    Enhanced AutoPilot (EAP) Has Returned!

Absolutely! While it's half the price of FSD in Canada, that's still $6400. I won't buy without trying.
  2. C

Okay, some questions after driving for a few days...

I use a magnetic phone mount with a long arm because I like my phone under the screen, not beside it. I slip a magnet between my phone and the case - but I have a smaller iPhone, not the larger ProMax
  3. C

    Can’t hotspot/wifi with iPhone

Did you try actually turning the whole phone off for 2-3 minutes then turning it back on? I usually find that the problem is with the phone, not the other [whatever] like the car. Don't just turn off the reception or network on your phone, but turn the whole thing off for a few minutes.
  4. C

Okay, some questions after driving for a few days...

About your iPhone -- I stopped relying on the wireless charging after a few months because the charging connection would bounce in and out and ultimately was useless for actually charging my phone. Waste of space. I bought some Anker USB-C to lightning cables and actually plug my phone in...

    Supercharging in Canada Too Expensive?

I believe it's a lot less than that - I think it's more along the line of 4 or 5 years. Yes, maintenance is a big part of those costs, just the regular fluid changes and brake pad replacements (unless you do those things yourself at minimal cost). Here's an article looking at the costs in...

    Supercharging in Canada Too Expensive?

I beg to differ -- I think that unless you're someone who barely drives a few thousand miles a year, a Tesla 3 or Y will save you money over an equivalent mid-sized ICE, if you own it for at least 3-5 years.
  7. C

    Supercharging in Canada Too Expensive?

Yes, but for those of us who do longer road trips frequently, Supercharging is expensive. Less expensive than gas these days, still, but far more than it used to be.
  8. C

    Supercharging in Canada Too Expensive?

Well, you still save with maintenance, fluids, etc. They're still cheaper and more efficient users of energy.
  9. C

    Supercharging in Canada Too Expensive?

But those infrastructure costs are what matters -- the availability, the notice of down stations, the speed. Superchargers aren't valuable because they give me electricity, it's because they give me fast charging where and when I need it. I can get electricity almost anywhere, and from a lot...

    Software Wish List.

I want to be able to answer and hang up the phone from the wheel, not just from the screen.

Wall charger price just dropped after purchase

I got mine back last week......thanks to those who encouraged me to email them. And it was also installed in my garage last week!

Recommendation on Tesla Wall Charger installers in Toronto, ON area

I used Plugz; I contacted 2 companies from the Tesla website, got estimates, and went with them. They installed my Wall Connector earlier this week, actually, and were fast, friendly, and did (as far as I can see) a good job. No complaints, nice guys, and did it within a week or two of our...

Right To Charge Law CA - HOA Complex

That's pretty much what my situation was a condo owner -- my building's board couldn't refuse to consider an EVSE, but it would have taken a lot of work and about $5K-$6K to get the details needed to apply for their approval, and they intimated they were unlikely to approve it anyway. (They...

Is leaving Tesla plugged in while not charging really beneficial?

Different strokes - for me, I think there will be less hassle in plugging it in each night because it will become a habit, rather than the hassle of needing to remember which nights I need a charge and which I don't. I don't think either way is harmful.
  15. C

    Sensitivity of “auto” wipers

When they're working properly, they are both rain sensing and adjust the speed to the rain level/speed. But mine currently seem to be having a problem with either the bugs flying in front of my windshield, or the dead bugs on my windshield - they start up on their own, and occasionally keep...

Are the Model Y/3 Tapped Out?

I didn't my an MY for a super 0-60 speed, I bought it as a fun, efficient electric SUV. There are so many more improvements that Tesla should make before improving speed and handling, in my opinion. For instance, allow me to answer the phone without looking for the button on the screen. Allow...

Wall charger price just dropped after purchase

Well, 4 days ago I got a "we submitted a request for price adjustment" email, and to wait 7-10 business days for processing and refund. So far, so good!

    Wall connector without WiFi

    Excellent, thank you all.

    Wall connector without WiFi

I have a 2021 MYLR, and I just accepted an estimate to have an electrician come to install a Wall Connector in my garage........Unfortunately, my house currently has no WiFi, and may not for the next year or so. I do have cell service - can I use cell service and my phone to control and make...

Wall charger price just dropped after purchase

Yup, I'm using it to charge as we speak. I'll let everyone know what I hear from Tesla.
  21. C

Wall charger price just dropped after purchase

Wow, that's actually surprising. I sent them an email, thanks.
  22. C

Wall charger price just dropped after purchase

I bought a Wall Connector 3 weeks ago, and since then the price has dropped 20%! I could return it and buy a new one, but they charge a 15% restocking fee, which means I'd save just $25, rather than the actual price difference of $120 (Canadian prices - was $630, now $510) Just: Grrrr.

why does my cabin thermostat reset itself every now and then?

I am the only driver of my 2021 Model Y, and I set my cabin thermostat to 20.5 degrees, but over half the time I get in my car after not driving it for about 12-24 hours, it's reset itself to 21 degrees. It's a small thing and an easy fix, but I'm just wondering why, and if I can change it...

How do you get yourself out if you child lock yourself at the backseat??

We had a client do this in the parking lot last week -- not a Tesla, and we watched her manouver and crawl into the front seat. It didn't look comfortable!

