You could probably get more panels from Tesla and PWs for the same price. My 8kW and 2PW was 34K last year but I imagine it is more now.

It’s something I see from the alerts API in pypowerwall. I assume it is something related to software, no clue what it stands for though. Just know whenever I see that alert my PW wont do anything when I toggle between EE and Solar.

I noticed the same behavior and see there is a new alert on the system SW_EOC which makes me think TOU mode now does some sort of calibrating. If I leave it in TOU mode I don’t see it but switching modes will cause it to happen sometimes.

My max export of solar + PW is 14.4kW which is 60A @ 240, which makes sense since there is only an 80A breaker for my system to the main panel.

I am in the same area and all the neighborhoods around me are out of power. Not sure how my small pocket was able to keep power, but bumped up my reserve to 100% just in case. Hope PGE can repair things quickly.

The max panel current is set to 100A. I have a backup switch and there is an 80A breaker on my main panel that feeds the sub panel for my PW+ and PW.

I imagine your NEM balance is always negative, so doubt it would be really useful for you. Probably more useful to those with smaller systems and end up with a NEM balance. I usually have a NEM balance due to charging my cars, so using this mode will help my zero it out.

Seems like something has changed behind the scenes with the export feature. My PWs will still export at the max kW, but once it hit 62% SOE it went into standby mode even though my reserve is set to 10%. Not sure if it is learning based on my usage or just picking some number.

Anyone else having issues with TOU mode today? Wanted to try out the options now that it is summer rates, but for some reason my PW isn't discharging during peak periods regardless of what setting I use. Looking at the API I see the alert below on both my PWs, but not sure what it means...

Same thing happened to me as well, but should kick in by 4PM. I think the next day or maybe a few days later it started discharging during shoulder again. It should discharge during evening shoulder though.

As far as I know, it is based on hourly net energy consumption.

I use Home Assistant to do most of the automation, so at peak hour it toggles export to Everything and then once it drops below 60% it switches back to solar. Maybe one day I'll turn it into a proper add on but for now I just call a simple python script to toggle the setting.

That would send all solar to the PW. Was trying to optimize between paying less NBC and discharging PW less, but probably not worth it.

If you consume a lot more kWh than you generate, you will ultimately owe PGE more. I definitely use more than I generate but because of NEM and being able to shift my power, I can offset those costs and export more power during peak hours. With PW I only use the grid when rates are the lowest...

With all the exporting I’ve done this month, I think I will most likely zero out my usage during the winter months on the next bill so might switch over to self powered to save on NBCs.

There is a link in the first post that goes over the options. I’ve been exporting about 40% of my PWs during peak daily, but maybe makes more sense to wait till summer rates start as the delta is larger between off peak and peak.

Once you’re logged in, you can go to /service to reset it or /sharing to get to the power sharing menu.

It did for me. Make sure they add a Neurio to monitor your existing system, otherwise the system won’t work correctly and the stats in the app will be wrong. Only thing is your existing system will continue to export, which you already have PTO for so shouldn’t be an issue.

I think they probably did make a mistake. Surprised they didn’t leave you a copy of the design docs, they gave me a copy as soon as they arrived and explained what was being installed. My PW+ has a 50A breaker.

I didn't realize I had the same problem also until I zoomed into my graphs. It is still collecting data points so I guess the gateway isn't actually going down but doing some soft reset on the inverter, but yes weird time to do it.

After scheduling my appointment, it kept getting pushed out due to no parts available. Took about 3 months to get it installed.

Oh I imagine they will only work if it shows up in the app, but I don't have a way of trying it out since it is enabled for me.

How do others figure out the parameters for the API endpoints? Trying to figure out what the parameter is to set the new Powerwall endpoint grid_import_export is. I tried to use mitmproxy but I guess the app pins it’s own certificate or something.

Anyone know if it is possible to stop getting the bill through the mail? I used to never get bills via mail since I have paperless set up, but ever since moving over to NEMPS I don't see a way of stopping it. Seems like they recently switched over to some recycled envelope at least.

Based on this it looks like there may be some feature with vehicle charging coming out, maybe an automated way to use excess solar to charge.

I finally found someone willing to help me. I just asked to turn the feature on my account, went to go "check if its availabie in your area" for about 20 minutes. Asked who my utility was and it was enabled. I am guessing they are probably still rolling out communication to the support teams...

Did Tesla submit your PTO? PGE must really hate you if they called Tesla just to tell them to block your account.

Sounds like BS to me, I doubt they are keeping track of things on a per PGE account basis.

Any tips on what you did? I can't even get them to "check with Engineers", they just keep telling me that I need to wait for the features to be pushed out no matter what I say.

You must have hit the Tesla support jackpot. Every support person I have chatted with just pastes the same response, "App developers are still pushing out all the features, please wait 3-4 weeks".

Only thing I saw in my interconnect agreement was this, which as @wwhitney mentioned means as long as charging from Grid is not enabled this would be fine. Maybe Tesla will later will remove Grid Charge if you choose to enable the Export feature.

This is why I would be a horrible lawyer. That is true, PW is charged only with solar so does it matter. I am sure PGE would argue otherwise, but nothing specifically states I can’t do that from my agreement as far as I can tell. I couldn’t even get to a point where the support person would take...

Ah yes I did misread that sentence about the battery storage exports, but I think based on the first sentence alone that is probably enough for Tesla to deny enabling it. I will have to try my luck again later, being able to export some of my PW during Summer Peak would be really nice.

Is there anything that I could point Tesla to specifically that says this should be allowed? Only thing I really see from NEMPS FAQ is that Battery Exports are not eligible for NEM credit, which doesn't necessarily mean exporting from battery isn't allowed at all.

I tried chatting with Tesla support today, but seems like I got someone who didn't know and kept on confusing the option with PTO. They just kept copy and pasting different things from the support page, I'll try again later and hopefully I get someone who knows more.
