Supercharger - Sherman Oaks, CA (under construction May 2022, 40 V3 stalls)

Yeah, every third spot is unused in the garage as cars don't fit. Now I'm worried the car will show available chargers but you won't be able to charge as you can't get to the charger.

If a third of your mirror image is your car; you are adjusting the mirrors wrong. You need to mirrors to see other cars, not your car.

2017-2020 Model 3 recalled for trunk/rear camera issue

There are two different recalls that are mentioned together. On the 3, the issue is that the coaxial cable can get excessive wear causing the rear camera to no longer work - annoying, but not really overly dangerous. However, for the Model S; the secondary latch on the frunk may be misaligned...

    Tesla Wall Charger VS J1772

Which rebate are you applying for? Some state that they require J1772 but when you read the requirements, Tesla HPWC are acceptable. I had the same thought when I did my LADWP rebate a few years ago - I thought it needed to be a J1772 but was able to get the rebate for the HPWC.

V11 is going to be HUGE!

The S/X have the binnacle so they don't need to waste space in the center screen with the speedometer, gear selection and other info. If they use the same display the S/X will have 1/3 of the center screen useless with redundant information.

    Supercharger - Lake Arrowhead, CA (LIVE 17 Nov 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Hotel didn't have destination charging and didn't ask about plugging into 120v (I'm not even sure how much charge you can do overnight in 20º temperatures). I had a back up plan in case the charge got too low.

    Supercharger - Lake Arrowhead, CA (LIVE 17 Nov 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

We just did a few days up at Big Bear during the kid's spring break. I decided to take the Tesla instead of my wife's Subaru as I plan to replace her car with the Y and wanted to see if it's doable. We stopped at Fontana Supercharger on the way up to "top off." Used 32% battery from Fontana...

Supercharger - Sherman Oaks, CA (under construction May 2022, 40 V3 stalls)

Pretty much all the retailers there validate for a minimum of one hour. There's a Starbucks, Robek Juice & Ben & Jerry's so plenty of choices. Unfortunately, parking booth hours are 24/7 so no free parking to charge during discounted rates.

How are Texan Tesla owners dealing w/ unreliable and expensive electricity?

While it is the State's doing, you can't make millions of innocent residents suffer for the short-sightness/greediness of a handful of people. Not all of us can fly off to Cancun to get away from the situation. We are still one country and we need to look out for everyone in the country.
  13. TT97

Auto open frunk for $15 [non electric]

I have had those same struts since May 2019 with no issues. As far as the hood opening while driving, even with the standard struts, if you are travelling at any normal speed and the latch isn't secure, it will blow the hood open.
  14. TT97

    All Electric Brands?

I did think of that and also hoping Toyota divests itself from Subaru. They are an albatross. (Tesla should buy out Toyota and provide engineering to Subaru :)). I am surprised Hyundai/Kia hasn't already made the announcement. The new Ioniq 5 looks very promising.
  15. TT97

    All Electric Brands?

With GM and Jaguar/Land Rover recently announcing they would convert their offerings to electrified vehicles and Ford announcing they would only continue poisoning people outside of Europe, who should be the next manufacturer to go all in on electrification? My vote is for Subaru. I like their...

    Orbital Wheel Covers

I was part of their Kickstarter. They sent an update a couple weeks ago stating they are " getting things in motion for shipping" (whatever that means). Have not received any further updates. They have done some local pickup deliveries and I believe they are in Ohio if you are near them.

New Model S interior - finally! (from the Q4 report)

Variable ratio power steering is common, however, all it does is change the effort required to turn the wheel at different speeds. There is also variable-ratio steering that uses different ratios in the rack and pinion steering system. It has different ratios as you turn the wheel to make the...

    CT Steering Wheel Replacement

F1 drivers don't seem to have any issues driving 200 mph on a city street either yet would have serious issues taking their car off road or trying a k-turn.

