    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

There must be someone in this forum who's got MCU2 and FM radio and is kind enough to be willing to do some packet sniffing/capture of the ethernet protocol in between? Anyone?

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Does anyone know, or have any specs or documentation to what the ethernet tuner IP protocol might look like? Perhaps it's possible to create a module that mimics the "FM radio" but actually takes an external hardwired audio input like PCM/SPDIF? Google have turned up absolutely zilch aside from...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Yeah i just dunno how i feel about spending yet another $500 on an FM module. Seriously tho an aux port has been standard on car stereos since the turn of the millennium. I wish Tesla came up with ann aux port, even if it's one of those optic fibre ones, cos transmitting via FM as an aux is...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Funny i was playing with my HDMI box a few days ago, with my old MCU1 there was an analog input harness for the radio so i was able to just splice the wire, tune to a non-existent AM station (so you get silence instead of static on FM) and just have clean audio coming through like an aux port. I...

Adjust Tesla charge rate from mobile app, API & PW2 to allow use of excess solar

you misunderstand - I'm in an area where solar output greatly exceeds demand during the day. I've started getting negative FiT for exporting to grid. In my case (can't speak for others), my intended solution is to soak up excess solar that has literally nowhere else to go but to get wasted. 1)...

Adjust Tesla charge rate from mobile app, API & PW2 to allow use of excess solar

2021.36 finally turned up for my car. Running update now! I'll hopefully know right afterwards whether the API will work :) Update: Woohoo! Works!! returns true if successful, otherwise returns error on vehicle id etc! This might keep me busy this coming weekend.. hehehe

    Model S REST API

Re chaging_amps, we've been chatting about it over here Adjust Tesla charge rate from mobile app, API & PW2 to allow use of excess solar but probably best to centralise API-based discussions on this thread.. tried this too, still getting a 404 in postman... most likely bcos the car's not on...

Adjust Tesla charge rate from mobile app, API & PW2 to allow use of excess solar

oooh didnt know that, this just started happening last couple of weeks so im not up to my next billing cycle yet. good to know. Either way, i'm now manually charging the excess into my car as planned to minimize export, looking forward to being able to automate it. only manual thing i'll need to...

Adjust Tesla charge rate from mobile app, API & PW2 to allow use of excess solar

@Vostok I'm with Amber which just passes wholesale prices directly... we've had negative FiT for a few days this week now, but typically around noon... those on a different retailer probably wont see negative FiT's for a while (that's because they make it up their margin off you elsewhere). It's...

Adjust Tesla charge rate from mobile app, API & PW2 to allow use of excess solar

Thanks heaps! That is a lot closer than I got, I'm an android user and the Android version isnt even up yet. I'd imagine the parameter to be something straightforward like ?amps=xx or ?charging_amps=xx etc... would only take a minute or two to guess it now that we have the exact endpoint...

    Model S REST API

Does anyone have the API commands for changing charging current yet? That's apparently released on iOS now (subject to car being on 2012.36+)
  12. L

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

only worth (maybe) that kind of coin if it can work with MCU2's digital input. but this def doesnt look like it.

Adjust Tesla charge rate from mobile app, API & PW2 to allow use of excess solar

only took like 10 years... but looks like it's finally here.. just waiting for 2021.36 to drop OTA. ps. not my pic. repost off FB post. I dont think the app is on Android yet, not that I care, I just want the API.

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

IMHO this projector setup is way clearer and brighter than the factory matrix LED ones given the loan cars I've driven.. so if I had an LED car I'd most likely end up buying a set of pre-facelift headlights (since they're like dirt cheap on ebay these days) and retrofitting the car with it. Also...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

Because it was my first time taking my tesla headlight housing apart (taking ANY headlight housing apart!), and that I wanted to get rid of every last bit of glue before I sealed it back, it took much longer than it needed to. Most people will tell you it's between a 2-4 hour job, I took about...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

I had 3D printed a cover plate that is the exact size of the ballast opening. A ring of silicone was added to the inside edge that pushed against the headlight housing to ensure the cap is watertight. as for sealing the lens, they sell the OEM seals online. But I just used a tube of black...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

I've tried that too but not installed. I have a spare US-spec whole headlight with 35W ballast and have ran it off battery next to my 25W car, unfortunately i didnt take a pic or vid cos required both hands... the 35W was only marginally brighter (if anything, less yellow)... whereas the laser...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

M3 as in Tesla model 3? Or as in BMW M3? Cos the TM3 headlights have a rather diffuse beam pattern same as the facelifted model S LED headlights. I've found only projector types of lights can give off a neat beam cutoff, that part is important because it means nothing above the cutoff will blind...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

That looks identical to what's so sold on AliExpress under the "Ronan" brand which has subsequently been pulled. It looks like the Ronan store have pulled all their laser offerings too for some reason?. I had that one on my list too and it was around $50 USD less than the one i ended up with...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

The adjustment screw is in the housing itself, best accessed from the top by taking the two side pieces of frunk trim off. The one directly next to the low beam projector is the horizontal adjustment, the one further back is the vertical one. The vertical one is actually on a detachable cable so...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

Slight adjustment needed, that part was easy and just needed a 5mm hex bit to turn the adjuster and no other tools in the middle of the carpark. Mine was pointing downwards by a few turns, both lights. But the left/right adjustment was perfect.
  22. L

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

Yes it's smaller than the factory projector. The back clears the rubber cover by around 2-3cm so there's still an airgap behind the projector for air to circulate inside.

