    How to improve Plaid suspension?

Great information I'll experiment with this thanks.

    PPF or no PPF

I'm just saying it's not crazy to try to install PPF yourself. I've even painted portions of my cars myself (with zero experience) and it turned out nice. Your PPF guy sounds good though. My PPF installer was also very good, but the film itself seems lacking.

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

Oh I thought you meant physically somehow. My suspension settings don't persist but maybe you have to be in track mode for that? For example, if I want to keep the suspension high, it won't do that beyond 35mph.
  4. O

    PPF or no PPF

Likening installing PPF to implanting a pacemaker is non-sensical. One requires years of competitive training and licensure, the other, minimal training and no certifications. How about ceramic coating? The going rate to do that is $800-$1000, but it's easy to do oneself in a few hours.

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

I'm not sure that's what he's referencing. We know the ride height can be temporarily changed up to certain speeds.

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

Oh interesting, didn't realize there was adjustability. What setting can be modified on the original shocks? Thanks!

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

I've owned every Tesla except the Model 3. None have had "good" suspensions compared to any luxury brand. At best the Tesla suspension has been "ok" for me. You get lots of head bob and diagonal rocking over bumps that I find super annoying. I've also driven the Ford MachE GT with magnetic...

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

Hmm I haven't spent much time in TM felt good on a windy road but haven't used that around town/fwy... why?

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

I have or currently owned S, X, Y but not 3. Even my current Plaid lacks some luxury feel compared to the i4. Biggest lacking is quality control, flawless paint and fit, sound seals, HUD, and a suspension that feels like a high-end car rather than a rental. I hope Tesla ups its game in these...

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

So for the MY you can do Ohlins. No options for MS Plaid?
  11. O

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

With the 19" wheels you're good for 300 miles. I'm thinking about 350 Wh/mi compared to 300 Wh/mi for MS.
  12. O

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

My main interior gripe is rear seats are too small, trunk is a bit small, and lack of physical HVAC controls. That should have been retained.

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

My #2 complaint (after brakes) is the suspension is not great. Teslas seem very unsettled after driving over bumps or uneven roads. They are quite "bouncy", even compared to other EVs. I don't see much available for the Plaid MS. I drove a BMW i4 M50, and suspension was far superior.
  14. O

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

I do like the M50. It's quite comfortable to drive and feels faster than 3.7 sec 0-60mph. I'm a big fan of the HUD, Tesla needs to add that and greatly improve the suspension to stay competitive. I'm a Tesla fan, but worried given cars I'm test driving from "traditional" manufacturer with...

  16. O

    PPF or no PPF

You still get scratches hologram and swirl even with PPF. In my experience it's just as bad as paint. Not sure if my install is a factor or what, but it was one by a very reputable shop.

    2 Model Y or Ioniq 5?

i saw an ioniq the other day and the paint was niiice. interior seemed nice. tempted to dump the MY and get Ioniq. What's better ionic of EV6?

My new teething puppy damaged the perforated rear seat! Suggestions on repair?

very easy fix by any upholstery shop if Tesla doesn't sell the seat upholstery cheap. Front seat back is about $400 no idea bout rear

Anyone in the UK 'upgraded' their Model Y suspension?

The Y suspension is terrible, plain and simple. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't driving many luxury cars.

    Model S Yoke Horn Confirmed

The aftermarket flat top steering wheel seems much more practical and still allows the forward visibility. For me the turn signals take up too much mental bandwidth if I'm quickly changing lanes. Not only do I have to worry if they activated, but I have to worry about canceling them. With a...

    Model S Yoke Horn Confirmed

turn signal and lack of horn are my biggest gripes. honestly just keeping a full steering wheel would have been better, I don't see much advantage to the yoke after driving the car for several months

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

I guess pads and clips are an easy first step then. For me, on the street or highway, if I need to stop it's like push the pedal and hmm..... that needed a lot more pedal travel and effort than I was planning. Bedding the brakes made no difference. I've never had a car where I felt the brakes...
  27. O

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

I do not intend to track the car, I wonder if adjusting the clips is enough for my purposes. Stopping the car seems to require more force and pedal travel than I prefer.
  28. O

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

What did you do with the anti-rattle clips? I wonder how much "feel" is improved just by addressing the anti-rattle clips vs. the actual rotors?
  29. O

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

How about brake feel and linearity, pedal travel, etc? The stock are just inadequate for my driving, I have to get on the brakes a lot harder and sooner than any other Tesla I've had.

