First time user of ABRP - trip planning question

Hate to resurrect this since someone is so obsessed (and kindof nasty if others have a different opinion). Gee, miles is an estimate, too?!? Here's where you lose me: Feel free to school me if you wrote the code, but ... I don't think you have any insight into what values actually go into...

First time user of ABRP - trip planning question

After reading over the last couple days of this thread I have to agree with @KenC that you're using a straw man argument. You decide how you want to define the issue and the build your argument around it. Voilà, you can't be wrong! You said, "Miles is more informative because it INFORMS you...

LOL ... "skip the hate." Over-react much? The only "strong emotional response" is your stretch to justify a complaint about a non-issue. Re: "Gone in 60 seconds," I'll give you my car if you can figure out my pin code in 60 seconds.

First time user of ABRP - trip planning question

Have to disagree with this. @darth_vad3r said "percent is a lot LESS meaningful.Percent is relative to "100%" ... and "100%" can change ... from degradation, miscalibration, software-nerfing by the mothership, impending battery failure, etc." Miles is no less susceptible to "degredation...

Enhanced Summon? Can we just get regular summon to work all the time first!

I was going to just ignore this like everyone else ... don't feed the trolls ... but ... Why would you use summon in a parking lot? That's just rude, making other drivers wait for you to summon your car out of the parking spot, walk over, get in, buckle up, put it in 'gear,' finish backing out...

General Safety of 3 given size?

Just to add a little to the previous two posts, there are a couple of issues other than simply size and weight that work in the Model 3's favor. The Model 3 has relatively large front and rear "crumple" zones which absorb significant amounts of energy in a crash. And, important to accident...

    Why does NEMA 6-20 (240v 20a) get 4x the charge of 5-20 (120v 20a)?

The numbers on the Teslas website are a little optimistic, but that is only part of the explanation. Charging at higher rates is more efficient (the 'overhead' @darth_vad3r referred to) in all cases. Real world example: When I was charging (at home) from a NEMA 5-15 (120V, 15A) I was getting...

    Preventing theft

PITA, maybe, but "silly-not-secure" is bogus. Assuming just 5 seconds per try, it can take up to 14 hours to enter all possible combinations of a four digit pin code a 0-9 grid. Just how many car thieves are going to see a pin-code screen pop up and sit there randomly trying to crack it...

Can't charge at home. Optimal charging habits?

This is a little out of the box, but in your circumstance I would charge to 70% on the way home each day. You'll stay between roughly 55% and 70% each day (assuming the 20 mile commute is each way) which puts you in tier 1 ($0.14/minute). And it will take less than 15 minutes at the charging...

Did Tesla's Speed Cause You to Get Speeding Tickets?!

My experience is, a little self-control goes a long way. As to "Did Tesla's Speed Cause You to Get Speeding Tickets?!" the answer is no, if you get a ticket it isn't Tesla's speed. It is the lack of speed in the neurons between your ears.

Two separate 120 volt / 15 amp outlets combined?

I use this in my townhouse because wiring the garage is problematic (expensive to upgrade). Works well with just a couple caveats. - cannot plug into GFCI circuit. - (as mentioned) must find two outlets out of phase. I have the 15A version as all available outlets are 15A. I get 9.4 MPH from...

How long do you charge at Superchargers

True. My experience only, I see more Model Ss and Model Xs at urban superchargers and more Model 3s at enroute superchargers. Last weekend on the way out to the coast I saw only Model 3s at Quartzite and mostly Model 3s at Cabazon. And only Model 3s at Quartzite on the return on Sunday. FWIW.
