    I Ordered a Taycan

Personally, I wonder about Lucid's long term viability as an independent entity, its Saudi investors' deep pockets notwithstanding... The Air definitely has some intriguing tech, but I don't love the way it looks and my personal preference favors Tesla's "sportier" overall design and demeanor...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Congratulations! As a long-time Model 3 owner, I honestly don’t see the appeal of or need for the swiveling screen. I’ve never once wished my Model 3’s screen was angled. 🤷‍♂️ I’m tempted to swap the wheel, but before I got it I was also tempted to buy an aftermarket driver’s info display for...

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

Yeah cause some random dude with a performance monitor and launch control on an airstrip is representative of “real world”. 🤣🤣🤣 But go ahead, keep digging yourself a deeper hole.

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

Oh, you mean the M5 that runs 10.9 @ 128 (on a drag strip, with launch control, which in the real world is 11.4-11.6 @ 127) to the MSLR’s 10.8 @ 130 anywhere?!? THAT M5? https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a36960485/2021-bmw-m5-competition-by-the-numbers/ And even all of that ignores the...

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

Serious and true. Real world = no drag strips/racetracks and no launch-control starts. Real world everyday driving. Punch it and go.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Congratulations on the car! First thing I'd do is sign up for an HPDE at a local track - learn the car's capabilities as it sits, and learn about what "driver mods' might be needed. Then decide what you think the car needs. Tires would be first, if it were me...(after any required "driver...

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

Ha - this was a few years ago - nobody really knew what my car was then. It was great/funny. Ran against a loud, fat-tired, tuned Chevy SS, too. BLAMMO - left him like he was standing still. He flagged me down in the staging lanes later to ask "WTF?!?!?!" ;-) The surprise factor is gone...

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

First time I went to the strip with my M3P, a guy in a tuned F10 M5 literally called me out from the parking lot to run against him. Wasn't close. His reaction time wasn't great and by the time he hooked, I was GONE. I ran 11.7 @ 117 to his 12.7 @ 124. He didn't ask for a re-match. ;)

M3P - Who switched from a (true) sports car?

Okay, now I understand - you're moving the goalposts now that your original point has been proven false. Troll away - I won't engage further.

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

I'd like to see the MSLR against an M5 Competition and E63S. These races against a tuned, RWD F10 M5 and a Z06 mainly serve to point out how tricky it is to launch high-HP RWD cars...

M3P - Who switched from a (true) sports car?

The M3P is 2+ seconds by the same driver at the Throttle House test track and 3+ seconds faster at Laguna Seca, even with the Hellcat driven by Randy Pobst, a professional, multiple-championship-winning racing driver and the Model 3 driven by someone nobody ever heard of....

Model S LR vs Audi GT

eTron GT offers similar pros/cons vs. the MSLR as the Porsche Taycan: Pros: -more substantial build quality, though the gap isn’t as big as it once was -Super quick DC charging, though again, the gap isn’t huge now and you said this doesn’t matter to you -Relative rarity Cons: -far less...

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

Had a quick test drive of an i4M50 the other day. Takeaways: It's a nice car. Smoother and quieter than my TM3, but also not as much fun to drive. Interior quality is "fine", IMO - nothing super special. Personally found all the colors and splashy graphics of the iDrive system to be...

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 vs Pilot Sport 4

I second your comments about the PS4/AS4 comparison. The PS4 is indeed quieter, and it grips better in the conditions it was designed for. I didn't really care for the AS4 by comparison, but I also had a set of winter tires, so the AS4's bad-weather advantage wasn't a factor for me.

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 vs Pilot Sport 4

    I’d ask Tire Rack
  26. Zcd1

    Tires wear out unusually quickly.

I'm sorry, but that's a ridiculous oversimplification. "Performance" tires are NEVER gonna last 50K miles. It's true that Tesla's OEM tire starts with less tread - that's not an "introductory" thing - it's a "range" thing. Of course you can replace those tires with full-tread-depth tires...

Handling S Long Range v Plaid

The reality is that Tesla uses one of the EPA-approved test procedures, while Porsche uses the other EPA-approved test procedure. Porsche also chose to unilaterally reduce the official EPA range, which is their prerogative and also meets EPA rules...

Handling S Long Range v Plaid

Good question - I also have this dilemma. On the one hand, I want the UHP tires that come with the 21" wheels, and I think the Arachnid wheels look great, filling out the fender wells perfectly. OTOH, it's true that the Arachnid wheels are heavier and possibly more fragile than some of the...

    Show of hands… Adaptive Suspension

Good to hear overall. I wouldn’t want a car that rode like either of those, so hopefully the MSLR will fit my bill. Also hoping that the damping improves via OTA updates…

    Show of hands… Adaptive Suspension

Thanks for reporting the results. I'm an interested observer as this is the first car I've ever purchased without a test drive, and a smoother ride than my previous Model 3P is one of the things I was hoping for with the MSLR...

"Not enough to matter" is the answer to both questions (IMO).

    Bouncy Suspension Model S

That’s cool - you do you. I’ll just run lower PSI (you know, like I have for the last 40,000 miles) with zero issues.

    Bouncy Suspension Model S

I also run 38 PSI. Makes for a better compromise between ride and efficiency IMHO…
  42. Zcd1

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

The way I look at this is: In the real world, the refreshed MSLR is quicker than any stock ICE sedan for sale right now. The only Taycan that's quicker is the Turbo, and only 0-60 - in passing times/rolling races or above about 60 mph the MS is quicker. The only electric sedans that are...

    S 60 D Full Charge Battery.

In winter temperatures at those speeds and with the heat on your consumption sounds about right. In warmer temps without running the heater that figure would probably be closer to 300 wh/mile. Sounds like the real issue is that you thought you were buying a car with nearly 300 miles of range...

    S 60 D Full Charge Battery.

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

OTOH Michigan has more miles of shoreline/coastline than any other state, so that’s 👍🏻 OTOOH Michigan won’t let Tesla (or any other mfr.) sell cars in-state, so that’s 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

By contrast, I find ABRP to be EXTREMELY accurate, especially when I enter all of the weather and other adjustment factors. 🤷‍♂️
