First puncture with model 3 this morning.

Also a Nationwide Flex user...one of the few banks still offering these kind of services and long may it continue I hope. Not had to use breakdown yet, but phone insurance has been great on 2 accounts and the cover for holidays is pretty good as standard.

Messed around by Octopus for 3 years - advice welcome

I mean, its extremely crappy what they have done to you, BUT, i'm honestly not sure you have much of a leg to stand on. When you sign up for Octopus Go, it states that you will be billed on whatever the other rate is, until such time that your smart meter is installed. Also, even if you have a...

UNECE paves the way for L3

I'd just be happy if they let us have FSD Beta - as watching videos on it, even with all its mistakes, puts it far and away above the supposed FSD that I currently have. But I just can't see it....I mean we got nerfed a few weeks ago to stop the car from being able to exit the motorway by...

    Intelligent Octopus

I've just started the switch process over to Intelligent. I'm already on GO and was fixed until december at the fantastic rates. BUT, i've been struggling to keep my car charged because i've not been getting home from work until 2 or later and with the imminent October price rise, I've decided...

    M3 faulty charging cable???

Naturally they did and I would fully expect the charger company, to say that it is most often caused by a faulty cable rather than the charger socket itself... Tough one to win this.

Smart meter how long without electricity

Didn't know that....interesting. I was told by Octopus that I had to get my DNO in to remove the fuse before their engineer could touch it. Guess its that same old story on who you actually speak to.
  7. Billbrown1982

Smart meter how long without electricity

I think the problem is that technically, the master fuse, is owned by London Power Network or whoever covers that area. Technically speaking, an engineer from Octopus (or anyone else for that matter) is not allowed to break the seal and remove that fuse. This would mean they can't turn off...

    M3 faulty charging cable???

When I was experiencing severe crackling and such from my charger for a good few months, multiple investigations into the cause (which ended up being the charger itself) never came up with any brown pins like that....so i'd suspect that it is shorting somehow?

Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

Thats unfortunate....possibly the parts were not available so they are planning to do it at a later date? But yeah....I think I would have refused delivery on principle but hope you get a speedy resolution.

Navigation caused me to get a fine

New? Hardly. Been driving HGV's best part of 30 years mate and a large portion of that, unfortunately, in London. I am fully aware of the rules and regulations, doesn't make it right though. Also, just to make sure that YOU are aware of them. They still are not allowed to go through red...

Navigation caused me to get a fine

Kind of tough when you don't see them coming, because they have just come through a red light, dressed in black...on a black bike....with no lights on it. Sorry....been in London all poxy day and i'm just SO SICK of seeing them shoot the lights. Literally seen hundreds do it today. But if I...

    Tessie App

Yes the data protection thing is and has always been, my biggest concern with all this. But that said, who's to say Tesla's security is any stronger? I mean you constantly see adverts about protect your data, don't open phishing emails, install a million different firewall and anti virus...

Navigation caused me to get a fine

Bang to rights guv. Unless signage was missing or obscured, 100% your fault i'm afraid. As others have said sat navs are only a guide and these restricted within certain times areas tend to trip them up a lot. Even my £400 truckers sat nav really struggles with the London Lorry Ban because...

    Tessie App

It is a personal subscription not restricted to one vehicle. Meh, horses for courses. As far as I'm aware Teslamate doesn't support google assistant? 1st word problem but thats basically the feature I use the most with Tessie. Plus...it just works. If Tesla changes something with the api, I'm...

    Tessie App

Ooo well spotted. Didn't know about that. My sub is up in september and yeah thats only 4 years worth and then profit. So providing that James and co keep Tessie going its a bargain. There constantly seem to be more and more updates and features and i've been super happy with it up until now.

    Charging cable recommendations please?

Oh dear...well I will have to hope that you have been super unlucky because if not, my time might be about to arrive lol. I've had my cable for about 14 months and use it almost every day, outside on the driveway in all weathers.
  17. Billbrown1982

    Charging cable recommendations please?

