Does trip energy use prediction account for outside temp?

I drove 79, nine over the limit for the majority of the trip, and 6-7mph over lower limits. As noted previously, I specified 1.14 speed to the programs.

Does trip energy use prediction account for outside temp?

OK, we'll see! Meanwhile, did you set a different buffer for the destination? Is that why arrival SoC is 15% rather than 10%?

Does trip energy use prediction account for outside temp?

For example, for tomorrow's trip from Las Vegas to Reno: No wind, 40F, 1.14 speed, 100% start, buffer 10%: Supercharger (city airport code) starting SoC, ending SoC, time to charge-- evtripplanner BTY 37% to 60% 16 min. TPH 10% to 53% 25 min. HTH 10% to 66% 35 min. A Better Route Planner...

Does trip energy use prediction account for outside temp?

Ya, I do use EV Trip Planner, with occasional excursions to EVtripping.com and ABRP. They seem to have quite a lot of variation in their predictions. Just a while ago I used EVTP, putting in different temps for each of the three legs per the NWS forecast.

Does trip energy use prediction account for outside temp?

OK, that answers my intended question, which was whether the algorithm explicitly uses outside temperature. The three-Supercharger trip I'm making in a couple of days is one I've made several times, but always in the summer. So I will charge to a greater end-of-leg margin than I did previously...

Does trip energy use prediction account for outside temp?

Does the trip estimated mileage or percent charge remaining at destination account for outside temperature? For example, if I am at point A and navigating to point B would my mileage or charge estimated to be remaining at B be the same on a hot summer day as on a cold winter night?

Anyone seen this flavor of door handle failure?

Got a new Wi-Fi router, was in car in garage to confirm that it had a good Wi-Fi connection. Got out, closed door, locked it with click on key fob -- it's my habit -- and I heard about seven loud relay-like clicks. I'd never heard the likes from the car. I double-clicked the fob to unlock, and...

Connected but "Connect to Wi-Fi to download"?

Annnnnd... just after the previous post I got a text saying it should be downloaded. Just then my phone notified Software update available. And it's now installed.

Connected but "Connect to Wi-Fi to download"?

Got a text message response indicating verification of my Wi-Fi connection and that "a new firmware" was being sent. Now it seems to be stuck on "Downloading 2020.24.6.11 (100%)".

12V battery. "Will I ever buy another Tesla? Guess."

Here's what I know: My original 12V was replaced after three years. My second 12V was replaced after one year minus one day. The Ohmmu 12V for Model S is warranted for four years. What I think: At $419, Ohmmu is not a slam dunk, but—especially when facing an out-of-warranty replacement of a...

Good idea! I now have a mobile service appt. scheduled 19 days hence. Will update this thread as events, if any, unfold.

    Yes, I did.

Connected but "Connect to Wi-Fi to download"?

For several days my car has had the amber download mini-icon at the top of the main screen, which when touched goes to a status page indicating that 2020.24.6.11 is available and to connect to Wi-Fi. But it is and has been connected whenever it's in my garage, which is the majority of the time...

12V battery. "Will I ever buy another Tesla? Guess."

The resolution: I remembered that I have the "private" phone extension number of a desk in service at the SCtr in the city I'm in. A couple of calls, one before 9 A.M., were not answered. But on the third try I got someone, and the result is that mobile service is swapping the battery at my home...

12V battery. "Will I ever buy another Tesla? Guess."

Thanks for the replies. After a 25-min. hold, I did talk to someone at the service center in the destination city. He said that if the 12V dies while driving, the center console would go out but the instrument cluster would remain on. Do I recall correctly that the car will not start thereafter?

Use garage door opener power for slow (15-20A) charging?

I found my 5-15 adapter. I also have a 12/3 25 ft. extension cord that I've been carrying in my trunk as a just-in-case. Would the extra 10-15 ft. of length lose noticeable efficiency?

There is not another outlet on the wall; hence this topic.

Use garage door opener power for slow (15-20A) charging?

I'm renting sight-unseen except for photos including of the open garage but not of the garage ceiling outlet. I doubt that I'll be able to check remotely, but if I can, I will.

Use garage door opener power for slow (15-20A) charging?

I was thinking of software updates. But there's a Tesla service center near by, in case something have-to-have comes to my attention.
  24. B

Use garage door opener power for slow (15-20A) charging?

