    Battery to charge the battery

How would you get this massive portable battery to and from your property to the car? 🤣

    Bonnet now has IONITY

With angel investors like the founder of Deliveroo, and an ex-President of Tesla, what do they know about value propositions, right? Dave on the forums says 6 months and they be gone. Couple of promo codes and they be outta cash, common sense mate.

    Tesla UK T0 Tyre Directive

Be interested to hear if they are any good. Had Bridgestones on a 200hp car and they were diabolical. I know all the major marques moved away from them on performance cars.

    Bonnet now has IONITY

Like any tech business then which leverages network effects whilst making a loss, to provide critical mass later on.
  5. B

    Bonnet now has IONITY

Bonnet has over $5m of investment so far including capital from an ex-president of Tesla..... Meanwhile an awful lot of highly experienced angel investors on here with "give it 6 months" and "give it 12 months" 🤣

    Tesla UK T0 Tyre Directive

Needed new rears, lead time on Pilot Sport 4's (T0) was 3 months. Bought two new Pilot Sport 5's, not Tesla fitment. Prefer to have decent tyres with tread than worry about T0

    Bonnet now has IONITY

Annoyingly, Bonnet won't let you search for high powered chargers, the search stops at 50kw+ Quite why they can't do a search function for 150kw+, I don't know

    More Tesla Nav gripes

The route summary in the top right (of the main map), shows the junctions and roundabouts coming up with exits, and that is overlaid on the map all the time (it can be collapsed smaller as well). So not sure why you cannot see this easily, perhaps a photo of what you see would help? Mine is no...

Buy Tesla through private limited company

If you're leasing then the funder is on the V5. For insurance purposes, it does not matter, so long as you tell them.

Tesla Model Y - PCP or HP for company car

Same for me, leasing swung it by far.

    Apple CarPlay in the UK?

We have pool cars in the business which have CarPlay and I actually find it useful that it reads out Whatsapp messages whilst driving. Would be a useful feature in the Tesla. But admittedly it's kind of solving a problem that I never knew I had.... 🤣

Cost for Supercharging Increased ? Where to find prices?

They really don't want you to know... So much so, if you press the SC destination icon, for any location, the price pops up on screen. They do a terrible job at hiding it.
  16. B

Tesla Model Y - PCP or HP for company car

PCP and HP are both forms of purchase, which involve 100% FYA on the purchase price, and expensed running costs. The other way is contract hire or leasing, which involves all costs as expenses and no capital allowances.

    Window washer fluid low

My tyres are now 40psi after some use, is this normal? I can't believe the air would have leaked from a rubber seal during use??? Maybe Tesla didn't fill them up enough to save 0.1mm on height clearance on the ship when they loaded them? Or they are saving electricity in the factory by turning...

    When to renew Octopus Go

Yes I heard they had now fixed the bug which stopped the renewal notices going out. Which, if you've had the renewal notice, kind of proves that point..... 🤣
  21. B

    Bonnet now has IONITY

Bonnet do actually solve an issue here and that's aggregation of various smaller third party networks into one app. And they're doing it at a time of a sort of network effect as mass adoption is upon us. It's a clever business - might not have much of a valuation in the end - but clever.
  22. B

Buy Tesla through private limited company

For company assets you record the purchase price (in this case the car attracts 100% FYA), and then the disposal price. You'd then be liable for CT on the disposal price received. If it was personally purchased and sold then no, no CGT due on personal car sale.

Buy Tesla through private limited company

Had no issues here in going to quote for personal policy, selecting company leased, and selecting business use.
  24. B

Buy Tesla through private limited company

Mine is insured on a personal policy, but with business use. Direct Line, £400. Premium paid on company credit card.... There was talk on another thread of getting a business policy etc, but that's overkill and not necessary. The car is already available for personal use so a personal...

