Just bought my LONG RANGE Model Y made in Austin

common misconception The execution of the sale must happen out of state and payment must occur (to out of state recipient) before delivery is allowed. But at the time of payment the car is usually already in TX.

    FSD V GM CRUISE

I think the biggest issue with FSDb right now is that other road users (and pedestrians) have no way of knowing that the last <insert FSDb stupid maneuver here> wasn't the person in the drivers seat. I try to warn folks with a Student Driver badge on the back, but they see one person in the car...

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

Very excited to see what the Austin Y-LR really is. For those folks in the Austin/San Antonio area, if you aren't already, consider joining the Austin or San Antonio Tesla Owners Club. They are always organizing events and would be a great opportunity to show off your Austin Y  Tesla...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

I'm hoping that all Austin cars are AMD, its not like they have a backlog of spare parts hanging around there 🤣 Although that parking lot full of component trailers just seems to be getting more and more full.

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

If you're specifically hoping for an Austin car @youscott then changing to black seats might accelerate your order. So far the drone squad haven't seen any white seat cars rolling out into the lots. I wanted white seats with my Model 3, but didn't wait. So for the Y I'm waiting however long it...

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

Ignore them @Avianz - blocking works too. Nobody here has a right to tell you to do anything to make them feel better. You don't need to bother posting any personal docs to prove anything to them. Enjoy your Model Y when it arrives. Hell of a welcome to TMC.

    Bring back EAP (to USA)

That is a true statement - but conversely for any recent Tesla HW3 is standard. I got the HW3 upgrade on my Model 3 when I bought FSD, mine was a 2018 with HW2.5 - but that isn't what I was replying to. I was replying to the thread about EAP being a dead technology - which obviously it isn't...

    Bring back EAP (to USA)

I don't understand that statement, it doesn't make sense. You seem to think AP, EAP & FSD all use different hardware. If you have a Model Y (for example) with basic AP you can get either EAP or FSD with no additional hardware needed.
  9. Twiglett

    Bring back EAP (to USA)

its just packaging, nothing is dying anywhere. FSD isn't on all cars right now anyway, its the beta that has the future look of Autopilot and by extension EAP. The whole point of the FSD Beta is that they are combining the two into a single thing. So basic AP will end up looking like FSD but...

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

End of quarter really is when the wheels fall off in terms of accuracy of communication, so until folks start taking possession of their cars we are probably going to be in the fog of uncertainty. I only ordered in May, so I'm hoping the recent changes to my EDD are due to Austin LR's coming...

for sure that happens - when news articles try to add a legitimizing veneer they use forum references.

a bit more hopeful that I'll get an Austin Y :D

    FSD Beta 10.12

I've been on FSDb since 10.3 and FSD has never once slowed down for speed limits in an acceptable way for law enforcement. Doing 60mph in a 35 will get you a ticket regardless. Even worse when the limit gradually drops from 70 - 55 - 40 and you're still doing 60 after blowing through the entire...

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

congratulations - maybe we are seeing real LRs now When did you order?

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

I've got a Y-LR on order, live <30 miles from the factory and all I'm being offered is Y-AWD. Just sayin'
  16. Twiglett

Anyone still being offered Austin cars?

Looks like it was temporary. Got two offered this morning and saw other posts about Austin Y-AWD showing up in regular inventory. Maybe it won't be long before they make them available to order. If they're offering them to you, it will show up in your account. For me it looks like the base...

    FSD impending 5th strike

I was sure I read that it was fed though a simple bot to send the feedback to the correct folks, but that mean sticking to keyword type feedback. Sending reams of prose would just get ignored. Of course, I can't find any reference to that now, so I probably just imaged it to justify to myself...

Anyone still being offered Austin cars?

I have a Model Y-LR on order and have been regularly checking the cars Tesla offer me instead of the one I ordered. For the past few weeks there have always been a choice of three cars, all Austin Y-AWD, but never quite what I'm after. Yesterday there were only two and the price had gone up...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Fully agree, wasn't trying to suggest that FSDb learns in the car. I was interested in the comparison because, as you say, others had made similar comments, so I saw that I had the opportunity to see it "in the flesh" as it were. At this stage it didn't surprise me in the slightest, but also...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Over the last few weeks I've been able to conduct an interesting experiment. My kiddo finally decided it was time to learn to drive - aged 20 who has only driven video games before. So I've been able to compare learner driver skill to FSDb. At week one, FSDb was definitely better, hey everyone...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

so far they've all been fake. I have a Y-LR on order and live <30 miles from the factory and so far not one LR has shown up in the cars being offered. Every single one has been a Y-AWD As others have posted - if you switch to an Austin car you will pay current price for it. Very interesting...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

interesting - checking my account this morning, the cost of a base Y-AWD was 59,990 Checking again this afternoon and it's gone up to 61,990. Maybe coinciding with the latest pics from the drone flyers showing a significantly emptied delivery lot. That about settles it for me, not getting an...

    FSD Beta 10.12

that's one of my pet peeves with the Tesla Nav. Its great most of the time, but doesn't give you route choices and the waypoints mean "stop here". I've found the nav consistently uses the most economical route, which is often the most annoying/busiest roads and least comfort friendly. Slow...
  24. Twiglett

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

exactly my point - if you're cell constrained, you fit fewer cells. Then it fits two criteria, its doesn't impact Y-LR sales and you can build more cars. Software lock only fits the first part but fails miserably on the second. It just bad business.
  25. Twiglett

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

sorry - again Regen braking now behaves consistently regardless of charge level, introduced a few software versions ago. I think 2022.16.x and above. You still haven't gotten around the issue of not being able to make enough cells. To pass it off as "cell testing" is ridiculous, especially when...
  26. Twiglett

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

If we could just wish it, but sadly much more likely not. 1) Tesla have had lots and lots of previous experience with new cells and have released new cell/packs multiple times with Model S, X and 3 - yet not once have they released a car with a software lock "in order to test" the cells. What...