I'd use an extension cord along the ceiling. Ya, I know 3-4 mph is all I'll get. But 12 hours of that should be enough; my commute is short.
  25. B

Use garage door opener power for slow (15-20A) charging?

Thanks! I already have a mobile connector. I thought I had a 5-15 adapter, but I now don't know where it is; I see that they're $45. (I have a 5-20 adapter.) It shouldn't be a problem to avoid using the door opener while charging. (Quite separately I just realized it'll be 10 weeks without...

Use garage door opener power for slow (15-20A) charging?

I and my Model S85D will be away from home for the summer for 10 weeks. I've found a short-term rental that is terrific in all respects except that the garage has no power except for the garage door opener. Whether the garage door opener's power comes from an outlet in the ceiling (as does that...

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV (High Roller at LINQ)

As I understand it, this site requires a code provided by in-car navigation to gain entry. I've not been there, but might want to use it next week. I wonder if this glitch affects obtaining the code?

It checks for an update just by opening the Settings::Software page? The only action I can take on the page is to set Standard or Advanced releases; I have it on Standard. Anyway, I did the hard reset, with no immediate result.

    Firmware 2019.24.x on S/X

Off thread topic... According to the Model S Owner's Manual: In other words, a "time-based distance" depends on speed, whereas a car-length distance doesn't. For example, on freeways where the limit is 65 mph, I generally set TACC for 75 mph and following distance to 1. I would never follow at a...

    2016 CPO 75D but Remote S always shows 67kWh

After using Remote S (now officially "Remote for Tesla") for years, I just today discovered that when no charge cable is inserted it shows the current and total usable charge levels in kWh as one of two alternating messages at the bottom left of the lower car-status display. For my 85D, for trip...

85kWhr Model S reduced Supercharging rate reduction confirmed by TOCWA

Just checked away from home. Now, when it's not charging and doesn't have a charge cable inserted, I do see the alternating text including the "... of nn.n kWh" that @swegman described.
  37. B

85kWhr Model S reduced Supercharging rate reduction confirmed by TOCWA

Hmm. Mine just has a constant -- not alternating -- "Added n.nn kWh n.n mi". Nothing changes except the numbers, and the time remaining above the representation of the car alternates with the firmware version. I took the pic soon after the charge started, so the numbers are zeros, but they do...

Variation in predicted kWh among online route planners

I just tried it. The output is graphs from which it's hard to get kWh consumption, but the SoC graph starts at 90% and declines to about 35%, indicating a usage of 55%. I figure my effective capacity is about 73 kWh, so 55% of that is 40 kWh, or about 302 Wh/mi., which seems implausibly low. I...

Variation in predicted kWh among online route planners

Thanks to all who've contributed. I could have made clearer that, while I do prefer shorter trip times to longer, a difference of 30-45min in total duration is not critical. My main question is implied by the thread title. Heretofore I've been using primarily EVTP for road trips, with acceptable...

Variation in predicted kWh among online route planners

I don't know how to use the in-car nav to get a prediction from a distant starting point. At this writing I've never been to Chico, CA. I'm planning to arrive there on Aug. 9. "Usually (but not always) [SOC at arrival] will increase as I drive." Usually for me it decreases fairly rapidly near...

Variation in predicted kWh among online route planners

EVTP and EVTG (see original post for glossary) do not use reference consumption as an input. Not realizing, before your reply, the importance of that number to ABRP, I had left the input as what it originally downloaded from my car via Tesla. (At least I think that's the source.) That number is...

Variation in predicted kWh among online route planners

Background: on Aug. 10, 2019, I'd like to make a trip from Cal Northern School of Law, Chico, CA, U.S.A., to the Tesla Supercharger at Donner Pass, CA, without charging en route. Question: can I make it with a reasonable margin for safety? I'm the original owner of the car, so I have some...

Does everyone have latest software update 2019.16.2?

A couple of weeks ago on 2018.50.6 I had some flakey symptoms, and I thought maybe an update would be curative. Tesla pushed an update but it failed. I took it to a SvC and they couldn't get an update to succeed. Finally they determined that my MCU would have do be replaced. (And they couldn't...

    Should 2015 85D still be on 2018.50.6?

Correction: it's still in warranty. Later news: yesterday on first drive since my previous reports in this thread, no cellular signal (in metro Las Vegas); cured by en route center screen reboot. Later, at home, car inaccessible via phone app until after Power Off reset. Still later, got another...
