Cross Climate 2 on Model Y vs OEM 19"

I hope my experience is the same. I bought the Quatrac Pros in April, planning to put them on in November before winter starts here in Maryland. I currently have 18k miles on my MYLR. I also sized up a little, going to 255/45R20.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Got my shelf installed and I love it! Looks great and I also think it reduces the sound a bit. This was a great find @ilovecoffee !!!

Ran over something now $17k bill

I have the MPP front plate. When I bought, they were the only option. Now that RPM has the rear I was interested. Until I saw the $100 shipping fee. Does anyone have experience/opinions with the rear skid plate?

Ran over something now $17k bill

I have the same question. I installed the MPP skid plate shortly after I got my car. A couple months ago I ran over a large piece of tire on the highway while going 70 mph. The only damage was a small tear in a rear mudflap. I was really glad I had the skid plate.

Thank you for the detailed report! I am off to order now... Done! Of course it will arrive Thursday. The day after I return from a three day road trip.

FSD beta expansion to new beta testers June 2022

I remain on 2022.12.3.2. I have 100 safety score and have been playing since March. Hopefully this is the time! It has been almost four weeks since I got a software update. Usually I get one at least every two weeks.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Yup. I remember your post on that. My plan was to put one in the far front portion of each cavity, in the area Sandy Munro found the foam during his tear down. I don't see how that would impact the vents, which are almost in a separate compartment behind the storage wells. Not disputing you at...

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

YES!!! I'm glad it finally worked!

    Ear pain/Pressure help

That's good to know. The creaking would drive me nuts too. My car seems pretty quiet, but I am on a quest. :-)

    Ear pain/Pressure help

That definitely looks interesting. I may order one as well. I have the roller type but have never installed it because I was waiting to finish the last bit of my internal soundproofing. I have to do the driver's side wheel well and I got two bass absorbers to shove up into the fender cavity on...

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

It is interesting that is always the first question I get as well. I didn't have a good answer the first time. Started going down the path of 240V vs 115V. (Hint: don't do that) :) Now what I say is "I drive 2.5 hours and charge for 15-20 minutes when I stop for a bathroom or stretch break."...

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

Try different USB cables. I've found that this does make a difference. I demonstrated connectivity working with one cable and not with a different cable. Also, try a different USB port.

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I tested my Setec successfully on May 9. I have a MY with version 2022.12.3.2 and it worked with no issues. Setec was on firmware 164-1 and I used an Electrify America CCS1 charger.

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

Those steps are slightly different than the ones I listed. Not sure that it matters, but could be worth one more try. If you get no success, you could verify that it works with a Model 3/Y and sell on EBay.

MPP was the best choice for me. I'll send you a PM.

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I had success by doing the following steps, in order. 1) Activate charging station with charging station app 2) Power on SETEC adapter 3) Connect CCS1 cable to SETEC adapter 4) Insert into car 5) Begin charging session by using the charging station app These steps have to be completed fairly...

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

It is supposed to work on the MS/MX at 80kW charge, according to the SETEC website. Do you have the adapter and is it not working for you?

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Did you do coilovers? My MountainPass Performance made a huge difference in the ride quality for me. I don't believe this would solve the booming issue, but did greatly improve the ride. For me.

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I just tested mine last week. Firmware 164-1. No issues on EA charger. Got 50kW on a Tesla Model Y 2021 built in February 2021.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I would offer that the noise reduction kit will not help with this issue. Swap the tubing with the PVC hatch stops because you will likely add the tubing and then have to redo the hatch stops. I would suggest going the 3D printed route if possible. I never could find PVC that would fit...

    CCS Adapter - ?

I would offer two reasons: 1) CHAdeMO is phasing out and charges at slower rates 2) CCS1 is increasing in availability and charges much faster

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I just got my Korean adapter and tested it today, along with the SETEC. I tested the SETEC to verify that it works prior to putting it on eBay.
  24. JonB65

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

Just verified my SETEC CCS adapter still works fine. Charged MY on an EA 350kW station. SETEC pulled 46 kW at 70% State of Charge on my battery. This is with firmware 164-1. My MY is 2022.8.3 software version.

    CCS1 Tesla Adapter

    Just got back from testing my Tesla CCS1 adapter. I went to a 350 kW EA charger, arriving at 19% State of Charge and a pre-conditioned battery. Outside temp was 65F. Here are my results: SOC% kW mi/hr 19 175 732 30 177 742 33 181 757 40 151 631 47...

All Season Tire Preferences - MICHELIN PILOT SPORT ALL SEASON VS VREDESTEIN QUATRAC PRO VS EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS

I drive pretty smoothly. Only a couple "take-offs" just to show friends once in a while. The Goodyears started at 10/32 (8mm) and currently have 7/32 (5.3mm). My tire gauge measures in mm and that is easier for me. I used a conversion calculator to estimate the 32's. You may want to consider...

