    Waypoints would be nice...

    Roadster 2023

I thought we’re talking about a free car? You wouldn’t have “bought” the free car since it’s free. Either you want it and will accept it, or you don’t accept and they don’t give you a free car.

    Roadster 2023

Couldn't they just... refuse to give it to you if you don't register it in your own name?

    V 11 for legacy Model S

Have any MCU1 cars received the update with waypoints?

    Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA

Waiting for Model S Plaid... and hoping they'd bring Plaid+ back by the time they start producing for RHD markets.
  6. C

Don't trust automatic gear selection on refreshed Model S.

That is not my experience with the stalk (2015 P85D). I often find that the first push does nothing, and I have to push it again to actually shift into D/R. But it's inconsistent - it sometimes works on first try.

Major Yoke concerns from Consumer Reports initial review

You can't please everyone. I guess I'm in the minority (citation needed?) that prefer the yacht floor. I wish they could offer these kind of things as options so we can all get what we want, but that seems impractical for them from a business perspective while they're still scaling up their...

    Yoke Steering

I find it extremely difficult to indicate left to exit the roundabout using a normal wheel/stalk, because my left hand (which holds the 9 o'clock of the wheel) would be roughly at 2 o'clock position as I move through the roundabout, but the indicator stalk is obviously still back at the 9...

    2021 Refresh Model S Discussion

I hope they at least add some tactile markings on the steering wheel buttons, so you can feel for them without looking.

    Thoughts on insurance liability

It was CommInsure vs Allianz, which don't seem to be owned by the same company. Oh well, another one of life's mysteries I guess :p

    Thoughts on insurance liability

Wouldn't this make it _more_ likely for them to increase my premium at renewal time though?

Model S range and interior update imminent?

Sounds great on paper, but it's still just air at the moment isn't it :D

    Thoughts on insurance liability

Different insurer. Maybe I did get lucky :p I didn't have rental car option on my policy. My insurer suggested I ask the other guy's insurer about it (even though I'm claiming with my own insurer... weird), so I did, and they suggested I organise one with one of these accident rental car...

    Thoughts on insurance liability

Is this always the case? Someone crashed into me earlier this year, I went through my own insurance as the non-at-fault party. My premium for next year actually went down...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Resale value I don’t know, but I would hope trade-in value isn’t affected in any way, since you’re trading it in with Tesla, and Tesla claims there’s nothing wrong with your car :)

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

This is part of the “batterygate”/“chargegate” changes that Tesla has been secretly making to older cars to avoid honouring their battery warranty. The reason is that our battery packs have degraded more than they expected, or there’s some other kind of manufacturing defect, and there’s a small...

2019.40.2 - got smart summon & ‘hands off’ summon

I meant stopping the car with the brake, just as Autopilot or my foot does.

2019.40.2 - got smart summon & ‘hands off’ summon

It wouldn’t use any more energy than us manually stepping on the brake, so why not.

Who is still waiting for 2019.36.X.X

2015 P85D, got 2019.36.2.7 on 27/11. No issues so far.

    Dashcam Power Source

I installed it as soon as I got the car, so wouldn't know what kind of power drain to expect without it. It loses 8–10km of range per night in the first few nights, then the car seems to go into a deeper sleep mode and the loss is much reduced. For example it would lose maybe just over 100km...

    Dashcam Power Source

I hardwired mine to the spare connector in the microphone grille. No issues in the past 4 years.

Has anyone retrofitted motorized charge port yet?

I have asked them about this every time I was in for service, and they always tell me it's not possible. You must be really lucky.

Summon stopped working after firmware update

Pretty sure that is only available in the US (maybe Canada?). Everywhere else in the world Summon can only be controlled by the phone app.

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

    I have a 2015 P85D. My 90% was 349 km prior to the 2019.16.x update, and now it’s 312 km :(

Feature request - Rear camera recording in Sentry mode.

I thought for the purpose of insurance claims etc, if you're hit from behind, the car behind you is always assumed to be at fault and there's no need to prove anything with a video.
  35. C

    MS backup camera difference?

Yes the newer versions of the camera have better image quality. Retrofit is possible; the instructions for the front-rear camera switch kit should get you most of the way there.
  36. C

    Should 2015 85D still be on 2018.50.6?

I've been on 2018.50.6 since Feb too, and only just got 2019.16.1.1 yesterday. I say give it a few more days, don't rush to call service just yet.

Tesla Delivery Payment - Credit Card

Interesting, I was not aware of an Amex card that can transfer to QFF at 1:1.5 (or in fact any points-doubling promos in the first place).
  38. C

Tesla Delivery Payment - Credit Card

Does this really work out to be profitable? Qantas points are valued around $0.01/pt, and assuming you get 2 points per dollar spent (after doubling), you're still paying more in surcharge.

2170 cells in Model S/X prognostications welcome here

Maybe they can arrange the cells horizontally or at an angle to maintain the existing pack dimensions.

    Software Update 2018.50.x

I just updated from 48.12.1 to 50.6 and Spotify has gotten worse. Now requires a reboot and several login attempts before it would work.

Does Tesla's parts and service policies violate state and federal consumer protection laws?

Is this still the same now? Still no Toolbox access?

    Superchargers in Australia

Demand in Japan might be currently limited by the size of Model S/X (way too big for their roads). The smaller Model 3 might be more successful.

Yellow borders on main screen- A new fix

They could also display everything but the edges with a yellow tint so you can't tell the difference :D
  44. C

Why v9's removal of green traffic lines is bad UI

Because green is not everywhere — there are plenty of roads for which there is no traffic information. Now there's no way to tell if traffic is normal or unknown.
  45. C

Insurance. It is that time of the year again.

Speaking of insurance, Redbook's extended warranty insurance quote has dropped from $2,xxx down to $1,200 for 2015 P85D. I wonder if the coverage has changed?
  46. C

Insurance. It is that time of the year again.

And also your suburb's median wealth/income. Sometimes more affluent suburbs pay a higher premium simply because they think you can afford it.

So...who's buying the "enhanced anti-theft" accessory?

My car was built before Sep 2015 but I definitely have that connector, been using it for dash cam. Perhaps cars before Sep 2015 have been sporadically built with/without it and they couldn’t be bothered keeping track, so just made the cutoff date later than necessary.
  48. C

Summon works, but app has issues connecting to the car.

This option is also not available outside US.
  49. C

Summon via Key Fob outside USA (in Canada)

Our phones already connect to our cars directly via Bluetooth so there's really no reason to use a remote server at all. I wouldn't mind using the app for Summon if it can use the direct Bluetooth connection and can work in places without cellular connectivity, which tends to be places where...

    Browser on V9 in Australia

I wouldn't say the green was redundant — it shows that traffic is light/normal, as opposed to no information available for that road. Also makes the main roads easier to see, especially with the new grey on grey colour scheme. I wish they'd add an option to re-enable it.
