Towing travel trailer with Model Y

I can confirm it’s there. I can also confirm it’s not there within 5 to 30 seconds of leaving the drivers seat. So if you are going to check it have an ass in the seat with the car on. Hope that helps.

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

@Gleaner. Glad you made it. We have just over 7000 kilometres on this camping trip and so far haven’t had any drama. But speed limits are slower here and we never tow over 90 kph which makes it easier to stretch out the range. We also have a Chademo adaptor which has been handy a few times. Glad...

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

Yah no problem. Weight of the trailer fully loaded for camping is about 3400 ish pounds. Steering and handling are great. We travel at max 90 kph. We have about 35 years of towing experience. Just hang out in the right lane. Our experience over the years taught us that short wheelbase combos...

Can’t set FSD Without it rocketing up to the speed limit.

Will try that. Thank you. I will try that tomorrow. Thank you.

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

We’ll, with 338 pounds of hitch weight and about 105 pounds in the back hatch the model Y squats about 3/4 of an inch. In my opinion with that kind of weight one doesn’t need a WDH for a model Y if one stays within the hitch weight. And this is what it looks like.

Can’t set FSD Without it rocketing up to the speed limit.

Here is the problem. We have full FSD beta. If I want to engage FSD but at a slower speed than the speed limit, I can’t. As soon as I engage FSD it rockets up to whatever the speed limit is and I have to furiously use the little wheel to slow it down. Any suggestions? I have tried every...

Campsite experiences: is 14-50 or TT-30 more common?

The range gets cut in half. We actually do our planning using 200 kilometres max range. But the reality is the superchargers are closer than that so it’s not an issue.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Definitely. At 9 percent our Y would be pinned at 250 until 30 percent ish.

Campsite experiences: is 14-50 or TT-30 more common?

We have been travelling across Canada for almost 3 weeks and stayed in campgrounds almost every night. Not one had 50 amp service. But that is quite often the case in Canada. The TT 30 has been invaluable for us.

We’ll at least some people are getting it. We took a tour of the Revelstoke Dam a few days ago. Maybe an hour and 15 minutes of great information. Anyway, one of the group made a comment about how many more Revelstoke dams BC would need if all the vehicles in the province go to electric. She...

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

Exactly. I would think it’s supply problems keeping it off the US market place. But the other possibility is that once the CCS adapter is available a lot of people will stop using the Supercharger network just because of the expense. Especially in Canada. At least where we are every other...

I don’t know what to expect. Trump retweeted a tweet a number of times about “a good democrat is a dead democrat”. Will that now be acceptable? The next election Is going to be an interesting in regards to twitter. Jmho.

Tesla Wall Connector Charging Non-Tesla Vehicles? (Australia)

Yep. No problem. There is nothing special about a Tesla wall charger except for the connector. It is a standard J1772 L2 charge cable. Obviously you’ll have to use an adapter because of the different connecter. They are readily available from a variety of sources on the web. Cheers.

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

There is always the SETEC adaptor. I suspect the Tesla CCS adaptor in North America is a long way off.

Campsite experiences: is 14-50 or TT-30 more common?

Hey Derby. I’m Canadian so response will be in kilometres and Wh per kilometre. Wh/km We are retired so a long travel day for us is four hours and most are 1 or 2 hours. Charging is a mix of campgrounds, Superchargers and DC fast chargers as we have the Chademo adapter. I’m also 60 so I have a...

That pretty much describes our strategy. When I hit 65 I’ll take a peak at the share price. See if it’s time to buy a cybertruck. 😊

That will be sweet. But is there some risk there? If they can’t make it work in a timely manner and people press the issue thru judicial processes etc is there a chance they would have to return the money. I know some progress is being made but it still seems a long way off. And people are...

What exactly does “Trailer mode” do.

Hi folks. Other than disabling autopilot what else does “trailer mode” do. I have seen one person indicate that there was some kind of anti sway thru the brakes affect but find no reference to that. Or maybe that was the model X. Any techs out there no more about this. Thanks.

    NEMA TT-30

Using the TT30 adaptor for the mobile charging unit from Tesla will signal the unit to draw 24 amps and no more. We do this all the time.

You can buy a leftover 2021 2wd in BC for 52000 Canadian currency. It’s been sitting there a long time though. There are a actually quite a few. I’m beginning to think it’s not just price. The day we picked up our new Y a couple weeks ago we noticed two in their trade in compound. Interesting.
  35. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Same in BC Canada. If you want a new EV most wait times are 3 to 9 months for most manufacturers. Except the Mach E. Lots of stock. Take your time and look around, they’ll still be there next week. Some of the left over 2021’s are coming down.

It’s the equivalent of about 4.38 USD per US gallon in central B.C. right now. More on the coast. Cheaper in some provinces. Tier one electricity here is just under 10 cents per kWh before tax and fees or just over 12 cents with. Tier 2 is about 4 cents higher but we rarely hit that. Canadian...

Just picked up our brand new model Y built 2/22. We bought our last Tesla (model 3 AWD) about 2 years ago. We never really had any issues with it and the fit and finish was fine. This Y though is absolutely flawless. Drove 470 kilometres home today. Picked it up in Surrey BC. Our delivery guy...
