Random delay when charging - New 2022 charge point regs now in force

Have you pointed out the regs only apply to newer chargers?

    TeslaMate [megathread]

It's those funny UK half metric half imperial units. I've used MPG for 40 years so bit hard to change now :)

    Charging for terraced houses

Might be worth getting in touch with the Council to ask if they have any plans to implement this sort of thing: https://news.oxfordshire.gov.uk/volunteers-test-out-uk-first-on-street-electric-vehicle-charger/

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I prefer cost/length unit. I find it easier to compare across types of car. L/100km is pretty meaningless to me although I know Europeans seem to like that figure.
  5. I

    TeslaMate [megathread]

It's a truck not a car, and that cost is about £1.35 a litre - almost free compared to UK prices! :)
  6. I

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I do it slightly differently. I compare it to what it would cost me to fill an ICE car to the equivalent number of miles. As most of my charging is free, I tend not to get too bothered about the costs :)
  7. I

    Is this normal?

It does in Speed Limit mode. Also there's a great big honking sign that says its in Speed limit mode. :)
  8. I

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Nice, by Maximum charge do you mean 100% or just to whatever you have set it to e.g. 80%?
  9. I

    Is this normal?

I stand corrected. You'd still see that it was in chill mode though and OP discounted this.

Random delay when charging - New 2022 charge point regs now in force

It just makes you wonder why they're doing it? Very rare for companies/governments to give money away.

Random delay when charging - New 2022 charge point regs now in force

I had a quick look a the regs this morning and I'm sure there was mention of user generated electricity being exempt from the delay. Edit: found it: There will also always be the option to bypass the delay:
  12. I

    Is this normal?

You can't set a speed restriction. Search this forum for complaints about not being able to limit the speed. Edit: Sorry I forgot about Speed Limit Mode. you could limit the speed that way, but you'd need to set a PIN so unlikely to do this accidentally - and it doesn't apply chill mode...

Random delay when charging - New 2022 charge point regs now in force

Point taken. Struggling without using carbon intensive /expensive backup generation may have been a better way to word it. But certainly doesn't appear to be a lot of spare capacity if that is needed. Is octopus Agile still a thing? Seems this is a bit more carroty than making the energy more...

Random delay when charging - New 2022 charge point regs now in force

I saw this at lunch time, on a similar vein. Either the National Grid is already struggling or they're expecting it to struggle come winter. Interesting experiment though: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-61949246

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

No one is suggesting it doesn't happen. There is just a difference in how often it happens. From nearly never to almost every trip. @GRiLLA is certainly right about the people who get it most often being the least keen to investigate why.

M3 won’t take Zappi excess solar, but MY will?

Have you tried a reboot of the M3?
  17. I

    TPMS assigned to wrong wheel

You used to be able to manually reset the TPMS - see this post: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/5989462/ Without going out to the car I can't check if that option is still there.

Sentry mode has triggered alarm state

Might be worth raising a case with Tesla to determine what sensor has been triggered.

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I once had a BMW with excellent self parking. Managed to squeeze into a very tight space. So tight I had to do a 15 point turn to get it back out :)

    Have you checked for flies/insects?

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Should have an NSFW warning :) That'll be why ;)
  23. I

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Yes. If you search in this thread you should see my dashboard panel for doing that. Although I only do it once a year, there's no reason you couldn't do it more often. Give me a shout if you can't find it.
  24. I

    TeslaMate [megathread]

No. Plenty of non-teslamate threads that ask for the same thing. Why do you need all the prices anyway? Unless you're travelling all around the country you only need to update a few and that probably takes less time than updating them all.

    M3 faulty charging cable???

Pretty clear if it works ok on one socket and not on the other then the problem is with the charger. What does Zap map say for that charger? Anyone else having issues?
  26. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Wasn't that one of the problems with radar? Perhaps that has been mitigated or now less common since they removed the radar.
  27. I

    M3 faulty charging cable???

I use my cable quite often and I don't have any browning of the pins. Do you use the same charger? As said above it could be the charger that's causing this or the cable.

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Here's an interesting thing in the manual: The last time I can recall getting Phantom braking I'm sure I noticed the speed limit drop. There's a junction near Stirling where a 30MPH road runs parallel to the off ramp and I'm sure at the time I thought it had picked up the wrong speed limit...
  29. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Normal. It's in the manual. Edit: I had EAP for a test and pretty sure that option was still there.
  30. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

That's really weird. I can drive at 70 mph, pull the stalk down once and the car will stay at 70mph. I can (and often do) adjust the speed with the right scroll wheel. Have you set the Set speed to "Current Speed" or "Speed Limit"?
  31. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I don't even know what that means. Surely you can set your car to drive at, say 110kmh and it will stay at 110kmh (subject to the caveats in the manual). Are you saying you can't do this?
  32. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Want to have a look at those posts again and tell me who wrote them? @GRiLLA sorry for hacking into your account :)
  33. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

@DrChaos is talking about the option to set the speed to the current speed - not the speed limit. Then you can choose whatever speed you want.
  34. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

When did I ever say phantom braking wasn't a thing? Pretty sure if you search my posts I mention at least one of my incidents with phantom braking.

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

It probably saw that mobile car crash in the inside lane :) But seriously, could it have mistaken the flashing reflection on the top most car as indicators? Would make sense that the car transporter was the cause if you've passed hundreds of 'normal' trucks.

I found this while looking at a non-solar project: https://findmyshadow.com Might be handy if, like me, you have a slightly higher building near you.

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

    Model 3s delivered in 2017 - 1764, 2021 - 911015 That gives a complaint rate of 0.4% in 2017 and 0.04% in 2021. Looks like things are getting better!

They charge in Rutherglen and Cambuslang :)

Charge Place Scotland Tariffs by Council

Glasgow did plan to introduce charges to recoup some of the cost - and hopefully fund maintenance - but that got canned for some reason or other. (just) Outside of Glasgow I've rarely had problems with my 2 local charge areas. Both have 2 Rapid chargers and almost always (network faults aside)...
  44. I

Charge Place Scotland Tariffs by Council

Sorry I should have quoted this part of his earlier post: CPS network is not just the chargers in Highland Council. Edit: Actually there are quite a few chargers on the CPS network that are not owned by Highland Council on the NC500 route that don't have the 45min limit
  45. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

The current radar sensors (on cars that have them) are very low resolution and infer the positions of object. Since all the computing is done in the sensor, there's not a lot Tesla's AI or computing can do to mitigate any errors. I guess this is why Tesla are creating their own hi-res radar...
  46. I

Charge Place Scotland Tariffs by Council

You were unlucky. There are very few chargers on the CPS network that have overstay fees for such a short time. My local ones are free and have no limit whatsoever. I also routinely get mid 40s kW which is enough to give me circa 45% additional charge in an LR in 45 minutes.
  47. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

You're misunderstanding what @GRiLLA is saying. He says there are other people not having the issues that you are having. Not that it never occurs. This is the real problem with Teslas - the inconsistency with issues.
  48. I

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I had a Jaguar that would slam on the brakes at a particular junction on a bend near me. Always mistook cars waiting at the junction for a car in the middle of the road. My Tesla has never done this.
