Someone wanted it more than I did :)

    Yup - in March.

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

My EDD has slipped to October-November, about a full year after ordering. If rates are over 7% by then, count me out. I'll continue riding a bicycle, thanks.

    March 2022 Order Delivery Dates

My EDD just slipped by 2 weeks to Sept 10 >>. Can't say I'm that surprised but I'm still disappointed. Mine was a November order but I didn't finalize my profile until February or March.

Best charger setup for Canadian winters (can't park in garage)

We've had a Gen 2 wall connector outside in the harsh east coast elements since 2016. The thing that killed the charging connector was water buildup between it and a TeslaTap adaptor. Put the charger wherever you park. I vote option 4.

    Supercharging in Canada Too Expensive?

Hard disagree. Wholesale rates look cheap (in fact they are often negative), until you add back distribution, demand charges, and global adjustment charges (in Ontario anyway).

    November Orders

Seeing some chatter here that the date at which you complete your profile matters now. I know I was slow confirming my profile but after checking my inbox it would have been after the first week of February. I checked the source code and see a "last updated" timestamp indicating March 2nd. So...

100%. Ordered Nov 11, EDD September. No FSD. Great for gross margins, though.

Fairly widespread NB Power outage has taken down Aulac and the surrounding communities.

Info from Tesla - 277v feed to Wall Connector (HPWC) - Which Cars Support It

35% more power per amp will become even more attractive as the cost of copper climbs. Cost savings on the transformer side too... The charging speed thing is just a nice bonus.

Just in blue, with towing. Nothing special.

    November Orders

Crazy, my order date is also Nov 11, and I'm stuck with an EDD of late August.

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

That's been the Model Y range since at least mid 2021. Mine was delivered with 531km rated range. I don't know why they haven't advertised this.

Info from Tesla - 277v feed to Wall Connector (HPWC) - Which Cars Support It

Very cool. I wish more L2 infrastructure was wired with 277V. It's normal to see voltage drop under load. It's expected.

Insanity - NEVER RENT YOUR Tesla TO ANYONE!

Turo insures the car while on rental on their fleet policy. Their policy is in effect, not my own. My own would have nothing to do with it (though they were aware, and were fine with the arrangement).

Insanity - NEVER RENT YOUR Tesla TO ANYONE!

Rented mine on Turo for a few years (2 dozen rentals total) and never had an issue. My biggest fear was someone damaging the car or someone getting hurt, not writing off the car. A write off with no injuries seemed preferable - very cut and dry and I'd likely get a newer vehicle as a...

Why isn't everyone as upset about the Supercharger increase as I am?

Tesla is finally flexing its muscle to recoup Supercharging costs. We shouldn't expect cheap fast charging - there's too much capital involved, plus demand charges for these short bursts of usage. Tesla has not mitigated demand charges using stationary storage as a buffer. Maybe some day, but...

Have you seen the price of petrol lately?

I've been on the Tesla Train since 2013 or 2014. I think it's fair game to judge people for buying gas guzzlers, but the reality is that fully electric vehicles are still out of reach for many. We should choose our words carefully when we perhaps rightly point out the ridiculousness of the price...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Mine was always on Auto, and it found a way to self-destruct while pre-conditioning. I've noticed a much slower ramp up in recent software versions, as you say.

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

Ok we are getting somewhat spoiled for infrastructure right now but let me indulge in a 2022 wish list: - Q2 - Brockville, ON - a much needed 250kW option on the 401, and to bypass Cornwall which is always a PITA so far off the highway - Q2 - Vaudreuil, QC - fingers crossed this is a better...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Doubtful... I suffered a compressor failure and there was no indication they replaced anything but compressor, supermanifold, and lines. Unless one of those came with new sensors too.
  37. rypalmer

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Got my Model Y back. They replaced the compressor, supermanifold, and some AC lines as expected. Making all the right sounds now. Rolled into Toronto at about -18ºC last night (dirty as hell of a drive) and the heat worked as expected. Fingers crossed the saga is over.

Has your Tesla been hacked? Use Teslamate?

Doesn't seem Canada specific. But yeah guard your Tesla credentials carefully..

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

August 2021. Both being replaced tomorrow.
  40. rypalmer

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

It's because you have one or two drive units capable to generating a lot of heat both while in motion and stationary (see: "off-phase power" description). This is the part I can't figure out... why not just blast the heat from the drive units and save the drama with the compressor, if COP is ~1...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Pretty much.. my hot take on this (I'm no HVAC specialist - take it with a grain of salt) is a software bug or workaround or both caused the compressor to run so hard it self destructs, at temperatures below -15ºC. I had seen some crazy aggressive preconditioning energy usage, and the car was...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Nope - it's skipping Halifax and is heading to Quebec City ;) Thanks though!

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Update on my end.. Tesla is going to haul my car to be serviced, and provide a rental car in the mean time. Really happy they've been able to do a little better than a no-heat drive to Halifax weeks away.
  44. rypalmer

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I got this error two days before my HVAC stopped working completely. I'd say let them... and avoid the very cold until they do.

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

This seems like my issue exactly. Here's what mine sounds like:

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I'm somewhat skeptical of this since I am on the latest FW version already. But if we look at this tracker, it seems another update (2021.44.30.8) is pending.
