UNECE paves the way for L3

Do people really want Tesla to do Level 3 at the moment? This is the first level where the car is responsible and the driver can stop concentrating on whats happening. There is no chance I'd be happy with that based on my experience of our version of AP or what I've seen in the US beta. It...

    [UK] 2022.16.x

Tesla have talked about simulation of driving with Autopilot as a way of trying to regression test. I think there are three different elements (as 2022.16.x appears on hold maybe those interested can debate) Agile development Minimum viable product with a hardware component AI and non...

    China production news

We’ve had it too, sometimes just a variant of a model. Our EDDs are windows too, they are often a few weeks. I agree they’re no more than a current best guess which makes it funny when people have a 6 week EDD range move by 1 day.

    China production news

I guess we don’t know for sure, time will tell, but news like this just makes people worry needlessly. And if your car does get bumped, it won’t be the first time and could be due to a host of other reasons. Berlin ramp hasn’t been as fast as hoped. MYP was never expected to come from China, if...

    China production news

You’re right that the first half of a quarter is usually for long distance export but we’re no insider knowledge on their exact allocations, what they’re doing with current production etc.. We’ve also had no MYPs yet from Germany, we’ve had no new MS from Fremont, this is just second guessing...

    China production news

Individual production lines get shut down all the time for various reasons, and the shutdown of the whole factory hasn’t changed. The changes will add ~30% more capacity at the loss of 2 weeks of the 13 in the quarter on each line, call it 15%, so they’re still up 15% over the quarter compared...
  9. G

    China production news

I don't think its too big a stretch of the imagination for Tesla to have a rough allocation per quarter for each market that takes into account any planned volume changes. I suspect many dates got pushed back because of a combination of covid closures and the failuire to make these changes when...

Moderator note: The thread is shipping, and posts on production volumes and associated speculation, even if approaching facts, aren't actually about shipping. Bonnet now has IONITY

Except they don't have any web based access to your account and don't own the bonnet.com (or co.uk etc) domain. The joinbonnet.com website doesn't even give you any way to actually join unless you're on a mobile and download the app. I guess they can add it later on. But I suspect I'm not alone...

Trade in values seem high again ?

I don’t think motorway do for the initial valuation, but that’s not that important anyway as it’s just a guide for the next step which is dealers bidding. If they know what they’re looking at they may give more when they see your description and pictures but I think on the used market buyers...

    12 volt battery insurance/backup plan

I always thought the car gave you a "12v battery needs replacing" or equivalent message, or the battery failed after the car had been left a while and so nobody there to see the message if the car detected the fault. I imagine a spare tyre would be the first thing to carry before a 12v battery...

    Model Y/S/X Reservation

Y and S come up all the time as new inventory although sometimes that includes demo cars (it’s how I got my MY within a week, and that’s the U.K.) You need to be quick using one of the instant notification services, I prefer the telegram one as it tends to report quicker than the Twitter one...

UK 2022 Orders to Delivery General Discussion

Mine was in a peculiar state, I’d try a scroll wheel reset (hold down both scroll wheels until the screen goes off) and see what happens, I tried it and eventually it burst into life but it may have been a coincidence.

    Tessie App

True, and having a proper IT department and the ability to pay for proper pen testing etc isn’t a guarantee to protection, but half of these apps appear to be written in somebodies bedroom. It’s not worth the risk for me

    Model Y UK Delivery

It’s going to need manually matching to your RN which could take time. The usual guidance is make a £1 initial payment, check it appears in your MyTesla which takes only an hour or so during the day if all is well, and then you’re good to pay larger amounts. Hindsight is everything.
  22. G

    Tessie App

It works for now. If Tesla killed off the API they’d all stop working and your $200 has gone forever And with the API changes, any security breach by any 3rd party and your car can be located and driven away irrespective of mfa or pin2drive. There’s simply no need to pay anyone or give away...

    MYP UK Waiting Room

There are no MYPs with 4680 cells so nobody knows the spec of them. The only 4680 battery cars are a limited number of cars made in Texas for the local market and they’re far from performance models, they’re more like standard range cars.

April 2022 Model Y Order - Expected Delivery time UK

No real updates on the MYP - in fact if anything the Berlin dates for us are going backwards although there is now a ruimour that we may get the MYP from China (they're building them there for the Chinese market and Australia have been told thats where they'll get them from, they'll be RHD, and...

