Spec changes in 18 inch M3 Aeros?

The colour also changed around the same time the new covers came in. Around early 2021 the colour became slightly lighter with more metallic flakes.

M3 won’t take Zappi excess solar, but MY will?

are you certain there are no outside influences on the M3? For example, EV.Energy? Easiest way to check is to change your Tesla account password to stop outside influences. Though it’s rather surprising the Zappi isn’t throwing up any errors or other status changes? If the Zappi tries to...

    Crack on Model 3 roof

I believe this is usually covered under the glass part of your insurance. I’ve read people having the glass roof replaced for only their windscreen replacement excess. Certainly worth a call.

    [UK] 2022.16.x

No sign of the blended auto-braking at high SoCs, in the end. Pity, I quite like the idea of uniformity in braking. Always catches me out on the rare occasion I charge to 100%.

As Tesla constantly iterates, there are multiple different hardware versions even throughout the year. I’d imagine they release updates in waves as they get signed off for each hardware revision.

Service Centre broke my juddering display but would not replace under warranty

I very much doubt the UK courts would get involved in this. It happened in Spain, so I’d imagine it would require going through the Spanish courts. For someone who doesn’t live in the Spain, that’ll just be massive grief and most likely end up costing more than the cost of the blackmail on...

Service Centre broke my juddering display but would not replace under warranty

Surely it’s down to Tesla to prove the damage was pre-existing? If you have photos from just before with no crack, and then they’re turning around and saying there’s a crack after they’ve done work to it, that sounds like 100% down to them.

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

It’s pot luck. Sometimes it slows down, other times it just runs wide and eventually aborts. Nothing like living on the edge!

    Auto recirculation mode (Pollution control?)

My BMW i3 had auto-recirculation and it worked really well. Stuck in traffic behind a stinky ICE or going through a tunnel it would automatically recirc. Unfortunately, my M3 doesn’t seem to have this feature. Tesla. 🤷‍♂️

    [UK] 2022.16.x

I’m of the same opinion. I think it works much better in places such as Spain (I’m guessing they’re similar to the US) where off-ramps have a very different layout. There, the off-ramp lane starts much sooner so you have plenty of time to come off onto the adjoining lane before this then...

Have you ever kerbed your Aero wheels?

Wife managed to grind half a wheel on the kerb whilst driving along. Off to the wheel place it goes, again. I should ask for a loyalty discount!

    Gatwick supercharger experiences?

I live locally, and have had to pop by the SC a handful of times. It can get busy in the mornings, but I’ve never seen it full.

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

I’ve been driving around in Spain since Saturday. The lights definitely don’t automatically adjust whilst driving on the right side of the road. However, it’s not been an issue, despite the uptick on the left of the illumination. As the LED beam is so focussed, it’s quite flat, including on the...

    Charging Experience France

I’m currently on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. Took the Portsmouth - Bilbao ferry then drove across. Two SC stops. Both locations had 12 stalls and I was the only person using them. Couldn’t have been easier.

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

I’ve known officers to randomly pull over cars of a particular colour as a way of dip sampling drivers.

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

I find the motorway automatic join/exit behaviour absolutely crazy with aggressive swerving and generally unnatural behaviour. I don’t know if our on/off ramps are so differently designed that the American code simply can’t get its head around them, but personally I disable AP when merging and...

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

Have to love those semantics. “Any reason”. Ok, so it’s a reason, but it can be anything, including just fancying a chat. The driver doesn’t have to have committed any infraction to be stopped, in the first place.

Tesla driving telemetry and legal jurisdiction WRT local TeslaMate servers

Interesting question, and certainly one that is likely to come up more and more as cars become more computerised and driving data is uploaded and stored. In relation to TeslaMate data stored on an RPi at home, depending on the offence, police could seize the RPi and sift through the data if...

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

Just to clarify, English and Welsh law doesn’t require the police to have a reason to stop a vehicle. Can be simply to pull someone over to check their documents, no justification required. Though, to make life easier, they’ll usually stop someone who has broken some moving traffic offence as...

Long delay replacing Model 3 Windscreen

Long delay replacing Model 3 Windscreen

The Tesla SC pin should clear itself. I was at an SC just yesterday and once I left the SC their pin was removed from the car. I then had to set my own pin again once I got home. No need to use the “forgotten PIN” function.

Error CP_a009 and BMS_a063 - not while attempting to charge.

Just as I was posting the above, I got a call from the local SC in relation to my newly rescheduled appointment. They want to cancel it pending the parts arriving, and will call me to arrange an appointment then. They‘re not expecting the parts until at least mid June. Do their systems have...

Error CP_a009 and BMS_a063 - not while attempting to charge.

I’ve been having this error pop up quite a lot over the past few days. Probably linked to the heavy rain we’ve been having. Went on a 300 mile round trip and had the error up on the screen for pretty much the entire time. When trying to charge, I can’t plug in as the charge socket locking pin...

    Dashcam error

Same here. Tesla have acknowledged the issue. The drive unexpectedly unmounts and then won’t mount again. Removing and replacing the drive temporarily sorts the issue.

Photos of inappropriate UK Supercharger usage

I appreciate this is the “wrong” side, but they don’t have a choice due to the charge port placement. Tesla are well aware of this and have chosen to accept this will happen. Is there something other than “wrong side” being reported here?

    PCN in electric car bay

I would personally advise against the “ignore everything until court proceedings” tactic. Courts don’t take kindly to this behaviour. Here’s somewhat more “professional” advice: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/private-parking-tickets/

    PCN in electric car bay

Have you looked at the sign covering the particular bay? I would imagine you’re going to have to end up paying (lawfully and morally) as these parking vultures tend to know what they’re doing in relation to signage. I once parked in a charging bay when the post wasn’t working. I left the car...

Long delay replacing Model 3 Windscreen

    Company Registered keeper query

Option 3 is not an issue, at all. As long as the company own the vehicle, the tax breaks can be claimed. The registered keeper of the vehicle should be the person who regularly drives the vehicle, even if this is a company car. If your accountant is squirming with the idea of a company car...

    Company Registered keeper query

Insurance companies used to accept company cars registered to the company being insured by the individual, however they seem to have cracked down on this and many now insist the car is registered to the user. Tesla, as per @forddj ’s experience are truly diabolical at the admin side of this...

    CPU upgrade

Tesla are struggling to build new cars they already have orders for. I very much doubt they’re going to bother investing resources into upgrading old cars. Just look at the external speaker retrofit. Initially, they’d suggested this would be offered, but they seem to have backtracked and there’s...

    Model 3 towing additions/improvements (?)

    Company Registered keeper query

They ended up providing a letter requesting a change of R/K without adding a previous R/K, however DVLA weren’t interested. We ended up taking the hit with the previous keeper. In your case, Tesla have completely messed up and I would suggest you insist Tesla sort it or you’re returning the...

    M3 towing advice

And just under a year later… The M3 tows very nicely with plenty of power to get going. The Opus can be a little bouncy, so I may invest in the shock absorbers to dampen down the bouncing. We actually picked up the Opus end of last month, but this is our first trip out camping...

Survey Do You Need a UMC?

I wonder whether there’s quite big differences between the US and UK? In the US, a standard electrical socket is 110v, which at similar currents to us will provide half the charging power (~1.2kW?). This isn’t particularly impressive and you’d need to leave the car plugged in for quite a long...

Survey Do You Need a UMC?

We use ours when charging at family/friends’ houses. They don’t have EVs so no point them having an EVSE however if we’re staying overnight they’re generally happy for us to plug in. No need to go out of our way to charge up and means we can just be on our way the following day.
