Dash Cam Not Working Check USB

Totally agree. I’m still stuck on the buggy firmware, would be nice if Tesla would prioritize updates especially when they break things.

Dashcam doesn’t alert when it isn’t working

Nice to see that Elon was aware of the issue on May 28. It’d be even better if Tesla could fast track the bug patch cuz this is getting really annoying. I’ve had to reformat the drive 3 times already today.

Error code CP_a140 related to Supercharging

I opened a support ticket with my service center to see if they can diagnose this error code. I haven’t had a chance to return to a supercharger to see if it pops up again.

Dashcam doesn’t alert when it isn’t working

There should be an auto recover function whereby the dashcam automatically reformats the drive if the mount fails. I’ve gotten in the habit of checking if the dashcam is working every time I drive the car, but sometimes I forget and only later realize the dashcam wasn’t working the whole time.

    Supercharger - Kettleman City, CA (LIVE 15 Nov 2017, 24 V2 + 16 V3 stalls, lounge)

Yes, the Nav should definitely pop-up with the entry code. I found it the first time I stopped last week but it took a while of zooming the map to find the supercharger icon (it gets hidden if you are zoomed out too far). The second time, I pulled up to supercharger info card but the code was...

Dashcam doesn’t alert when it isn’t working

This behavior seems to be tied to rebooting the CID/ICE. Dashcam was working and the moment I rebooted the ICE, the dashcam stopped working and required reformatting thru the GUI. It seems there is a bug in this software that causes the ICE to crash every few days so that could explain the...

Dashcam doesn’t alert when it isn’t working

After several months of working flawlessly, I’m finding that I have to reformat the drive about once every 3-4 days. Im using the built in function and it reports “success!” On the reformat but then it stops working suddenly a few days later.

Error code CP_a140 related to Supercharging

I experienced this error code last Friday. I charged fine, but this error popped up at the end of the session. Any reason to be concerned?

    Insurance rate increase

I’ve been a policy holder for well over a year. My Tesla insurance premium abruptly jumped 12% this month. Spoke to customer service and they told me this was due to a discount that was incorrectly applied to my account and that the new rate reflected the correct cost. Now paying $144/mo for...

    API for HVAC recirculate

Is there an API endpoint to enable recirculate (or view recirc status)? I checked @timdorr API docs and didn’t see anything. Just wondering if there is an undocumented API.

Driver profiles to be stored in the cloud

I read that the most recent update allows syncing of driver profiles between cars. I have two 3s and the profiles are not syncing. How do I set this up?

Model 3 clicking sound near the rear wheel area

My 3 has been making the noise for at least 2 years and I haven’t had any issues. If this is just a component that needs to be greased or re-torqued that certainly doesn’t sound like it would cause a failure.

    USB Device Malfunction

I had the same USB drive connected to a Raspberry Pi for years without issue. In the Tesla I have all kinds of problems with that drive. Although, I did recently purchase a USB Sandisk microSD adapter and have not had issues with it.

Model 3 clicking sound near the rear wheel area

Is this a purely cosmetic issue? I notice the clicking on my 3 but I’m not really bothered by it.

Could Tesla crash fatality be due to "sudden braking"?

“NHTSA is investigating the phenomenon in Model Y and Model 3 vehicles from the 2021 and 2022 model years. Owners of 2019 and 2020 vehicles have also complained to NHTSA about phantom braking.” Interesting that NHTSA hasn’t received reports of phantom braking in pre-2019 vehicles. Did Tesla...

Dashcam doesn’t alert when it isn’t working

The dashcam icon was red under the controls screen, indicating that all is well. I needed to save the recent clips so I pressed the dashcam icon and it indicated it was saving. However, then the dashcam icon became grayed out indicating a malfunction. I checked the clips and it turns out my...

    Lane Departure Warning Always On

I started receiving this message when I updated to 11.0. I washed my car thinking one of the camera lenses might be dirty, but the message persists. At any rate, I don’t have lane departure avoidance enabled, but I do have side collision avoidance. Is this feature also impacted by this alert?

    v11 software update SUCKS

At first, I was excited to have the blind spot camera feature. However, after 2 weeks, I find that, as currently implemented, the feature is not usable. First, the image is too small to process with a brief glance. Second, the image appears at the bottom of the screen which forces the driver to...

MASTER THREAD: USB drives that work with Sentry and TeslaCam

Is there any reason to choose a USB 3.0 reader/drive? The Model 3’s ports are USB 2.0 so it’s not like the dashcam can write any faster. Plus, dashcam only requires 4 MB/s which is way below USB 2.0 maximum speeds.

    v11 software update SUCKS

Can’t believe there isn’t a thread on this already. I’m annoyed by the much smaller browser window size on 11.0 compared to 10.x. There is a big bar at that top with “Arcade” “Entertainment” etc. that did not use to be there. Also, the window height is further reduced by a gap at the top where...

    USB Device Malfunction

@CarlThompson yes, many times. Same result. Although, the fact that removing the drive and reinserting it fixes the problem suggests this is not a formatting issue.