    Bonnet now has IONITY

Ha indeed. All good advice. Although part of the deal with these other charging operators is probably bulk buying kWh at a reduced rate. For any charge point operator, it's a good deal to integrate with other apps as it increases CP utilisation and decreases payback period on the infrastructure.

Figs look good on first glance, I did spreadsheets for all of this when working out the various options, but also have a half decent accountant who highlighted some other marginal savings.

Buy Tesla through private limited company

I meant risk on residuals - i.e I'd always rather lease and not take any risk on resale values or reselling etc, (no matter what the tax position). Leasing you just pay the monthly fee and then hand it back (so no risk on residuals). Was talking about leasing vs purchasing with a view on risk...

Not all accountants are experts 🤣 Your calcs seem sound. CT goes to 25% from next April (at the moment), but there is a small profits rate for 50-250k which is tapered, my marginal rate will be about 23% but yours might be different. For the dividend tax - yes I agree - that is how you have...

    Bonnet now has IONITY

They are a university spinout, with several rounds of financing and investors. Like most tech businesses, you run a loss for the first few years whilst building up critical mass in size. When you have a good number of users through network effects, then you can look to profit from that. As a...

Buy Tesla through private limited company

BiK is a personal expense and ENI is a business expense - so the net cost to you of the ENI is not £165, it's more like half that. Don't forget the dividend tax you also "save" - as if the company is paying, then you are not from your post-tax income. If £580 lease costs comes out my...
  33. B

Buy Tesla through private limited company

BiK is 2% this year. 2% of £50k is £1,000 - and you pay tax at your marginal rate on £1,000. In the great scheme of things it's not significant and the tax savings via the company more than outweigh it. Just did my P11D for £56 of ENI and £404 on the BiK for last year (£160!) £160 of...

  35. B

Buy Tesla through private limited company

The other way is lease through your company, which is what I am doing. £579 a month, half the VAT back, CT relief as it's a biz expense. I then assume higher rate dividend tax off the remainder, as if I didn't have the car, I'd be paying myself extra dividends (and tax), to lease it myself...

    Powerwall and Solar iBoost

Thanks, yes I saw that in the settings, min 100w and adjustable to 500w. Just trying to understand what then happens when it switches itself on and the PW excess stops. If the battery then takes over the house load, how does the iBoost know to stop?

    Powerwall and Solar iBoost

Has anyone got any experience of running a Powerwall with a Solar iBoost? My PV system is up and running but Powerwall doesn't arrive until December. In the meantime I am looking at installing an iboost to utilise the excess solar, but would this still work for excess solar when the Powerwall...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

    EV Charger Question

It would be possible, but would likely be more expensive than just paying for the upgrade to your Andersen, and probably a lot less hassle.

    Salary sacrifice Advice Appreciated

I meant comparing prices say for an employee leasing via salsac arrangement - or a company owner/director leasing a vehicle and providing it to themselves for personal use (my car is through my own LtdCo as director). It's less than half the price (post tax), of a comparable salsac.
  41. B

    Salary sacrifice Advice Appreciated

Majority of these salsac deals, particularly Tusker, are a complete rip off. If you compare the prices with same car in your own company, for example, the difference can be as much as half price! Most of them are set up to pass the savings back to the lease company, with the employer then...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

The handshake protocol is a CCS standard. Fastned also use VIN recognition for auto-billing. Other suppliers such as Gridserve are also looking to roll it out.
  44. B

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

It's a UK policy proposal, not a rule or law, as far as I understand. With the requirement applying from the point of regulations coming into force for new chargepoints; 12 months to retrofit existing.
  45. B

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

The supercharger would know because there is a handshaking protocol which exchanges the VIN, amongst other info. This is how an SC can bill your car without you ever opening an app or tapping a card.

    Solar Exported Today

I always find myself confused as to the "free electricity" argument with solar. If I buy 16 solar panels, which generate 5,000kWh an annum, on a system life of 25 years, and that costs me £8k. Let's say. I've effectively purchased 125,000kWh for £8,000. Today. So of course I benefit from...