The button is just to open the cars charge flap and then unlock the cable when removing. So only works on Tesla mate.
  18. Billbrown1982

    Charging cable recommendations please?

I got mine from evChargeking Any length you want and can have the button handle so you can open/unlock the charge port from the plug. They were super helpful and communicative with me, BUT I will say its not the cheapest and you do run the risk of being stung with import tax. I got done once...

Paint Protection Film - Worth It?

I got mine PPF'd and its still picked up one or two chips, where, I can only assume the stone has hit the car with such force that its chipped the paint underneath the PPF. That said, I dread to think what the state of it would have been without it. Buuuut....I recently had a disagreement with...

    Big recall

I'm really split on this whole issue. Should something that gets an OTA update even be considered a Recall? No.....lets not make a mountain out of a molehill here. But, should the car NEED these OTA updates to begin with? Also no....its like the state of computer games these days, 9/10 are...

Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

Honestly, unless its a SUPER cheap bargain, I'd swerve it. Technically they should not be selling the car in that condition as it has DRL's fitted that are not working properly and would, I assume, fail an MOT. Alternatively buy it (providing there is no paperwork saying you have accepted it...

Good one Charlie! Standing up.for yourself when stopped by the police.

Hmmm gonna have a hot take on this one. Blokes blatantly been speeding, I'm gonna guess by quite a bit and by the sounds of it has done it before. But he managed to blag his way out of it and instead of just taking the win, he is making a huge fuss about it...not sure that is the best approach...

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

That was my first thought but luckily, as in my previous post, it ended up being an e-fuse. That said, I am curious. Did "we" as a community know that you apparently don't get any kind of warnings on the dash when you have lights out? I mean I was driving around during the day with no...

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

Dead right about Sentry. I just posted 2 seconds ago that Its now fixed ;) As for the 2 button with brake pedal. DId I not read in a few places that it no longer does anything and all of the "resets" were rolled into one (i.e just the 2 button push) ?? I'm sure I've seen that mentioned in a few...

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

Not sure why you got downvoted. Bit harsh imo as I totally agree with you. At least if you lose headlights you've got side lights, or DRL's, or hazards, or something. The whole lot going in one go seems like a bad design...but apparently thats what happens because after following teaston's...
  27. Billbrown1982

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

welp not a fuse....that's concerning. Although....sentry mode was on now that I think about it. Does that keep it awake enough to stop the fuses resetting? I suppose it would. First step then. Do that hard reset.
  28. Billbrown1982

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

Yeah kind of wish I had known that sooner. I followed the instructions which just tell you to power it down from the screen. Maybe that would have prevented this problem.
  29. Billbrown1982

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

Much help given guys and to everyone that is hoping for a fuse, I love you all! I'm just about to get picked up and go retrieve the car. I am also in the "surely the whole front end can't be controlled by a single fuse" camp - but I will be incredibly happy if it lights up when I arrive...
  30. Billbrown1982

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

Thank you and I sincerely hope your correct. I've got this brief glimmer of hope that I tripped a fuse when I connected to the battery and that it will reset itself overnight, but seems unlikely as its knocked out the entire front end. The add-on harness is literally connected to the latch...

No front lights at all, even indicators (Whoops did I do something....)

So, let the judgement commence. I fitted an EVOffer powered frunk kit today, all seemed to go swimmingly. The only real connections to the car are an earth (which will be my first point of call tomorrow I think) and a tap off the 12v battery. All went great. Bonnet opening and closing like a...

Aftermarket automatic frunk and foot sensor for boot

It can only affect the warranty for those areas. I.E if your boot stops working and you've fitted a foot opener then yeah, your gonna be out of luck. That said I have a after market electric frunk opener, no splicing required and if it comes to it, it can easily be returned back to stock.
  33. Billbrown1982

How concerned are you about the warranty (or lack thereof)?