    Primary driver question

@bodosom I already have a priority device selected in my Bluetooth settings. It works great for calls and media, but the priority device is not selected for the paired driver profile if multiple phone keys are present. As @Noixd indicates my phone keys are paired to different driver profiles. I...

    USB Device Malfunction

On 11.0, I’ve found that my dashcam is rock solid as long as I don’t use Sentry Mode. For some reason, whenever I leave my car in public and return there is a dashcam error. Removing and reinserting the drive fixes the problem temporarily. The next time Sentry Mode is activated I have to repeat...
  25. A

    Primary driver question

Yes, as I already stated, I am aware of that setting. That is not relevant to my question as it does not apply to driver profiles and phone keys.
  26. A

    Primary driver question

Yes, I’m aware of that. That works for voice calls and text messages, but it doesn’t work for setting the appropriate driver profile with a phone key if there are two phone keys present.
  27. A

    Primary driver question

Is there a way to set a priority device for the phone keys? I have the exact same issue you describe: when two phone keys are present it often adjusts to the incorrect driver profile.
  28. A

    USB Device Malfunction

Indeed. I assumed everything was working great on 11.0 until I checked the control screen and noticed that the dashcam wasn’t recording. Removing and reinserting the drive fixed it. Hope this issue doesn’t continue on 11.0 like it did on 10.x. Dashcam errors should produce a more visible alert...

Not a fan of recent software changes

Well, 11.0 is finally here and there is no ability to adjust the size of the visualization window. I was really looking forward to 11.0 for this very reason.

MASTER THREAD: USB drives that work with Sentry and TeslaCam

My USB adapter only has a single slot for a microSD card and I get the USB device malfunction message all the time.
  31. A

    USB Device Malfunction

2018 M3. I’ve repeatedly received this message with my microSD card connected to a USB adapter. I’ve verified proper operation of the drive by connecting it to my PC. I have another thumb drive that works but I get the “drive too slow for dashcam” alert constantly nagging me.

    Car Computer - SD Card

The SD card is used by the gateway to write logs. It is not necessary for the car to write logs in order for the vehicle to sleep. This issue is probably caused by a bug in the gateway where it refuses to sleep unless it can write to the SD card.

Will V11 be released on June 3, 2021?

Anyone heard of progress re: V11 deployment? Really looking forward to having greater control over the driving visualization which is twice as big as it needs to be, IMHO.

Supercharging Speeds: Who, what, where, why, and when

@wk057 - Do you have any long term simulated supercharging data with the 100 kWh cells or the Model 3 2170 cells to say what happens to them? I assume they will not suffer the same fate as the 60/70/85 kWh cells?

Rear facing side camera chrome cover peeling off

Anyone experienced this issue? The plastic chrome covers seem very cheaply made, so not surprising. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Tesla is an AWFUL software company

Model 3 owner since May 2018. I love the software updates and they have brought much needed functionality (e.g., dashcam, side collision avoidance, etc.) but yeah, I totally agree on this one. I despise how the useless driving visualization takes up so much screen.
  38. A

Someone lit my car cover on fire and my Tesla Model 3 burnt to the ground.

Would that really be useful? I frequently park my Tesla along streets with lots of pedestrian activity, there are usually about 20-30 sentry events when I get back. I can’t imagine that getting still images by email every time someone walked past would be useful.

Radar deleted on all new Model Y and Model 3. Is FSD worth it?

Radar can see through fog/rain/snow. Cameras, not so much. What’s Tesla’s plan for safely navigating a car during inclement weather?

    Service Center downgraded software

This is very interesting. I didn’t even think this was possible. The gateway used to prevent downgrades, although Tesla may have loosened this restriction.

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

@Zeemo - you should definitely be able to power on the MCU on your bench without the IC. I would check your cabling and try again. The other possibility is of course that the eMMC is dead on your MCU.

Not a fan of recent software changes

Well, after 3 months of having my dashcam working, I installed the 12.25.7 update and it immediately broke the dashcam. Reformatted the drive using the in-car functionality, still no go. Not sure what goes in with Tesla’s developers. Things work fine, then they introduce a bug, then they fix...

Not a fan of recent software changes

I don’t recall the exact version. Mine had been broken for months and then about a mo ago a software update was pushed that caused it to start working again.
  44. A

Not a fan of recent software changes

Update. Issue 1 has been resolved by recent software updates. Issue 2 still bothers me. The map is just way too small because the driving visualization hogs like 40% of the screen area. Really looking forward to the update that lets us adjust the size of the UI windows.

New M3LR on 2020.47.101 like UI

My main gripe is that the Nav is too small and the car animation takes too much screen real estate. We were promised a fix that would allow the driver to configure the relative size of these windows, but nothing has come of that 6 months later. I also notice the browser running slower.
  46. A

    USB Device Malfunction

My experience as well. I’ve only seen it once since the 4.15 update. Disconnecting and reconnecting the drive resolved it.

Do V3 superchargers actually provide dedicated 250 kw output?

Thanks. Tesla needs to clarify their blog post on V3 superchargers because the way they describe it, it sounds like each stall has dedicated 250 kw output. “Supercharger stations with V3’s new power electronics are designed to enable any owner to charge at the full power their battery can take...
