Is now a good time to buy a model Y performance?

There is something off with the Y when it comes to tight spots. I dunno how to describe it. The parking garage I park in the city requires multiple turns To get in with the Y while I never had that problem with my C43. Even pullling into my garage which requires a 90 degree turn from the...

Is now a good time to buy a model Y performance?

BTW I keep sounding overly negative here. I think the MYP is a great car in many respects. A few changes would make it perfect for my needs. The acceleration is fantastic although I would say it’s slightly less impressive above 70mph (I mean its still very capable of passing but doesn’t blow...

Is now a good time to buy a model Y performance?

X5 prioritized rear cargo space over 2nd row cargo. My kids are 10 and 6 so this isn’t a problem whatsoever. If my kids were 6” feet tall maybe I would think otherwise. But its also about the same 2nd row space as a Cayenne which is in the same category. The GLE or a Range Rover do have...

Is now a good time to buy a model Y performance?

X5 M50I does not come with air suspension. It is steel springs. But it does have some ability to adjust. And if I were to compare the X5 m50 to the MX, fully maxed out with a nicer interior it is about $30K cheaper and nicer on the inside. An x5 base (40i) can also be in the same price range...

Is now a good time to buy a model Y performance?

My last two cars were an AMG (lite) and X5 M50I with the dynamic sport chassis option. Prefer stiff suspensions. I don’t want body roll. It’s not at fast speeds that the MYP lets me down. It’s how crappy the suspension is when you hit a pothole at literally <10 mph in traffic and just feel...

Is now a good time to buy a model Y performance?

Yeah, i too am a bit surprised but its perhaps because most of the roads near me are in fairly good condition so maybe that’s why she doesn’t notice it. However, I’ve hit a few potholes near NYC that even at slow speeds you just feel up your spine. My vehicles have historically had a stiffer...

Is now a good time to buy a model Y performance?

I took delivery of the MYP in Feb. I also have an IX on order at MSRP that is supposed to come in August. I also have a Rivian R1S estimated for 2h23. In addition to the MYP I also have an x5 m50i and gave really only owned luxury cars from Mercedes’, BMW and Lexus. MYP the good. -one...

Tow hitch bike rack for model y

Man I’m super annoyed I didn’nt know about this when I spec’ed my Model Y (have had it for two months now but haven’t used my bike rack). I have a 1up Equip D bike rack which is amazing along w/ 2 more additional racks to get to a 4 bike capacity. When fully equipped I’d be at 100ish lbs...

    Phantom Braking - Fixed.

In the last few updates my car now goes crazy with alerts every time I pull out of my driveway front first. On a minor hill and I assume it thinks I’m crashing. The only way to get it not to beep is if I drive maybe 3 mph.

Does Tesla Service Center offer curb rash fixes?

Went to Maywood location. Took 24hrs and was $175. I haven’t inspected super closely but happy with the results. Here are photos (rear wheel got curbed).

    BMW to Tesla 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t know, you should probably see the IX50 in person. At least in the US, there is a demo that has gone to most large dealerships. It doesn’t look bad in person. I think you should need to get used to it. I know people hated the grill on the M3/M4 and just wanted it to look like the 3...

Airport parking ! Now I’m worried.

This was a huge turnoff for me when I first test drove it as well but ultimately took delivery of a MYP. 2 months into ownership and it doesn’t bother me anymore. I think I read somewhere that you have to adjust your seats differently than you would with a BMW. On a BMW I go to the lowest...

    BMW to Tesla 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have an X5 M50I and took delivery of a MYP in Feb that replaced an older X5. Only options for me were factory install of tow, PPF on front hood through A pillars and on the rear passenger doors because of rock chips on highways and then i matched the front into tints to the rear. Other than...

    2022 MYP vs MYLR?

I bought the MYP to get it faster than the LR but test drove the LR 2x before accepting delivery. I was bracing for the worst when it comes to suspension of the 21” and honestly, its not that much worse than the LR. To me they are both pretty unrefined and awful on bad roads. I’ve gotten used...

    MYP Range question

Only put about 1000 miles and it was during the month of February. I’ve never gotten the charge below 40% so not sure what to expect. I charge to 80% which puts the range at 241 miles. Based on my driving where I don’t try to conform to what is more efficient (I drive the speeds I want to...

    Dilution of Performance Model?

Yeah, I never considered any Tesla “special” particularly the Y. They are pretty ubiquitous around where I live. They are basically the BMW 3 series of 15 years ago to me. As my company has us going back to the office and with fewer mass transit options, I purchased a MYP and did it for the...

Does Tesla Service Center offer curb rash fixes?

I’m located in the Northern NJ area close to NYC. For reference here is the wheel. I’ve accidentally curbed wheels on my prior cars (1x each) but both times it was during parallel parking at slow speeds. This was an odd one as I was going 15 mph around a bend to the right in a mall parking...

Does Tesla Service Center offer curb rash fixes?

Sadly curbed my rear passenger wheel while moving through a parking lot (odd how I’ve never done that with much larger vehicles). Looks pretty gnarly and goes around half of the rim on my 21” uberturbine wheels. Ironically, I already have an appointment for the Tesla on 4/1 to deal with the...

Ordered 12/5 MYP, MSM, Black, Tow, No FSD. Delivered to NJ. VIN is NF361xxx -Panel gaps acceptable to me...although one headlight is not flush to hood like the others. Accepted delivery but set up appointment to have this adjusted. -Has all-season tires. Does not have PPF on rear panels...

