Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It may actually be zero. They are not even bothering to email Tesla owners when insurance becomes available in their states. I knew and signed up for it only because of the forums. Even the news doesn't adequately cover it.

Drastic spikes during peak production hours

Thanks for the follow-up. That means you saw this issue occur from the beginning of your install? In my case, it worked fine for the first 9 months or so before it started to show this issue... They did come and check the wiring of the panels, but did not find any issues. They are coming again...

Drastic spikes during peak production hours

Update to my original issue: 1. Tesla did remote troubleshooting and could not find any issues. They told me that their Inverter alerts them or logs low coolant alerts. 2. First appointment: Tesla technician came out, checked the inverter and other installations at ground level and found no...

Drastic spikes during peak production hours

Tesla checked the Inverter logs and told me they don't see any alerts for low coolant. They personally came and checked everything, and did not find any issue either.

Amazing write-up! Kudos to your effort. I think very very few utility professionals understand this, and most of those who understand are not in a position of great influence. Utilities are moving at the speed of ICE Auto right now, and will get majorly disrupted!

Good luck, @hobapolis . Keep us posted. I have not had a chance to follow up on my case yet... But will do it first thing tomorrow.

Yes, I do have a Tesla inverter.

    Current Delivery Times

I had the luck(?) to order literally on the day or day before FSD went up by $2 K. So, reluctant to remove it... And oh, didn't the MY base price also go up since then?
  12. A

    Sudden Production Drop

Thank you. I will take your advice and get on their case daily. Was not too impressed by their first level support advisors. The first person I talked to just looked at the total production number, said it was 105% of the promised capacity and concluded there was nothing wrong. The second person...

Drastic spikes during peak production hours

For the past 3-4 months, I have been seeing frequent drops in production to almost zero or 1-2 kw between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM, when I have over 6-7 kw production on my 8.16 kw system. See the graph for what I mean - it has been a consistent daily trend to see these spikes. I think the...

    Current Delivery Times

Anyone have luck requesting Tesla to put your order off for a quarter or two? When I placed the order, the delivery estimate was July. I expected to take delivery in July or later, but got a text message yesterday saying I could expect a delivery this month! I am not financially ready for it...

    Sudden Production Drop

What a coincidence OP! This exact thing happened to me, but two days before you. In my case also, production dropped to zero around that same noon time, but on Thursday. And my system did not start producing again until 430 PM on Friday. So, from noon on Thursday to 430 PM on Friday, I had zero...

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

This is more or less what I did. I bumped up the peak buy to be much higher. Kept the off-peak buy and sell, as well as the on-peak sell to be the same as before. That seems to have done the trick. I did provide feedback to Tesla to allow setting sell price to be higher than buy price, and also...

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

I thought of doing this. In fact, I approached it the other way around - I tried to set the peak sell price to be lesser than the peak buy price. However, it wouldn't let me save the setting without also changing the off-peak sell price to be lesser than the off-peak buy price. I don't want to...

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

@UnPluggedXX - Thinking about this further, have you set your Powerwalls for time-based control? If yes, what is your buy price vs your sell price? I think this might explain the behavior. I am in a special situation where my per kwh sell price is higher than my buy price for both peak and...

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

I have this exact same issue. I used to have my Powerwalls set to time-based control with backup reserve at 97%. Every day, the 3% Powerwall charge was used during peak hours, then the next morning, the Powerwall would top off to 100% with solar production, then discharge again to 97% during the...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Since we are talking taxes, here's a PSA: Cash App tax filing (formerly Credit Karma tax filing) does not support Arizona Form 310 to get the $1000 solar tax credit in Arizona. I learnt this after I had put in all my information and was reviewing before starting the filing. Have to re-do this...

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

Arizona Public Service (APS). They have a plan called Saver Choice Max or TOU with Demand. They sell you power for 5 cents or 9 cents per kwh (price varies by on-peak / off-peak and summer/winter). They buy back excess power for 9.45 cents per kwh. Be careful on this rate though - the Demand...

    Current Delivery Times

I have an alternate theory. Hear me out. What if they have production setup to rotate equally among the different configurations? Eg: 1.5 days a week for each paint color. From Tesla's perspective, they are treating all the colors equally regardless of price. From the customer's perspective, the...

Email from Tesla - Powerwall uses 3G Cellular Please connect to Wifi or Ethernet

Same here. And it has already pre-selected the same network the Gateway is on.
  25. A

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

Gotta love my Arizona utility! I am on a service plan where the buy price is lower than the sell price. After I selected my service plan in the app, Tesla thinks there is an error in my tariff! It shows a red message that says, "Sell price should not be greater than buy price." 😁

Email from Tesla - Powerwall uses 3G Cellular Please connect to Wifi or Ethernet

I don't think the Gateway being connected to the WiFi is same as the Powerwall being connected to the WiFi. Others can correct me if I am wrong, but they are two different connections as far as I know.