All Season Tire Preferences - MICHELIN PILOT SPORT ALL SEASON VS VREDESTEIN QUATRAC PRO VS EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS

I'm curious to hear more. How is the road noise? I bought the Quatrac Pros 255/45R20 to install when my OEMs wear down, or before next winter, whichever arrives first. Currently have 17k miles on the OEM Goodyears.

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I'm testing mine tomorrow. 2021 MY. I'll post the results. I also received my CCS adapter from Korea today. I'll post those results too. Going to a 350 kW charger, and planning on arriving with 20% battery and pre-conditioned.

Easy and effective low frequency fix

I I have ordered those tires in 255/45R20. I'm interested in hearing how the road noise is. I'll be swapping them as soon as my OEMs wear down, or before next winter, whichever comes first.

    Pre Cut Tint Kit

I bought my XPEL tint from opuspremiumfilms.com after seeing some good references here on TMC. I was really happy with them and Josh was very responsive to my emails. I had never done tint before, but had just finished up doing my PPF, again with no experience. My tint went REALLY well and I'm...

Easy and effective low frequency fix

All depends on how much of an issue the booming is for you. I didn't really have an issue with mine, but did the tubing and the hatch stops just because I like projects.

Xpel Prime XR vs PLUS worth the extra $150?

Is the color of the XR and the XR Plus different? If so, would that bother you after a while? I'm not making a judgement here, just offering a point for you to consider.

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

Mine went low as well. I think the fronts were around 15.75". I drove 1700 miles round trip to Alabama. When I got back I pulled the front tires to adjust the height up and found the inside tread of both tires worn quite a bit. I'm going to get as close to 16.5" as I can, adjusting next TUE when...

Ceramic Coating on top of PPF

Seems to be holding up quite nicely. I am WAY overdue for a wash, but last week I was in Alabama at my niece's house. It is pollen season there. Before I began my trip home I took her hose and just sprayed the car off. Water really beaded up like crazy, so the coating is still there and working...

    Time to DIY PPF!!

That was my thinking for doing the doors as well. Deep keying isn't going to be stopped by PPF, but my thought was any little bit could help. I didn't do my rear hatch. I also watched some YouTube videos and it looked like the rear hatch was pretty difficult to do. For the front bumper make...
  41. JonB65

    Time to DIY PPF!!

If you can possibly raise the front end when you do the bumper, I highly recommend that. I used two floor jacks to raise the front of the car and it helped a great deal. You should also consider doing the doors. They are easy and you will have protection, especially on the rear flair out area...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I'm in the middle of a 900 mile road trip. Drove 9 hours yesterday. The car is pretty full, with the sub trunk loaded with speaker components and the rear packed with three suitcases. Drove the entire way just talking (it's been a long time since we've seen each other) and no radio. I didn't...

The unofficial "when do I get my FSD beta update" FAQ

Same thing just happened to me. 2022.4.5.18 -> 2022.8.2 I just went ahead an installed it, figuring my chances of beta are low anyway. Who knows? I hope your delay proves fruitful.

3D Printed Rigid Hatch Stops (to reduce uneven road noise)

I will caveat that I am not an expert in this. :) Take the 3D printed hatch stop off and hold the rubber stopper in one hand while you twist the plastic OEM support all the way up against the hatch. The slide the 3D printed hatch stop over that. I believe the rubber should stick out a little...

    Cabin noise in model Y

@Pianewman I agree that this can't be happening with all/most MYs. I also had continued boominess after my MPP coilover installation. For me, I think the hatch stops adjustment make the biggest difference/improvement. I can change the hatch stop adjustment and bring the boominess back. This...

    Cabin noise in model Y

Yes, rigid hatch stops. This is the tubing I used, but others have had success with slight variations larger: https://www.lowes.com/pd/EZ-FLO-5-16-in-Inner-Diameter-x-20-ft-PVC-Clear-Vinyl-Tubing/1000365029
  47. JonB65

    Cabin noise in model Y

I'll second this. I did MPP coilovers, mass loaded vinyl, acoustic foam, tubing, and rigid hatch stops. MPP improved the ride considerably. Tubing and hatch stops helped the boominess more than anything else. Still glad I did everything to make the car quiet. Can't wait to get new tires when...

    Time to DIY PPF!!

After having done mine, with no experience, I would start with the doors, then the hood, then the front fender, finish with the front bumper. If you can put the front of the car up on two jack stands it is quite helpful. A second pair of hands is highly recommended. And you do need to get the...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I also did NOT use any sort of anti-seize or lubricant when I did my MPP install several weeks ago. I have heard no squeaks and love the comfort coilovers more with each drive.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Picked up my 3D printed hatch stops today from the library. I'll do my test drive tomorrow and see if I can tell the difference. Hatch closed with no issue.