    PPF or no PPF

    Use a thick removable PPF

    2 Model Y or Ioniq 5?

I like the BMW vs. Mercedes angle for the mid size EV family sedan. Those will both sell. Tesla fit and finish makes it a bit fragile compared to the over-engineered, redundant, thick painted german sedans. Mercedes interior is usually superior to BMW, and I'd put my guess EQE will be the...

Early '22 Exterior Refresh Tracking (Lights, Charging Door, Appliqué delete)

It actually looks pretty good. I saw one in person today, looks better than the photos for the head and tail lights
  34. O

Early '22 Exterior Refresh Tracking (Lights, Charging Door, Appliqué delete)

I wanted to like the new tails but in photos I'm like meh... the amber is nice, but why can't they be animated like every other high end car? The new headlights look worse during the day but better at night with the old school projector. But it sounds like it will be very difficult to upgrade...

    What is Model S BLM?

I saw this too, and was confused.

Model S 2022 New Taillight Will NOT Retrofit - Just Confirmed Today :(

What other cars are you comparing that to? Any modern german sedans?
  37. O

Model S 2022 New Taillight Will NOT Retrofit - Just Confirmed Today :(

Tail lights are OK but they aren't even animated, so not as tempting to retrofit even if that was possible. If the headlights are vastly superior, I'd be more interested in that.
  38. O

    PPF or no PPF

    No coatings at all.

    PPF over ultrasonic sensors

I didn't get errors until I parked out in direct sunlight. Then the film shrinks and lifts off the recessed sensors. You can use your finger to push it back down, but it's hard to figure out which sensor (if not more than one) and inevitably will happen when you're trying to show off summon mode...
  42. O

    PPF or no PPF

That's how they advertise it. I have Xpel Ultimate, which is supposed to be a very good product. Mine doesn't seem to heal at all. Maybe the other brands are better, I have no idea.
  43. O

    PPF over ultrasonic sensors

They all say that so they don't have to put in the extra time. If you don't do it, you'll likely be coming back. If you live close to the shop, then feel free to give it a try. If it's a hassle to get over there, just let them cut it out from the beginning.
  44. O

    PPF over ultrasonic sensors

If you leave the sensors fully covered with the PPF stretched across the bumper and sensors, as the PPF heats in the sun it will shrink and lift off the sensor leading to errors with summon etc. highly recommend cutting around each sensor and leaving the thin PPF film on just the circular...

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

Any reviews of the MPP 400mm "Easy Big Fella" front brake kit?
  46. O

    Show of hands… Adaptive Suspension

I think the suspension on the Plaid is pretty good. The auto mode is neat how it can improve ride comfort by raising up itself. Not as good as active suspensions like the Mach E.
  47. O

Horn being moved back to the center.

I am very happy if my car gets this firmware upgrade. It was a poor design decision to not have the horn work like most other cars, I'm assuming it was a supply issue more than a design decision.
  48. O

    PPF or no PPF

This is totally false. The PPF is actually SOFTER than paint clearcoat, and will get scratches much easier than paint. That is my experience. Even light pressure from microfiber will scratch up Xpel Ultimate. I found PPF to be a costly waste of money. I don't have ceramic on my PPF, so not sure...
  49. O

    Rejected Delivery

That is absolutely outrageous. Total effing morons to even call you to see that car. What a waste of your time.
  50. O

    Underwhelmed with Xpel

Tried heat gun as well, makes no difference. Not sure how the YouTube videos show heavy wire brush scratch damage that disappears before your eyes with hot water, but light scratches by rubbing a microfiber cloth persist.