[UPDATED] 2 die in Tesla crash - NHTSA reports driver seat occupied

this tired old argument again? Car <insert name here> is too powerful to be used on the road. <pearl-clutching furiously> Where is the test that checks drivers ability compared to the car they drive? Or must we all drive around in 60hp mundane-obiles because 90hp is much too much for "most" drivers.
  28. Twiglett

    Bring back EAP (to USA)

he's right though - when they included AP in the standard build, they increased the cost of the car at the same time. So they are now covering the hardware cost of including the needed hardware for AP - there is the 100% take rate. Nobody here can make definitive statements about what take rate...

    Bring back EAP (to USA)

I'm one of those folks who got EAP for $5k when it was available and upgraded to FSD during the firesale, so got it at a great price. That $5k included basic Autopilot though. No way I'm spending 12k for FSD for our new Model Y. However, I'd jump at getting EAP again on the Y - assuming a $3-4k...

You're kidding right? Someone would need to pry it from her cold dead hands ;)

    I'm screwed - Delivery

I feel your pain You should try it the other way round. I got my Model 3 over four years ago, but my wife started driving it two years ago and now calls it "her car". So we ordered a Model Y for her so I can have my baby back :rolleyes:

    Safelite Repair & FSD Beta

To to provide the "horses mouth" info from the Tesla service manual  There is a pitch verification process which is to adjust the cameras after installation, this uses camera targets etc to adjust things. But only if the correction code says it needs it. The service manual also says that...

    Safelite Repair & FSD Beta

If they're charging money for it then its time to find another glass company - you're being ripped off. Tesla camera calibration is a selectable option in the service menu, for free.

    Something wrong with MY M3?

Thing to remember is that the car isn't learning between drives, its just interpreting differently each time. Sometimes I'll do my regular drive and its not great, other times it nice and smooth, all while seeming from the outside to be exactly the same circumstances. I guess its because FSDb...

    Cancel turn on FSD beta

The settings the @jakimo mentions are still there and work in FSD - for some lane changes ;) It will stop FSDb from changing lanes to overtake for instance. However, for most of the other annoying things it does prevent them. Usually its fails when FSDb thinks it needs to change lanes to follow...

    FSD Beta 10.12

This weekend I drove out on the 120 mile round trip that I've driven countless times with 10.11.2 This was my first decently longish drive I've had on 10.12.2 and not while there are some improvements, there are also the standard "two steps back" Biggest things I noticed now is on fast sweeping...

cars showing in wrong lane behind me

Safe to ignore and file in the "oh thats interesting" category :D The display really isn't a replacement for the mirrors, more to give you an idea what the drive computer can recognize. Congratulations on the X and welcome to the forum ;)

Why does TACC remain active after FSD steering wheel disengagement ?(which is not safe IMHO)

Its not a brake check though - its how every single cruise control works Would love to be proven wrong if there is a car company out there who makes a car where tapping the brake doesn't disengage cruise.
  41. Twiglett

Why does TACC remain active after FSD steering wheel disengagement ?(which is not safe IMHO)

Not to point out the obvious here - but every single car I've ever driven that has cruise control will cancel cruise with either the brake pedal or whatever method it used to engage in the first place. Not one of those cars ever used a steering wheel to disengage. Tesla made sure to add a...

    Supercharger - Georgetown, TX

The fact there are now more Superchargers around Austin that have all been approved by that same leadership would suggest nothing of the sort. Also - this location has got nothing to do with Austin and was approved by City of Georgetown. Much more likely is that there are so many others around...

    New Keeping Your head Up

to be clear - not saying wheel weights are the devils spawn. Regular Autopilot is well sorted by now and doesn't need constant nannying, just like the OP says. But FSDb isn't that. It really does attempt ridiculous things sometimes and really does need constant attention. Looking away to...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

He mentions it in the video as one of the reasons why the range was lower than an LR. I thought I read it in here as well, but it just sounds like folks are hoping that's the case rather than having proof. Sadly, the highest probability is that Tesla have just used fewer cells due to production...
  45. Twiglett

    New Keeping Your head Up

The camera is now enabled precisely because people started going out and buying wheel weights so they didn't have to hold the steering wheel, despite that they were told they need to hold the wheel. The FSDb warning is even more specific, you NEED to hold the wheel and pay attention because...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

wasn't impressed by the recharge speed on that video. With a SoC that low it should have been maintaining a much higher charge rate - my '18 Model 3 charges much faster when its starting at 10%. That video showed it starting at 210 and rapidly falling off. That charge pattern looks much more...

    FSD impending 5th strike

Seen many comments from folks pushing AP fast the (then) 80mph top speed by prodding the go pedal The majority of internal camera false strikes seem to have come from the new Model S/X that now has the camera. My experience has been the same as @qdeathstar, not had a single strike since getting...

    Texas MY Waiting room

if you're in Texas and are offered an Austin car, looks like the price just dropped an additional $1000 Now $3k difference in price.
  49. Twiglett

We were offered the Standard Range Model Y

well this is interesting. They may have adjusted the prices again on the Austin ModelY-AWD It looks like its dropped $1000 Price difference to Fremont YLR is now $3k