Email from Tesla - Powerwall uses 3G Cellular Please connect to Wifi or Ethernet

For what it's worth, I am having the EXACT same issue in Android also. I should have checked here first before spending almost a hour troubleshooting myself!

Anyone else being forced to cancel long-pending MY reservation?

Actually, I am surprised that you are surprised. As things stand today, a MAJORITY of Tesla's products, including their solar products, have no reasonably accurate estimate for when the customers can take delivery. For almost all of Tesla's products, it is the norm for customers to eagerly order...

    Current Delivery Times

It appears that Tesla is making a big end of year push to deliver as many vehicles as possible. So, it is quite possible that you may end up getting yours before the end of the year. I have a similar question as you and wondering what are the options for pushing actual delivery by a couple of...

    Current Delivery Times

That's so unreasonable, I doubt it's true. There are any number of valid reasons to reject a delivery. Tesla wouldn't want to lose a subsequent sale from the same customer due to that.

    Current Delivery Times

This is what Tesla mentioned in their email to me: So, they are canceling the order if you reject the VIN. I hope they don't cancel the order if you reject due to some legit issues with the car at delivery!

Anyone else being forced to cancel long-pending MY reservation?

There is an additional detail to what Tesla is telling people with orders on hold: So, your order could get canceled even if you reject the VIN! What are some legit reasons one might reject a VIN - too many manufacturing defects? Anything else? Do old orders forfeit the ability to reject the...

Anyone else being forced to cancel long-pending MY reservation?

Reviving this thread based on reports of order HODLERs being asked to activate their orders by Dec 2nd. How many of you got this email? Did you talk to your SAs after that? What happens when you remove the hold on your order? Do you go to the back of the queue and are treated like a new order...

Should I wait for 2021-2022 Model Y upgrade?

I was driving closer to 80 mph, and it was mostly uphill when I lost 60% driving 77 miles. It was just so shocking for me. That's when I went back and checked the trip details from last month when I drove the same route with the Avalon. Was quite shocked to see I drove the same terrain in the...

Should I wait for 2021-2022 Model Y upgrade?

Purely anecdotal recent experience with a 2020 AWD LR MY with 20-inch wheels: - Used up 60% battery charge driving 77 miles, about 60 miles over hilly terrain. So, just 128 miles total range over hilly terrain? - Used 25% battery charge driving 55 miles on city freeway. 220 miles total range...

Some average people, especially the elderly can also be misled. Had an elderly friend buy an ID4 recently. Asked him why he didn't buy a Tesla. He said his son did all the research and recommended the ID4 to satisfy their requirements: 1. They wanted an SUV. They were told Model X is the only...

Powerwall In Garage [what are the rules around this?]

Not Bay Area, but my city code requires interconnected heat detector if PW is installed indoors. Tesla included it in the design. The installer missed installing it and my inspection failed. They came by the same day and installed it. I did not have to pay anything.

Tesla Solar 10-year loan, 10% down, 0.99 APR

I support the previous response. It's substantial money to give up. Try escalating above your advisor. I had a tax rebate matching issue that I escalated and the advisor's manager agreed to it. Ultimately it was not required as the government extended the rebate another year. But ththe point is...

Tesla Solar 10-year loan, 10% down, 0.99 APR

Was able to chat with Tesla sales. They told me that they work with Sunlight and Mosaic to provide solar loans. Since Sunlight said they can't refinance their own loan, I called Mosaic. They told me that they cannot refinance any loans or even provide a fresh loan for me. I have to go through...

Tesla Solar 10-year loan, 10% down, 0.99 APR

I called Tesla Billing to see if I could refinance my existing Sunlight loan. They said I should talk to Sunlight about refinancing. Before calling Sunlight, I even asked Tesla Billing if Sunlight is the bank that is doing the new 0.99% APR loans, and they didn't know that! Sunlight told me...

Tesla Solar 10-year loan, 10% down, 0.99 APR

You may be able to get it changed if you just took it today. For my install, when I had some taxes removed, they re-did the loan documentation without any issues. I think as long as you don't have PTO and have not made any payments yet, you can have it re-done. Talk to your advisor.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yes! The switchover to 4680 will be a case study in itself. Model Y 2.0 from Austin and Berlin have been hyped already for improvements beyond just the batteries. But that's not very common public knowledge. So, the demand for legacy MY from Fremont continues. When it is time to switchover, how...