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

So I just want to understand the process a bit. I want to inspect the vehicle before accepting delivery. So it sounds like I should give insurance before hand. They just asked about the trade-in of a vehicle which I gave the VIN and the trade-in value seems acceptable for me but I haven't...

I don't get how you are 2/13-3/13 with a 9/29 order date and i ordered 12/5 and now got pushed up to 2/15-2/26 (am on east coast). That boggles the mind.

2 Month Tesla Owner - Fed up and Done

In 2016 I bought a Mercedes C class. I had panel gaps. The taillights stuck out (one more than the other). And within one week the seats started leaking a chemical when the temperature fell below 20 degrees (because I cheaped out and bought MB's version of "Vegan Leather). Total mileage =...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

Who knows if it holds but my impression is EV residuals are pretty awful...except for some reason Tesla. So it makes me apprehensive to purchase other EV's. Meanwhile, iCE vehicle used values are insane but at some point will have to collapse. Before these supply chain issues, I had just...

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Finally someone else other than my SA (who has not responded for over a week, not blaming him, perhaps there was a mixup) just made the change and I "finalized" the order. If this is what held up the whole process, i'm gonna be miffed.

Does using their financing move you up the line because you're more profitable? I was approved for a loan at TSLA's lowest rate at the time (I believe) but because I concentrate a fair bit of my personal finances with a bank, my rate is about 70bp lower through them. So I haven't completed...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

-Interesting that you find it quieter. I thought I read an article that the x5 and x7 are one of the quietest vehicles ever made unless you step up to the insulation found in Bentleys/Rolls. Its so quiet, thats why they've had to pipe i the artificial engine sound. -I've been averaging...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

Thanks all for the additional info. I didn't try the creep mode. I actually just realized my x5 has an auto hold recently where at a stop, I can take my foot off the break and it won't move forward until I put my foot on the gas. At first I was like, "Cool this is almost like 1 pedal...

    New Jersey Waiting Room

Yeah, maybe tow hitch supply chain constraints? Are there sensors for the tow hitch maybe? I have no idea. Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Just checked mine: OD: 12/6 MYP MSM/Black/Tow/No FSD EDD was 2/4-3/4 and now 2/25-3/25 Sort of a kick in the pants. I actually just spoke w/ a BMW dealership about an IX and they estimate fall if I order one now but then when I asked about ordering an X3M, they said they could get one in 4-6...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

All good points. Value is in the eye of the beholder. $64k is not cheap by any means but given my options if going the electric route, it does seem relatively expendable. Moreover, the Prius 0-60 of ~9+ seconds scares me. Sub 5 sec 0-60 cars give me confidence (perhaps false confidence) when...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

The suspension was the first thing I noticed when I test drove the MY LR back in November in the Westchester area (as NJ locations are closed on Sundays). I noticed that it was very firm and we could feel the bumps in the road and was definitely firmer than any other car i've bought even when...

Thanks for the information about flat tire process with Tesla. Very helpful to know and given my proximity to NYC, I suspect that this service may be fairly decent then.

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

I think that was my initial inclination about giving up some luxury. We keep the m50I for the luxury but unload a 2013 x5 that is more basic and has been having more maintenance costs as of lately. It would be nice to have one car where we care less if the kids are muddy and are more loose...

Tesla Wall Connector Installation Question for future proofing

The quote shows: -Install 50 amp feeder wire from main electrical panel to new outlet for Tesla charger. We have freed up a significant amount of the main electrical panel due to a kitchen remodel that went entirely to a new panel. It seems if i really care about minimizing my charge time, I...

Tesla Wall Connector Installation Question for future proofing

Thanks for all the input. I would only drive about 50-60 miles per day so perhaps I don't need the Tesla Connector. Is there a j1772 type wall connector that people are using today and justing the adaptor on it with the Tesla? Is that the most future proofed way of doing things?

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

Before the pandemic, I assume I could have gotten 10% off the X4 m40i and with the residual games BMW plays, it probably was worth the money. I have a hard time swallowing a market adjustment on on top of MSRP for the x4 m40i. A full on x3m or x4m would be lovely but I have heard the...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

I am also concerned about the curb rash that this car will take over time and while run flats certainly have issues on ride quality, there is something to be said about driving to my local dealership after getting a flat. Honestly, I haven't even looked too much into what my options will be...
  44. N

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

When I've used auto cruise control on my x5 (shore traffic) it generally leaves at least a car gap between me and the car in front of me. Obviously, this is ideal for safety and to smooth out the ride but will result in people hating you at the Lincon Tunnel as everyone and their mother cuts in...

Tesla Wall Connector Installation Question for future proofing

Got it. The price of my install is quite expensive given the placement of my circuit breaker and the garage being on opposite sides of the house (and I have a long house) so my quote for this is now at $2500 before the $500 tesla connector. I just want to make sure that this $3K investment in...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

Hi all, I'm a newb here and please forgive my lack of knowledge. Due the pandemic, my public transportation options into NYC have been significantly reduced and it honestly remains unclear if there will be mass transit options for me in the future. For now, I've decided to attempt to live...

Tesla Wall Connector Installation Question for future proofing

Hi all, I'm a total newb here but have a MYP on order for Feb. I'm intending to install a Tesla Wall Connector mostly because of looks and I like the simplicity of it. However, I'm not entirely sure I'm going to be a long-term Tesla owner. The MYP performance seems like a great daily driver...
