    Charging Every Day

Although I’ve read articles about Li-ion battery degradation in general, I haven’t really seen anything that definitively states that keeping a lower state of charge (<90%) makes a meaningful difference in increasing long term Tesla battery capacity. If your joy is doing everything you can to...

    Charging Every Day

According to 2022.16 Model Y Owner's Manual: "The most important way to preserve the high voltage Battery is to LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE PLUGGED IN when you are not using it." https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modely/en_us/GUID-7FE78D73-0A17-47C4-B21B-54F641FFAEF4.html My car is plugged in all the...

    Why my Wh/mi so bad?

It would be interesting to see the OP’s Trips page for lifetime Wh/mi. The left side of the Consumption Chart looks normal and averaging around 250-260 Wh/mi. The right side could be due to hills, rain, wind, or other factors. As a reference point, when I first got my MYLR (Gemini wheels and...

    Model Y Floor Mats

Here is my quick review of the Tesmanian mats which I've had since delivery and got a chance to use them in snowy/slushy weather. Pieces: Front/Rear floor mats, sub-trunk/frunk liners, cargo liner with 2nd row seat back protectors. I also have the retractable cargo cover which is in the Sale...

I just received an email from Tesla announcing the new service center. It also mentions that they will be expanding mobile service.

    2022.12.3.1

The same thing happened to me after updating to 2022.12.3.2 although I thought it was just a glitch on my phone. Current version of iOS 15.4.1 on an iPhone 7+. I would get a black screen when opening the app. Force-quitting the app and rebooting the phone didn’t work. Deleting and reinstalling...

    2022.12.3.1

2022.12.3.1 we hardly knew ye. I didn't get to drive much with it and now I'm on 2022.12.3.2, but here's what I've noticed/perceived with 2022.12.3.x Voice commands to open trips and tire pressure screens. Credit to @Bluejug for posting this one. Sport steering seems a bit stiffer at lower...

Best clay bar kit for beginners?

+1. Here is the clay mitt I used to wash my older cars. It was fast and easy and made a huge difference. I finished up with two coats of Griot’s Garage 3-in-1 Ceramic wax. I used the 3-in-1 on my MYLR (along with the Griot’s Glass Sealant on the windshield, windows, and roof) as soon as I...

Have you tried rebooting? I realize that different hardware configurations can react differently, but I reboot immediately after every update. FWIW, theater sound works fine in my car.

    Tesla UI vs Others

Nice conversation starter. I find it easy to connect with the v11 UI (I'm a new owner), so my take is different, but I get where you're coming from. No doubt there's room for improvement, but I've only had the MYLR for two months, so I'm still at a phase where I'm focusing on all it does well...

    Washing -what do you use?

I'm not big into detailing, although I like driving a clean car, but I think the following gets the average person 80% of the way to a shiny, easy-to-wash car that's reasonably protected from the elements and makes bugs/tar/bird droppings easy to remove. If you want to go 100%, you may want to...

    Hulu works!!

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm also on 2022.12.1. Hulu now works on my 2022 MYLR.

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

Still new here and learning the dynamic, but sometimes it's helpful to summarize an opposing opinion to better understand the other person's perspective and why they may be so passionate and repetitive about their perspective. v10 - One Tap v11 - Two Taps

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

I’ve noticed that reading comprehension isn’t a strength of yours. What part of ”As a new MYLR owner who hasn't experienced v10” was difficult to comprehend? You keep doing you, Boo. You’re funny!

The piss-and-moan crowd around here never fails to disappoint. 😄

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

As a new MYLR owner who hasn't experienced v10, I've found the main screen and controls menu in v11 easy to learn and follow, while most everything I want to see or do is available within two taps. In any case, the initial impression is that it seems a lot friendlier and organized vs. what I...

    2022.8.3

I may be telling you something you already know, so apologies if I am, but it looks like the update hasn't been made available to your car yet. Everyone doesn't get updates at the same time. One thing you can do to get updates more quickly is to switch your Software Update Preference to...

    2022.12.x

In the video, the label for that section reads, "Recent Apps" (plural) and it looks like there are two slots for icons, so hopefully the two most recent apps will be shown. 5 + 2 + seat heaters would be nice. Well, I just received a notice in the Tesla app that an update to 2022.12.1 is ready...

