    Naming Your New Car

The best bit about that list is the generation gap between drivers of Model S ("KITT"), Model 3 ("Serenity") and Model Y ("Rocinante")!
  2. C

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

You have an RN, so you have an order. Be cool, soda pop.
  3. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Nah, they don't build them to order. There just aren't that many permutations, so they schedule a variety of builds based on estimates, then match them to orders after building (sometimes well after - when the car is on the boat, or already in the country).

What is the state of play in Oz with V2G?

I'd ignore the V2G parts entirely - Tesla's don't do V2G at the moment, and there's no indication that this will change in the short or medium term; and V2G currently requires an external inverter which are expensive, not available in this country yet and count towards your total DC inverter...

Perth 2022 Blue LR Model 3 on Aussiecams

So in summary: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
  6. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

A small number of reallocated demos to fulfill some of the oldest orders on the book were new arrivals - a poster here got one that has an April build date.

Practical kilometres in a M3 long range

Can confirm, the 2019 SR+ needs a brief stop in Goulburn (or, I guess Sutton Forest now!).
  8. C

Safe Powerboard or Double Adapter for Universal Mobile Connector

If it's on your own circuit, you should definitely get an electrician to wire up a separate socket for charging rather than using the adaptor. Each plug/socket in the path is a potential site for an unsound connection to develop, which will heat up under sustained high load. The Tesla UMC has...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Accepting Delivery happens when the car is actually in your possession. Hard to see why you'd want to remove FSD at this point though. Maybe if you remove it before formally accepting delivery, you can be refunded for it and the LCT on the FSD price, then re-add it later?

    Supercharger - Albany, WA

Based on my experience, the executed version is the version they got back signed by Tesla.
  11. C

Practical kilometres in a M3 long range

Do you do the one-way trip without a mid way charge?
  12. C

    Type 2 BYO Cable Model3

I've had a type 2 cable for two and a half years now, and I've maybe used it half a dozen times in that period, and that's all been opportunistic charging rather than necessary charging while traveling (traveling has all been DC chargers on the road, and cabled destination chargers or mobile...

Perth 2022 Blue LR Model 3 on Aussiecams

It's also allowed when driving in congested traffic, travelling in a special-purpose lane and a few other obvious exceptions.
  14. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Everywhere was negative on EVs until Teslas starting showing up on their streets.
  15. C

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The release notes are for the features, which don't change within a branch - ie. the release notes are for 2022.16.<anything>.
  16. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

My understanding is the same as AndrewSA: When it's exempt, it can all be funded pre-tax (so in the example it would go to $750 pre-tax, $0 post-tax). The saving you make is the tax you don't pay on the $510 - instead of reducing your take-home pay by $510, it's reduced by a smaller amount...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

You don't need to unlock the phone to unlock the car. Just needs to be within about 2 metres of the car, with bluetooth on and the app active.
  18. C

    Supercharger - Griffith, NSW

I think Cowra works better, being the crossing point of the Olympic Hwy route as well as the Lachlan Valley Way north-south route.
  19. C

    Showroom - Mount Gravatt, Qld

    As is Goulburn.
  20. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Nope. Next thing that happens is a VIN assigned, but that doesn't happen until a car is built and matched to your order. On current estimated delivery dates, that's probably not going to be until late January.
  21. C

    Supercharger - Cann River, Vic

Cann River to Canberra SC - 287KM.
  22. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Maybe try on the phone? I'm with them as well.
  23. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I had to get a new conduit trenched in, pulled a 3-phase 32A circuit through, needed a new CB because the previous one was ancient and no longer compliant, new wiring from the meter to the CB. A couple of thousand all up.
  24. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

    Wheel size I imagine.
  25. C

    Evie EV charging networks

Waiting for the oil price to go down before they buy asphalt?
  26. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

They seem fine, though it's not like I've taken it to the track or anything. I have had to do an emergency stop when someone failed to give way at a t-intersection and the tires performed flawlessly then. They do seem a bit more durable than the PS4s that the SR+ I had before came with.
  27. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Yeah my LR delivered in September had them, the changeover was a fair bit before that too.
  28. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

The factory tire has been Hancooks for at least a year now.
  29. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Mine has 2022.12.3.2. Others have various 2022.16.* versions, and probably some others beside. The version number is structured as <year>.<week>.<revision>.<patchlevel>. The year/week is when that branch of development was split off from the main development trunk, but those branches end up...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Be aware that the last time EAP was offered (a couple of years back - maybe mid 2020 from memory?), it was a limited-time offer, unavailable for purchase after the end of the quarter. Not saying that will be the case this time necessarily, but something to keep in mind.
  31. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

It's actually part of the set up process for a Tesla to give the car a name - it shows up in the app, website etc (I guess so you can see which car you're operating on when you have more than one). I called ours the Heart Of Gold, referencing both HHGTTG and that very expensive battery at the...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

This is great news, assuming it works well!
  33. C

    Tesla Model Y-LR in Australia

All three got homologated as far as I recall. Doesn't mean they didn't change their mind in the meantime, though.
  34. C

Ev charging in the next 1-2 years

Like the Dan Murphy's at Batemans Bay, and the infamous Albury Rubbish Tip Charger? What about the BioFil ones across the Nullarbor, though?
  35. C

Ev charging in the next 1-2 years

I was going to point that out too. NRMA also has one in VIC, at Mildura.
  36. C

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

My hunch is that it's the opposite - Tesla knows the BMS is being slightly pessimistic (for good reason, as you mention earlier), but that pessimism is essentially a systematic error term that will accumulate over many partial charge/discharge cycles, to the point that it shows an excessively...
  37. C

    Evie EV charging networks

The Northbound entry hasn't been deleted - it's now linked to the Evie charger status, which shows them both as "Unavailable", which makes the site invisible in the phone app (but not the website). If you log in to the website and bookmark the site there, it'll be visible in your bookmarks on...

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

It's probably reasonable that the "track mode" software only comes with the P. Maybe it could be a post-purchase upgrade for the other submodels though!
  39. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I drove a few hundred kilometres on two-lane country roads this weekend, with no phantom braking events. With older versions of the software from a year or two back it would most often happen on corners with dark shadows on the road and large trees/obstacles on the outside of the corner. In my...

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

Depends if it's the RWD or the P.
  41. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Tesla only counts a sale once the vehicle has been signed over into your possession.

    NRMA fast charging network

Casino is fantastic news, there's not much in that area.
  44. C

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

It won't be a problem, and unless you're changing states your license number should stay the same anyway.
  45. C

    Evie EV charging networks

    From @Chuq 's spreadsheet, last I knew.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Just use "Scheduled Departure", set the off-peak end time for 6AM and a departure time whenever you normally leave in the morning.
  47. C

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

9AM is the rumour I hear.
  48. C

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

Since the Turandot was carrying Model 3s originally intended as store demos, now redirected to customers, it seems quite plausible that these are demo Model Ys.
  49. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Your eyes have far better dynamic range than any camera. In videos at night the light from the screen will make everything else look very dark, but when you're actually in the car your eyes can easily see the darker bits of the interior in the diffused light. The steering wheel buttons are...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

He is entirely entitled to trade on his reputation, which is well earned.
