Alot of the 4680 hype has disappeared with underwhelming introduction of the Austin Model Y. I would be skeptical until we have real world experience and reporting on these cars. If I was buying now I would wait a year to see if they experience problems.

Take a drive in the Y first and include a rough piece of road. I love my Y but the suspension needs some love. I may do coil overs.

I've seen some speculation online the 4680 is currently disappointing because they don't have the battery chemistry right yet. So it may be better in the future.

It’s for stoplights and stop signs. It might be part of the FSD package. I have it but I’m not part of the Beta.

I try to stay between 20% to 80% normally but have no issues occasionally going outside that range. Especially if I’m going on a long drive where there is no supercharger I’ll charge to 90% to 100%.

There is a beta for the traffic light and stop sign recognition and stopping. I have it on my car but tried it one day and realized it wasn’t ready for prime time, slowed and stopped too soon.

It’s damn annoying. The only fix I have found is not to be in the right lane and stick to the middle lane if it exists or drive fast in the left lane.

The question now is why do you want a 4680 car at all? Shorter range with a small reduction in price is not worth it to me. 2170 all the way baby!

I would need to see the LFP batteries tested in colder temps than that. Typical Minnesota winter has temps in the -5F to -20F range.

My guess is the Standard models are all going to employees as a continuation of testing. So they are driven in the real world and any issues they discover are kept secret. Most likely they got a really good price on the cars as well.

Sure it's them because I had to speak with at least 3 of THEM to find out about my car and get delivery arranged. It would have been nice to be taken care of by one person but the first SA I talked with blew me off and I had to call back for another.

In my purchase experience emails get mostly ignored and if you want action you need to get them on the phone where you have their full attention.

This is the kind of thing I'm expecting with Ford and Chevy pickups. I have absolutely no confidence that they will get the engineering right with their history of cutting corners as much as possible to get maximum profit at the expense of the owner.

Tesla promises: FSD will be done, and done, and done. Cybertruck and Roadster will be in production. 4680 batteries will be the best thing since sliced bread. Your mileage may vary.

It's especially hard to judge with an EV because regen might cause the brakes not to be used for a while.

Not sure if my next car will be an EV. It will be replacing an SUV and depends on how well charging infrastructure is built up in northern Minnesota where l travel and recreate. If it doesn’t grow enough in the next few years I will get a hybrid or plug in hybrid.

They will just have to bump up the sensors and/or processing power until they get it. They are just trying to do it the cheapest way possible so it takes longer.

The main problem is that we don’t know how they will use the 4680 batteries in the car. Will they just maintain the current range and pocket the profits? Will they increase the range? And if they do that do they charge more? I wish Tesla would tell us what they are doing. It’s past time.

This is why I never enabled auto close or auto open on Homelink. Since it has no idea if the door is opened or closed, or what is in the way, it's an accident waiting to happen. Just push the button when it's safe using your human judgment.

I’m wondering if it is hypersensitivity to noise. The supercharger station makes noise and the heat pump also kicks into high gear. Try some noise canceling headphones next time you go.

My first wash was through an automated car wash and had a small amount of water in the front trunk. I washed it next in one of those wand/brush commercial car washes next and it was dry.