As soon as I see "wear and tear" in an exclusion list its a waste of money in my mind. I had a saab 93 that came with one of these extended warranties. I'd had it for maybe just over a year and it had only done 30k miles or something like that and the 5th gear syncro crapped itself. Warranty...

Survey Do You Need a UMC?

Had my car a year and only used the UMC once when I was at a holiday home in Devon. They did have one single slow destination charger on the site that I possibly could have gone and used (it was a fair walk away from our van) but would not have been anywhere near as convenient as trickle...

Has audio improved in 2021 models?

Gonna guess thats your problem right there. Have you tried using spotify directly to compare? My M3 has better audio than any of my previous cars.

    Boot strut recall

Well mine has done it twice suddenly, once tonight and once last week. Again its not been particularly cold, although very wet. Just have to monitor and see if it gets worse or not I guess.

    How Secure Are Teslas?

On the flip side....with that amount of security, I would be inclined to assume this guys got stuff to hide, so breaking in would be worth the effort? Who knows what goes through these scumbags minds anyway.

Frunk storage vs. Boot for cables/first aid

Some interesting answers. I actually never use my frunk and it stays empty nearly all the time. I did start putting my charging cable in there for a while but the convenience of reversing up to the house, opening the boot to get my work bag out and having the charging cable there ready to plug...

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

Sounds like its a hush hush known issue then. Good to know and great outcome!

    How Secure Are Teslas?

Yeah pin to drive is, as far as I'm aware, unbypassed to date. As far as gaining access to the car, I imagine that is as easy as most keyless cars these days.

Huge amount of wasted energy caused by undesirable sleep patterns using smart chargers

Interesting. I have a 2021 model 3. I get home from work and plug it in every night to charge only between 00:30 and 04:30 all controlled by the EO Smart Charger. Sometimes it stays plugged in all weekend and tops up each night. According to Tessie, it is sleeping perfectly fine. Only being...

Crackling when plugging car in to charge

So, it has been over 2 weeks now since EO came out and the car has been plugged in to charge pretty much every day since. Not once has it made so much as a sound... My appointment with Tesla is this Friday but I am going to give it another couple of days and then cancel it for now. I'm kind of...

    Insurance

You've answered your own question there unfortunately. Because you have given them all your details. Which is worth its weight in gold to these guys. Even if they don't want to insure you, they still have them.

    Octopus Energy referral code please

4 minutes...you guys are slacking today.

    Bonnet Charging App?

Ahhh I missed that, yeah ok that makes it both less appetising but also a lot more realistic to me. I couldn't see how my mate was going to be able to public charge at 25pence anytime he wanted, given the current energy pricing.
  46. Billbrown1982

    Bonnet Charging App?

Which is great and all, but you have not actually said if its actually any good? Assuming you are using the service then rather than just collecting referrals for it?
  47. Billbrown1982

    Bonnet Charging App?

Apologies if already talked about on here, but as you can imagine, searching for "Bonnet" doesn't really get me anywhere. I don't really use public charging but a friend of mine asked me about this and I didn't have any answers for him so wanted to see if anybody here has any experience of...

Crackling when plugging car in to charge

Well, EO showed up and of course, couldn't get so much as a buzz out of the damn thing. Tried multiple times, showed him the videos that I'd taken but, without seeing it himself there was not a lot he could do. Charger got taken apart. All the connections were checked for any signs of damage...

    Road hero spare wheel kit

I'm not sure how I feel about this ratchet strap solution....its seems like a LOT of work and messing around to get it just right...and for what? You don't gain any space really, anything that he has underneath the wheel I can just put ontop of mine when I need to. Am I missing some benefit? I...

    Road hero spare wheel kit

I bought the kit, based on a few people's recommendations on here. I mean what can you say, its a wheel and tyre. As far as space savers go I think it looks quite sexy, compared to the ones of old you used to get and of course it fits perfectly. I was and still am a bit peeved off by the...
