I think there is some misunderstanding of when/how this works.... it would use the friction brakes to mimic the regen braking only when regen is unavailable (or not fully unavailable). For example, when the battery is 100% charged or it's very cold, there is no or very little regen available...

If you are on AP and have a no-radar or FSD beta car, then you have the auto high-beams. They turn on automatically when you engage AP, regardless of your setting. You can manually turn off auto high-beam after you engage AP, but it will turn back on at next engagement.

The beta appears to not use your AP follow distance settings (just like it doesn't use the speed-based lane change AP setting). The beta behavior is completely set by the Chill/Average/Assertive setting - which, if you read the description DOES affect the beta follow distance. So bottom line...

This is a common misunderstanding. The 40% you got was not 40% of your entire drive, it's 40% of the time you were not on AP. When you are on AP, then NOTHING counts against you. So if you were off AP for only 2s of your entire drive, but 1s of that was too close, then you get dinged for 50%...
