I can actually see a market for robotaxis in rural areas, perhaps more so. The geography and demand in those areas makes taxi services unfeasible but there are still people that can’t drive for various reasons. If you take the driver out of the mix it could make a big difference.

The thing to remember is even if it's the same route, it's functionally a different road on the way back because you're driving the opposite direction.
