    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

Every spec I've seen lists it at just under 7k lbs. What have you found that says its 5k lbs? The lowest from one place electricvehiclespecs lists it at under 6k lbs but I think that's not real. It's the same platform as the R1T, so it would be pretty remarkable if they were able to shave 1000...

Can’t PPF the whole car, what is the bare minimum to get done?

Full front plus rear door quarter will get you the most bang for the buck. Btw you can get the rear door quarter kit on Amazon for $40 and have your shop do full front.

Vendor Redwood Motorsports Model Y - Ohlins DFV (Performance and Grand Touring Specs)

I would suggest that you do not want to add swaybars to a coilover setup, the stocks are fine. If you go coils, at least wait till you have the coils dialed in before adding sways as you will most likely not need them. Swaybars essentially add more spring rate and your stiffness should be...

Do we have any recourse for this insanely poor paint quality?

Uh huh, and why do you think Porsche owners opt to buy the rock guards? Note I have a Turbo with body colored rock guards too.
  9. thesmokingman

Do we have any recourse for this insanely poor paint quality?

They're called rock guards and they've been using them on their cars for decades. It's de rigueur on Porsches you might say. If the Tesla has bad paint, then why does Porsche (option) use rock guards, aka PPF before the market had a broad name for it?

    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

That Hummer EV seriously scares the *sugar* outta me, it's literally carrying a battery pack the weight of a whole car. Like WTF man, c'mon GM??

    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

There's a couple around me. It looks a lot better in black, but yea still those headlights, those headlights argh... Less efficient is a nice way of putting it when its the record holder for least efficient EV ever produced.

Shopping for an ICE for my wife...

Please don't go down this idiotic rabbit hole. If one is about budet, one can get a cheaper EV and save. I didn't buy the MYP for luxury or one aspect over another. Its the whole package. And I would not have thought to buy a cheaper ICE vs the MYP, so I can save 20K which is a number made up...

This thread has been about nothing but randomness for pages. Your reply is typical BS, framed to fit your silly point in framing gas costs vs car vs ev, stupidiness. I brought up gas prices because the prices are freaking insane. You took that as an invitation to regurgitate anti EV agenda...

Traction Control activating due to staggered wheels?

I don't think its the staggered wheels. Check the Model Y Performance for instance, its got staggered and different sized circumference tires. Also the 3 years on the same staggered wheelset kind of defeats the idea of it being the wheels. Do you get any other errors?

    TPMS assigned to wrong wheel

I'm talking about controlling the tpms sensors. You used to have some control over them but with the newer sensors, you can't do anything except two scroll salute. To get them rearranged or one that is stuck off, there's nothing end users can do.
  23. thesmokingman

    TPMS assigned to wrong wheel

That's not really control, its just coincidence that you can rotate on square setups. On staggered tesla setups, you can basically do nothing w/o a tech.

Ah yea, I forgot ppl can del their own posts, my bad.
  25. thesmokingman

    TPMS assigned to wrong wheel

The later cars lost control over TPMS, can't really do anything about it and you have to go thru service. When you were at the garage that was a good time to swap the wheels front to back.

    Tire rotation best practices….?

Directional tires dictate the path of rotations, which is to maintain the tires directional orientation. Plainly, that's front to back, etc etc, and never criss cross. Check your tires to confirm whether they're directional, if directional front to back, if not either or.

coolant leak in rear drive unit (12k miles on odometer) and Tesla says someone touched it so the warranty NOT applicable

That's a pretty good outcome. Your previous posts implied a huge negative outcome, like suggesting you lost your warranty on the cooling system and potentially battery. What it looks like is the tech said this hose shouldn't be here, therefore it was moved by another party. I can fix it but it's...

That is a bizarre flaw and frankly sketchy as hell. The pedals are supposed to be OVER engineered and not liable to break due to a small part. It's sketchy because most of the vehicle is over engineered o its rather surprising to find these gaps.

Carfax is only good for checking if the title is clean. It is NO guarantee on the actual condition of a car. In a modded part fight, the MMA forces Tesla to prove a mod created the failure. You're situation is MUCH different. They uncovered alterations to the car which caused it to lose...

I told you earlier, who you gonna go after? The seller or Tesla? You're getting terrible advice to fight Tesla. You have no leg to stand on. You didn't verify the car was clean when buying it. You don't have anything to argue other than Tesla should just do it for the customer. But they are...

    Advice on wrapping and PPF?

Vinyl wraps are thinner than PPF, so it won't give as much rock protection damage but it will still give some. You also get the other benefits of PPF, protection from hard water, droppings, small rock chips, and uv damage. It's a great way to change the color w/o the permanence. Also black is...