40 mi commute, office charger debate

I did not own a Tesla at the time, so I was not aware of the specifics of the Tesla mobile charger. Now that I have my Tesla, I have no need to charge at work (which is about 30 miles each way).
  26. C

40 mi commute, office charger debate

An outlet is perfectly acceptable to use outside in all weather conditions. I used a covered 110 V outlet for about 16 months at work to charge my EV while I was working, through rain, snow, and wind. Outdoor outlets are made to be used outdoors.

Tesla uses 1/6 the energy compared to gasoline

Oh, I think they have more than one advantage ;) but I just pointed it out as another complication in the equation.
  28. C

Tesla uses 1/6 the energy compared to gasoline

No one has taken into account the source of the electricity either -- some places use more fossil fuels to produce it than others. Does your electricity come from coal, hydro, nuclear, or something else? Generally EV's are more efficient at using power, but that power still comes from somewhere.
  29. C

Don't blow your $ on accessories before delivery

That's what I did, because I think you need to decide how bad the glare is from the screen in your environment. It's easy and fast to get it later, if you want it.
  30. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

A weaker connection does not mean it's dangerous. Eventually, in unlimited time with unlimited outlets, there will be more problems than with hardwired units, but a slightly increased risk of a problem does not mean dangerous. In real life applications, for real people, one is not so...

    Mobile Charger no longer included

I had no idea! That's easier than using the app or the in-car screen.
  32. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

What someone pays is really about supply and demand, so since you don't know where the poster is or how many electricians are available and how busy they are......You have no idea whether what the poster paid is "a lot" or not. Maybe it's a normal amount. Maybe that poster got it cheap, given...
  33. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

Well, duh. Do you think I didn't consider both options? Keep looking? How much time do you think I have to search out the one or two electricians who are charging less than the going rate, and where would I charge until then -- especially since the nearest public charger is over 40 minutes...
  34. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

That MAY BE true only if you leave out the cost of installing the Wall Connector, compared to the cost of installing a NEMA 14-50 outlet. Installing the Wall Connector is about $500 more, retail (i.e. what the electrician would charge me).....whether there's "1 less copper wire" is immaterial...
  35. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

Because they've already mentally and financially committed to purchasing the car as they knew it, and have been waiting for the car they expected to get.
  36. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

I think there's a lot more usage than the company would like to admit. Not everyone fell into the "buy and install our name branded home EVSE" line as the company probably expected.
  37. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

Like the huge spike in Supercharger prices. I don't believe this referred to taking it with you when you move, but taking it with you when you go to the cottage, or to stay with a friend for a week, etc.
  38. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

Or, for charging at home you can use any EVSE on the market, and use the J1772 adaptor -- you don't need to buy a Tesla-specific unit. You might not want a Tesla-specific unit if you have (or anticipate having) a different brand EV in your household, now or in the future. You can also plug...

Why pay for PPF & ceramic coating when you can just repaint?

Maybe it depends on what you're doing with your car, but I've never had so much paint damage on my car that it's drawn my eye, or made me feel like I needed to make my car look better. I've never had a buyer complain that my price was too high because the paint job was so bad. Then again, I'm...
  40. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

Musk can't seriously think that's a plus, can he? People don't need more plug adapters for outlets they don't have and won't encounter, they need an adapter for the situation they have at home/work/cottage. Getting an additional 2 adapters for the same price isn't a benefit if those 2 adapters...
  41. C

    Mobile Charger no longer included

Wow, that sucks. It's a really bad move, IMO. At the very least, it's good for emergency trickle charging (and I sometimes use it while visiting, for a little extra boost), but for some it was their prime charging cable.
  42. C

Questions about purchasing a new model Y

In general, maintenance is much lighter on EVs - there are so many fewer moving parts. Your maintenance list becomes things like tires, windshield wipers, and air filters. Your brakes will last longer, because you use them so less often (since you use one-pedal driving with regenerative...

Any competitors close to Tesla Autopilot?

FWIW, I've found less phantom breaking in the last month or so, with the new updates.
  44. C

What's your next EV after Tesla?

Yeah, pretty much. Today, if I were buying, I'd be looking something like a Mach-e or Taycan, depending on how rich I'm feeling. But right now I have no interest in changing cars or giving up the Supercharger network.
  45. C

    Frunk Thoughts or Engineering Disaster

Yeah, it's like hot wiring your frunk! I taped a little 12V battery in there to use to open it if needed, since my car booster pack would be unavailable if there was no power to open the car.
  46. C

Tesla Model Y - Things You Should Know!

This is hysterically simple. Thanks for the concise reality check.
  47. C

Why isn't everyone as upset about the Supercharger increase as I am?

I don't think it's about minimizing cost or that the cost is so high -- even for someone who uses a Supercharger 5 or 6 times a month on long trips -- it's the abrupt and unexpected TRIPLING of the cost that bothers me.
  48. C

    Sensitivity of “auto” wipers

Yup, but in all honestly, I've never found that auto sensing wipers work very well, ever (on any car I've ever driven). I think it's a bug of the technology, not specific to Tesla. I wish we had manual, variable speed wipers instead.
  49. C

    Supercharging in Canada Too Expensive?

I can see no reason for a price jump that high - triple the price overnight without notice (for some speeds). I can't say it's "too expensive", because I don't have a basis to compare it, but I will say I'm annoyed by the massive, unexpected price hike.
  50. C

Tesla Model Y - Things You Should Know!

Yup - it certainly wouldn't be the only car with original tires of just average quality. I feel absolutely safe driving my MYLR, because I've got Hakka winter tires. My choice for the way I want to feel when driving. Teslas are not luxury cars, so "great" anything isn't something an owner...