Charge Place Scotland Tariffs by Council

This is one of those things which might confuse people more but they usually have limits in Amps. The charger probably has a 125A limit at 400V (from memory this is what the old Chademo used to be like when I got my first Tesla, might be 120A). If you have a smaller voltage battery, say 350V...

    [UK] 2022.16.x

I take your point, but as Boeing will testify the impact of screwing up in some areas doesn’t just hurt the company. [UK] 2022.16.x

Does anybody else wonder what's going to happen when Tesla start delivering software that is meant to actually be responsible for driving us? Model Y UK Delivery

Yeah, when I collected there was a queue of delivery drivers for lease companies and company car companies. The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I've long felt things like phantom braking varies depending on time of year (shadow length), whether you're limited by the car in front or free running, actual speed, etc, relatively subtle differences that you might not notice between one day and the next, but things do change. If you drive in...

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I think the point was a decent blind spot warning would have made you aware before you tried to make the move, surely that has to be the first line of safety? Most modern cars also do lane assist if you ignored the warnings and they'd intervene too. They also have cross traffic alert to stop...

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Except setting it to current speed and not speed limit means it will ignore even more speed limit changes than it does otherwise.
  35. G

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I wonder if the variability comes down to some people have worked out when it’s ok to avoid issues. Some people are having lane change issues on A roads, personally I’d never even try on an A road, if I used any of the systems it would just be TACC. On motorways I might use lane change but only...

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

For me this boils down to reality v expectation. Tesla have built a high expectation with all the talk of feature complete, coast to coast etc and back in 2017 they even released a video of the car driving someone to work then going off and parking itself. 5 years on and that’s still a dream. If...

    Model Y UK Delivery

I’ve noticed that before too, either people are buying fast or Tesla are fleetingly listing them for some reason. You have to be there within a few minutes to grab one and I’m not sure I could type my credit card number in that fast!

    Tow Bar "Offer"

The tow bar is definitely available as a SC fit, you can see the option in the shop for the same price. Whether including it at the time of order means it’s done at the factory or not, I’m not sure anybody knows The M3 and MX were both factory fit only, the MX tow become standard after a few...
  39. G

    Tow Bar "Offer"

When they first added it to the configurator it was at £1300 which was stupid as the shop had the same thing at £1090. Every other country had the two priced the same. They corrected it quickly so I imagine someone just has out of date information. It may well go up, but I think the current...

    Tow Bar "Offer"

Sounds like the same price and spec as the one in the shop that can be retro fitted. Given they’re saying you can add it to your order it’s probably a retro fit anyway. I certainly wouldn’t want to order it and find you have to wait longer for your car.

    Unpaid supercharging session

I read somewhere that various servers are down at the moment which maybe compounding the problem, but the way to clear a missed payment used to be via MyTesla and not the app. That info is a little old but might be worth a try. And yes, they have been known to stop supercharging if there are...

    Alternatives to a tesla *gasp*

Easier to start with what do you want from a car. I had an MS for a while, and there's a lot to like about them, and maybe the new MCU makes a massive difference, but it's starting to feel like an old car to me. Had an M3, 2020 US can and it was noisy, moved to a MY and some things have...

    Bonnet now has IONITY

Probably linked to what the networks they used rather than SuC themselves, but I agree with the point. The model was always difficult unless you were the defacto standard and everyone needed to be on it. If they are cheaper than the network, who pays the difference, and more expensve and why...

Speed signs not detected by Teslas?

I’m saying the opposite, speed limits work fine in a 60 mph area, but do 50 on a motorway in a variable speed zone and it refuses to see them. It seems it’s the type of road where it doesn’t work. Some blame Mobileye who have the patent, and cars with AP1 (which is Mobileye) work more or less...

    Condensation in tail lights

The rule they seem to work to is if the condensation turns to water droplets it’s time to replace and the left edge in that picture is clearly droplets. Most light units from many makes get some condensation misting and that in itself isn’t anything to worry about.
  49. G

Speed signs not detected by Teslas?

I don’t think speed limits has anything to do with FSD. For me: Two way roads sometimes seem to work, both see and adjust your speed Dual carriageway it might see but rarely, if ever adjust Motorways it doesn’t even see them It’s also not the amount of speed, ie only works at 40 or below...

Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

Totally different here, if those lights are failing, even partially, the car will fail it’s annual inspection which is required every year from its 3rd birthday