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

The main difference in lighting performance of a projector swap vs aftermarket LED bulbs is this: 1) the emitter chips in projectors designed ground-up for LEDs are placed horizontally, this tiny change makes a huge difference to the way the beam is spread lengthwise. LED bulbs can't easily...

[pics] Upgraded factory projector HIDs to aftermarket Laser projectors

I know US cars have D3S 35W HIDs but unfortunately for the rest of us, we have 25W D8S's which are even dimmer... I do have a 35W ballast+bulb and that was one of the options I tried to "upgrade" to cos I really didnt want to take the headlight housing apart, but the difference between the 25W...

Hi guys Long time reader but seldom poster. Thought I'd share a recent mod I've done on our nosecone P85D. As some of you know, the factory HIDs on the nosecone cars are among the dimmest on the market, I've also driven facelift models and I didn't like the scattered beam pattern of the newer...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

We'll need someone with a Tuner2 to find out. Unfortunately I've got a late 2015 so I'm still on AP1 and MCU1 hardware set. Hmmmm i wonder where @BearBu 's gone... Was hoping he'd be able to tell us if the HDMI interface has HDMI audio internally.. Even if it's just contact points on the PCB i...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Yup the connector exists even in the photo from kdday's post... but from his pic you can see the MCU2 harness were missing these analog wires.. eg: to the far left where Grey and brown wires should've been, they were completely blank. I assume MCU2 completely doesn't support Tuner1 analog signal...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

I know. I have a similar one. Just not neat that's all, gotta wire up additional power and cables. If the audio signal already exists inside the HDMI interface box it's obviously more efficient to just use that. If there's no other choice then this is the last resort. Cool thanks. The wiring...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

@BearBu FYI I finally installed my HDMI box hahaha.. only took more than a year...so for anyone having trouble with audio, here's a tip (P.S.. I'm on MCU1 AP1...Apparently the wiring hasn't changed up until Raven).. But, at the back of the MCU, there's a brown connector harness on the middle...

Wiki European UMC adapter resistor coding

Hmmmm turns out it's surprisingly difficult to find the specs on the female contact pins in the adapters? Anyone have any info on them or where to source them? Closest i can find is Deutsches DT connector pins. I *think* the L lines are 4mm ø, N is 3mm and the pilot pin is either 2mm or 1.6mm...

    Towbar on a Model S

What'd u need to know? I've got mine sorted out, the pinouts have been posted somewhere on this forum before and that's what i went with. Only thing you'll be missing is reverse lights because that's in the tailgate so unless you feel like running a very long cable through there.. in AU, reverse...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

hey sorry late reply.. didnt see notification... here's the MCU wiring that I've found @BearBu - hey! check this out, there's actually an FM Analog input behind the MCU... so perhaps the HDMI audio can feed straight into there, maybe with a remote switch in case people ACTUALLY want to listen...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Ok cool.. Yeah if you can hear static that means I'll be able to too and that'll annoy me. I'll let you work on the audio option. I know the pinouts for the speaker which would help anyone with external amp but still doesn't help with a seamless integration like muting audio when phone call...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Hi @BearBu how do u find the FM transmitter in your picture? I've tried this one, i was going to just power it with a USB port, it works but the signal is relatively weak and I can hear static, which is obviously annoying if I'm trying to play music or anything requiring some quality of audio...

Help: Wiring a harness for a trailer

In case it helps anyone FYI - from this it seems, if anyone wants to get the reverse/fog signal, you'll have to either get it from the control module pins, or from the tailgate.

    Towbar on a Model S

I had mine ffwd'ed over too, all up under $800USD, given our crappy AUD these days that's just a bit over $1kAU.. Which is not too bad since i was considering a tow bar on the ICE instead and that would've set me back $850. And I sure as hell plan to keep the Tesla longer. Kit came with nylon...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Haven't tried that specific dongle but i find that Netflix just doesn't like casting to anything. I have an Android tv box i normally cast my phone to, YouTube works but for nflx it'll do audio but blank video. So i just have the Netflix app natively on the tv box instead and that works fine...

    Lte in Australia

Bummer. Back to square one. I'll ask the SC again when i see them, but yeah like i said, last time i asked them, he was very straightforward and told me basically all AU cars already have LTE hardware and the 3G is just limited by the data plan somehow... Which doesn't seem to make sense to me...

    Lte in Australia

Wondering out loud then, what would be the legal ramifications of one were to hypothetically take out the Telstra Sim card, stick it into a Nighthawk M1 (or similar insanely fast LTE router), and the car connect back to it via WiFi? I'm sure we'll get LTE speeds that way for something like...

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

Hi BearBu, when the box reads the can bus info (steering wheel control), does the box offer some kind of signal connection so we can use the same message to drive something else? Eg: switching between HDMI input or use it as a mode toggle? I understand the 360 view uses the signal to switch...

    Model S REST API

Nice! But unfortunately my car is 2015, so is my HPWC... so I can only assume it's the "older" model with older firmware/hardware that can't run that... and it wouldn't be as precise as the car controlling draw either, because HPWC selector is still in stepped amps, whereas car is single digit...

EXACTLY the reason why I asked for it too :) Tweet him again, I'd imagine we're not the only ones thinking about this... Hmm.. Homelink menu in my P85D (this is in AU)..... doesn't actually work though, as per video, I can go in to register but then nothing happens. Probably because I don't actually have a homelink garage opener to respond to the car.. and even if I can get the remote registered, I'm not sure...
