@Juice780 - did you make a decision? Also worth noting is that cold winter weather can seriously reduce range... like as much as 40% (worst case scenario). A cold battery runs much less efficient, plus heat usage, plus precipitation and headwinds. I'm in New York though, not North Carolina. If...

I disagree that there's a habit of shutting down, and with the idea of shutting down before a road trip. This type of post will scare the public away from EVs. There's nothing special that needs to be done with the car, just drive it. And don't freak out when you don't understand something...

Yeah, range anxiety is more about the driver's comfort and trust in the charging network than it is about a lack of chargers. I've been close to an empty gas tank on a road trip before and had a hard time finding a gas station in rural PA... definitely had range anxiety that time, but luckily...

This is a solvable problem. We could require landlords to install L2 charging for each apartment by a given date (let's say 2035), and offer a tax credit for those that get it done by 2028. Forget about major metropolitan areas (e.g. NYC) though. Public transportation FTW.

If they actually *wanted* to make EVs, GM would've followed through with the EV1 in NINETEEN NINETY-FIVE. They'd have a 20 year head start. Instead, the took all of them back and crushed them.

I disagree. Legacy auto manufacturers actually made a good deal of their revenue from repairs and aftermarket parts. Possibly most of it even. They try to get the upfront purchase price as low as possible, then make it back up on parts.

I have no problem with this. Tens of billions of taxpayer dollars have been given to ISPs to do *nothing*... they just paid it out as executive bonuses. Would've rather had chargers built. That said, these dollars won't go to Tesla, right? They'll just build more shoddy chargers like...

Everyone's experience will be different. For me, I ordered on the website and picked up my car a few weeks later. Easiest / best car purchase experience I've ever had... it beat the "stealership" experience by at least 10x.

Which school is that, exotic dancing school? I've noticed issues with WiFi... I usually have to manually connect, and recently it didn't show any networks at all (reboot fixed it). Also, typing in an SSID and password then hitting the "Add Network" button just cleared the form. So broken.

That depends on your reasons for preferring the S. I have a 3 but drove an S loaner from the service center once. It was dookie. The 3 is a blast. Not a whole lot has changed since 2019 though... heat pump, heated wheel, matrix headlights, chrome delete and more. Still the same car though.

I agree to an extent. I've come across many mechanics that are anti-EV though. Once someone has been outspoken against something, they often are too prideful to change course.

I suggest test driving a Model 3 before you rule it out. I've read multiple posters who test drive both and decided on the 3 because it was more fun to drive. Other than Tesla - it's not so much the car but the SuperCharger network that makes the difference. If yours are all CCS then perhaps...

If it's in your budget, LR all the way. More range, AWD, premium interior features, and you'll take delivery much sooner. The used market doesn't provide a big discount right now due to the backlog for new orders.

I routinely fill my Model 3 with children. Often a car seat behind me, a booster seat in the middle, and a third child behind the front passenger. The Model 3 is a fairly roomy sedan in my opinion (not a Model S or anything). There's ample room for a car seated child's legs behind the driver...

This seems hard to believe. Rate of acceleration does not reduce efficiency? For sure, slower starts are more efficient.

For sure the Mazda 3 is a lot cheaper upfront, but you'll be kicking yourself every time you're pumping $6 gas or sitting in the waiting room during the semi-annual oil changes. The total cost of ownership might even be less on the Mazda, but only if you discount the breathing of toxic fumes...