Tracking Trip Details for business expense purposes

There are plenty of third party apps that use the Tesla API to track mileage (to the 1/100 of a mile). I use TeslaFi (see post #6) but lots of options available both through browsers as well as dedicated apps.

    2020.40.x

While commonly that is the case, that is not always true for Tesla. For example, 2019.32 had key fob security improvements, additional language support and status bar for software update. 2019.32.10 introduced public Ver. 10. I know it is an extreme example but there have been other instances...

can you drive with no running lights (or headlights)?

I also had a drive-through Halloween exhibit this weekend and when first asked to turn off the headlights; had no idea how to turn them off (for some strange reason, I kept looking on the stalk to turn off the lights). Setting the lights to "Off" turn on the DRL which was pointless. Luckily...

Just got 2020.40.8, no range increase for M3P

The improved efficiency is only for the Model Y. There is a newish site Tesla Software Updates - Not a Tesla App that shows all the release notes for each update including which cars the notes apply to and for which locations.

V11 is going to be HUGE!

Tesla doesn't have the Version # in their update number (it will look like any other update). I believe the first Ver. 10 update last year was 2019.32.10.
  31. TT97

V11 is going to be HUGE!

My personal guess is if the release can transfer some FSD funds from deferred income to income; they will do everything they can to get it in Q4.

Anyone thinking about an VW ID.4 Instead?

I would love to see the I.D. Buzz come out but I have seen too many microbus concept cars from VW to hold my breath for this one as well. Plus, I noticed the tailgate incorporates the rear bumper - I have read from many experts that is a huge design flaw/defect.

CBS sold off their radio stations; it's Entercom that pulled the stations off of TuneIn so that you are forced to use their app (which is not available in Teslas).

Supercharger - Burbank, CA - North Third Street (LIVE 14 Sep 2017, 20 V2 stalls)

PSA: Double check your child car seat, especially after service

This. There are a lot of components located under the rear seat and they need to remove the seat to get to them. The first time I brought in my car, they had to remove the chld seat and placed it in the trunk. Odd that they would try to reinstall the seat. I would recommend to everyone to...

Tesla to unlock the +5mph stop sign / stop light limit

Ok, this matches to what I have, which brings me back to my original question, what does the tweet mean? Since currently, they cap it at what the car thinks is the speed limit and not +5 mph, does the tweet mean they will allow +5 mph with stop light recognition or are they removing the cap all...

Tesla to unlock the +5mph stop sign / stop light limit

I'm confused. If stop sign/traffic light recognition is on, my car has a cap on what the car thinks is the speed limit, don't even get the +5 mph anymore. Do other people get +5 mph with traffic light recognition. Are they changing to go back to +5 mph or will they remove the limits all...

Homelink included in any model 3? [not any longer]

I understand not having it included, what I don't understand is why they can't option it in to the purchase. They should be able to install it for you before you get the car. At a minimum, just send a mobile technician to the delivery center every morning and install for people who want them.

    Own vs Lease?

Tesla doesn't need a captive finance arm to play with the residuals. The bank is not getting the car back at the end of the lease, Tesla is; the bank doesn't care what the residual value is. For the bank, it is in essence a loan with a balloon payment at the end of the term. They don't care...

    Own vs Lease?

Your arguments make more of a compelling case to not buy new as opposed to leasing vs buying. Naturally, if you drive 25k milers per year, it doesn't make sense to lease a vehicle with 15k annual miles (of course, you can still do a high mileage lease but not sure if Tesla offers those). The...
  49. TT97

    Own vs Lease?

Are you asking on how sales tax credit works on trade-ins or how it applies to leases? As you are only paying sales tax on the lease payments, you only pay on the total payments and not on the total value of the car. [This is the case in California, don't know if other states calculate sales...

    “ICEing” in Florida illegal

The way I read it is that this law only applies to Public Utilities. Any other operator can decide on their own if they want shared use. (And unfortunately, it also implies ICE'ing regulation only applies to Public Utilities' spaces.)