    2022.12.x

According to this video (jump to the 4:20 mark) when someone is in the passenger seat, they get the icon for their seat on their side of the screen. The passenger seat heater control also appears in split mode whether or not someone is in the passenger seat.

    2022.12.x

FWIW, on 2022.8.3 if you push the button on the left stalk halfway (just enough for the wipers to do a single pass but not spray any washer fluid) a wiper control card appears on the screen.

Window issue-not auto closing after being auto opened for cold weather

Check out this thread: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/windows-open-when-my-parked.262967/ I‘m on 2022.8.2 and a reboot seemed to fix the issue of unexpected open windows.

    Windows Open When MY Parked

I had that happen to me with the rear passenger window after installing 2022.8.2. The issue occurred several times after I got in the car to drive it. I rebooted the system (I had previously rebooted after the initial install of 2022.8.2) and the issue hasn’t returned since.

Advice Needed - MY Pearl White Touch Up Paint

Thanks for bringing up Automotive Touchup. I've also found their paints to match very well on several cars I've owned, and I'm glad to only spend $22.95 on a 2-bottle set of paint (I already have the clear coat too) vs. buying an entire kit.

    Best Wifi extender

Before you buy another piece of hardware, first make sure your router MY is connecting to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network, not a 5GHz. 2.4GHz will give you better range and a better chance of penetrating solid objects. Other options could be moving your wireless router closer to a window and/or...

How long after getting VIN assigned did you pick up your Y?

Not sure what the timeframe was for others. When I received my VIN on 2/4, my EDD narrowed from 2/17-2/27 to 2/17-2/21.

    Model Y Floor Mats

Interesting. Could be a great find. There's also a $40 off coupon via the Microsoft Edge browser so it seems like it would be easy to try with Prime delivery and free returns. I would then just need the second row seat back protectors. Maybe something like this for the seat backs. Again, if...

    Model Y Floor Mats

The EDD for my 2022 MYLR just got moved up to Feb 12-26 (previously it was May 29 - June 26) so if the new date is accurate, I will need to get some winter mats ASAP. My original plan was to get the Tesmanian mats but it looks like there is only one version regardless of model year. Here is...

    Ohio Waiting Room

So, did you get it? How did the home delivery go? On a separate note, I woke up this morning to a Feb 12 - Feb 26 EDD. The original May/June date would have been better, both timewise and with the chance of the structural battery pack and 4860s, but I’ll be happy to take it now. I don’t see...

Model Y LR Extended Range Fix

I need to do some investigating on this site and the internet in general, but I'm hoping to find a spreadsheet or study somewhere that has a repository of real world Wh/mi use from many MY drivers, which would be better for setting expectations for range. My generalized, uneducated guess from...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

According to Hyundai's website, it doesn't look like it's available yet in the US (and when it is, it will be in limited quantities), but I'd be interested in driving one. I have a feeling that once we have our MYLR, we may be wanting a second EV and the value of an IONIQ5 with a $7,500 tax...

Model Y LR Extended Range Fix

Thanks, that’s helpful info! So, with 75KWh usable, a 2020 driver needs to average 237Wh/mi to get the advertised 316 mile range (assuming is it still 316 for the 2020 models), and should expect 279 miles of range using an average of 269 Wh/mi, not accounting for battery degradation. It...

Model Y LR Extended Range Fix

As I understand it, the MY has an 82KWh battery, but it‘s not all available and/or used in the range calculation. If only 78KWh is available, then 269Wh/mile would result in 290 miles of range (78,000/269=290). If you wanted to get 330 miles out of 78KWh, you would need to average 236Wh/mi...

Finally received an EDD: May 29 - June 26. That would work out great for me. Would be nice if that means I’m in line for an Austin build with the 4680s after a few months of Tesla working out any startup production issues.

I believe the voodoo of which you speak is called a CVT transmission and a highly efficient 4-cylinder engine.

    New model y range issues

I keep a 2 second distance between myself and the car in front of me, so I doubt there is any drafting effect. I-71 between Columbus and Cincinnati can be a mini-Autobahn at times. As for my car, it’s a 4-cylinder CVT that I’ve always run in Eco-Mode. The car rolls really well, I keep the...
