30-40% and a Robotaxi 50% of the time - my mind is exploding as I type. Tesla...

I would love to hear a sidenote at the Shareholder Meeting or some other event where Elon explains how they overpaid a bit for fixed-price multi-year agreements in 2021 to accomodate a possible shortage on material during EV S-curve adoption - just to find out they got an unbelievable stable...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is the thing that boggles my mind - I am installing solar this year and a home-battery with 10kwh for ~500€/kwh - while at the same time my Model S is sitting in my Garage 99% of the week - and 100% of the nights (vacations/travel by car excluded). If we all agree batteries are the...

This to me would be the real Musk commitment - if his next package includes FSD or Optimus then I'm a believer. On the other hand - we're still not done with "Enable your car to make money for you when you aren't using it" from Part deux.

Well - now order the trailer hitch and tow something - back to 200miles pretty quickly - I say let’s get on-par with major ICE platforms and agree around the 500-600 mile mark

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Why? CCS2 is around 350kw today - still same charging time as any other EV, just higher power right? At 1,5C around 50minutes 10-80 I`d guess - that's better than my nerfed P85+ ;)

What about Laser Headlights? i.e. BMW had one of the first cars with laser lights in 2013 with the i8 in the triple digits - now you can get laser lights on most mid-range BMW vehicles as option package. I guess that's the disadvantage of vertical integration - you can't just buy into all fancy...

Isn't the consensus that Tesla has stopped work on more models for focus on FSD/GAI/BOT stuff? personally I'd love to see a smaller model from Berlin for Europe, Shanghai for Asia and Austin ... well US people don't buy small cars right? :) So which one is it - focus on SW or new Models - or...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Wait a minute - Tesla already uses robots where possible, specialized robots who don't need to worry about navigating through the factory on 2 legs and have special "heads"/"hands" for each job - Musk is on record to admit over-using robots in the beginning of "production hell" saying that for...

Me too - BUT - I think there is none - there's two plans now. IF (biiig IF) FSD works this year then full throttle RoboTaxi Plan with dedicated new vehicle architecture and Tosla Bot focus. IF FSD keeps hitting local maxima - stay on Model 2 route and scale to 20M cars a year by 2030 and see if...

Last one on this topic - there are examples where you jut get a better version of a part i.e. the doorhandles of the Model S today can be retrofitted to 2012 and they are vastly supperior in any way - GREAT But there are things that have dependencies in between i.e. my 2013 TPMS is the old...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I wanna mention Tesla's unique "rolling release" model of hardware iterations here - as they contantly revise/change/cut parts it seams to me more challenging to support a growing fleet of always non-latest generation i.e. my 2013 P85+ sunroof is version 2 or so - SeC told me if I need a fix...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

What do you mean? Tesla went from 8-years unlimited to 4years limited warranty - so the trend is lowering warranty not lengthening it, my 2014 P85+ has 5 months until I might pay ~20k to keep it alive after battery failure
  41. Baumisch

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Not opposing your vision - but if charging is faster than a burger, how do you charge at a fastfood let alone an eatery/restaurant w/o hassle of parking twice? We still don't have auto-plug, so FSD is unfortunately not the answer with current hw layout of SuC

Well not really, the predictibility of the user experience was superior on the odyssey to the tesla - which I can agree on more or less (my old P85+ needs reboots and stuff from time to time too). But in the same post he mentions being addicted to the electric drive experience - so he's not...
