    Supercharger - Socorro, NM

As for the suggestion that EA, or some other CCS/Chademo network, is the answer. The Chademo adapter hasn't been available from Tesla for years — and is a nearly dead format anyway — and CCS adapters won't work at all with older cars, so far as I'm aware. I'd love to be wrong about the latter...

Yes. My last time limping from Farmington to Albuquerque at slow speed in March, I charged at the UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center on Level 2 to make it the rest of the way. If a Supercharger Station came to Grants NM I'd just go the slightly longer way and skip the US 550 direct route (223...

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

When I investigated Bluetooth transmitters some years ago I found that they did NOT work with Tesla. They were intended for home use and were not compatible, for reasons that I no longer recall.

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

I use the FM radio to listen to audiobooks on my little Sansa Clip MP3 player, using an FM transmitter. Kludgy, but it works. Tesla couldn't be bothered to include a 3.5 mm jack to plug the MP3 player in directly. Given that many of us, myself included, use phones via Bluetooth to listen to...

Moving to Denver- Looking for advice on about security for my car

"Higher taxes" is relative. It isn't widely known but Colorado has the fourth lowest property taxes in the country (source: Kiplinger's). My property taxes for a house on five acres in a rural county are currently $1382 (although I paid $988, due to the senior exemption). That's rather low...

^ I have MCU1 without the emmc upgrade (so far, still waiting). It is LTE (4g) and voice commands work fine when the car has a bar or two of cell reception, which is most places nowadays.

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

While I agree that parking lot solar offers significant benefits from shading cars, at least in sunny and hot areas, suggesting that it reduces the heat island effect gives me pause. Solar panels are dark colored hardscape that get plenty hot. I would guess that they would contribute to the...

Not likely! Simple attrition will cause the early cars to disappear. Even now the old S-85s and S-60s are just a tiny number of cars on the road and at the superchargers. Next time you are at a crowded Supercharger Station see for yourself and do a count. We aren't the problem. I've only had to...

Lucky you! I routinely charge for an hour to an hour and a half in my S-60 to do longer trip legs. And I've had to turn back three times due to headwinds when I just couldn't make it and there were zero Level 2 options enroute (very common in the Intermountain West). This is over 128,000 miles...

    Supercharger Pricing Map?

My last 90,000 miles have averaged 266 Wh/mile in my S-60, so your numbers seem high to me, given that the Model 3 is so much more efficient than my old 2014 Model S. Perhaps you do mostly high speed driving? I realize that I am an outlier, but I usually make my overnight stops at campgrounds...

Holbrook AZ to Phoenix via Payson or via Pinetop / Globe?

This is in the category of "suggestion" since I've only done your route 1, a moderately scenic and easy drive through the mountains via Payson. Albuquerque to Holbrook strikes me as a rather short day, only 233 miles, about three hours. So, I'll suggest a side trip through Petrified Forest...

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

Supercharger rates have gone up a lot recently. However, they are still cheaper than gas by most measures, unless one is comparing to a Prius. I charged at a new Supercharger Station (Lamar CO) last week that was at 43 cents/kWh. That works out to less than 13 cents/mile for my old S-60 or...

    Supercharger - Gallup, NM

Gallup and Holbrook were part of the original transcontinental Supercharger route (along with Grand Junction, Moab, Blanding, and Farmington). Tesla was still learning about where to install Supercharger Stations and likely had to take what they could get. Now, I would guess, Supercharger...

    Supercharger - Lamar, CO

I can't see this location getting much use. Lamar? The number of drivers using that stretch of US 50, versus the Interstates, figures to be tiny. Yet Tesla never gets around to putting in a Supercharger Station in Alamosa, gateway to Great Sand Dunes National Park, or Cortez, gateway to Mesa...

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

With regard to arcing, when unplugging: if you were to unlock your port with your fob, screen or phone, wouldn't that shut off current? Do that before unplugging and I would assume that the car is no longer drawing current and the adapter is safe to remove from the CCS plug.

    Tankless water heaters are terrible....

Being energy conscious was a goal in designing my house and using an on demand water heater: it only heats water when the water flows, rather than heating a tank that just sits most of the time. Back then I was on propane and it was expensive and had annoying yo-yo pricing patterns. Back in...
