FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Actually that is another improvement that I've seen on my cross country trip. Different states have different approaches of marking on/off ramp lanes and Autopilot/NoA did a very good job staying in its own lane when the on/off ramps widened the lane without a lane line separation.

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

EU might be one of the last developed parts of the world that gets FSD, I honestly do believe that Tesla will go down the path of least resistance for deployment then use the fleets global statistics to appease the EU regulatory beast.
  3. mikes_fsd

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

That's pretty simple. I can use EMV Chip payment processing as an example. If you change the firmware on the device that accepts EMV Cards (chipped/NFC) - in the US - you have to recertify the firmware before you deploy it. I would imagine that they have a certain Autopilot firmware branch...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Again, I think this is a EU versus US release differences. Not only has cut in detection worked for me for many months, but now I have experienced where the car properly/gracefully slows down for merging traffic of highway on ramps.

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Indeed, this is my new "Brandon" account from the Beta 8.x release. Brandon seems to be much happier which the 9.x releases but @Frenchie seems to be running into ALL kinds of issues. The camera setup is definitely sweet, you can rewind and watch from any angle you want...

    Tesla AI Day - 2021

Let me ask you this: Do you believe you can train a NN to understand your surroundings? (The way Tesla claims they have and backed that claim up with FSD Beta releases) If no, then there is no further discussion that can be had! If yes, then we can go on to the next part of the discussion...

    Tesla AI Day - 2021

My autonomous driving history: Autonomous Car Progress I started on the other side... I was a Waymo fan way before I knew anything about Tesla -- let alone Autopilot.

    Tesla AI Day - 2021

    - GLOBALLY that statistically saves many more lives than a tiny sandbox deployment of a few dozen cars. In a tiny sandbox that has shadow cars following with techs to help it get unstuck. I know that "Real" I've watched the videos!

    Tesla AI Day - 2021

I've been following Autonomous driving since before you, and follow the companies pretty closely. There is no need to ignore anything! The consumer facing products clearly show who's got what. Not some presentation or demo! For those that care (or not but still want to know) here is my...

    Tesla AI Day - 2021

Whatever helps you sleep at night - I guess! Seems a lot of the fantasies about FSD have a tendency of becoming reality. Remember the initial traffic light detection release and the BS the peanut gallery poured on that feature? I have not had that feature fail on me in the life of my 11/2020...

    Tesla AI Day - 2021

That's your right. I do not respect @diplomat33 because he is blinded by shiny presentations and demos and when you point at valid criticism of - for example - Waymo failing at encountering a cone and then Waymo employees saying that Waymo goes around construction to begin with" (yet to...

SERENITY NOW! - Autopilot Chimes are way TOO LOUD!

Well then, if Joe Mode is not enough, I think you're out of luck -- at least until L4/L5 self driving arrives. I just don't see Tesla legal agreeing to take on that sort of liability before full autonomy.
  16. mikes_fsd

If you can't sleep in it, it is not self-driving

Disagree - they've stated their claim pretty clearly and that is the final goal for the Autopilot suite! EAP was firmly in the old legacy code base (code 1.0) there was very little chance that EAP ever survived with FSD work in general. P.S. you cannot code enough exception blocks (old code)...

    Snippiness 2.0

Me, the guy who's actually observed and experienced progress with his own cars -- from original AP1 functions improving and later to AP2.x going from worse than AP1 to doing what it does today and taking me 98% of my cross-country trip from LA to TX to NC. Yes, I am calling you delusional.
  19. mikes_fsd

    Snippiness 2.0

Alright, have fun with your delusions. Muted.
  20. mikes_fsd

    Snippiness 2.0

Because progress does not stop for one. You really are stuck in some legacy stack mentality. They are not going to sink talent updating anything that was firmly in the 1.0 code stack. The Karpathy Doctrine is that AI takes over the entire stack (code 2.0).
  21. mikes_fsd

    Snippiness 2.0

Sure glad that the world does not run on your thoughts. The intent of this event is: "Convincing the best AI talent to join Tesla is the sole goal" - Elon Musk There will not be dumbed down anything. Go watch a Waymo presentation with @diplomat33 if you want dumbed down!
  22. mikes_fsd

    Snippiness 2.0

I find it fascinating that @diplomat33 -- the guy that starts a forum thread for every PR stunt by Waymo/Cruise/et al -- would agree to categorize Tesla Autonomy day as "hype and nonsense"! But he takes "autonomous driving very seriously" 🤡
  23. mikes_fsd

    Snippiness 2.0

Are you serious? Did you watch Autonomy Day in 2019? That FSD computer was hype to you? There are now over a million cars running with that computer in the world! Some serious drugs you're on... lower the dosage!
  24. mikes_fsd

If you can't sleep in it, it is not self-driving

I actually understand why EU residents are upset (I just don't understand why they are upset with Tesla), they get f#cked by their regulators to the point where normal Autopilot is sh!t but most users/owners just complain about Tesla! The Autopilot functionality we have here in US performs...

Will car stop at red light stop if overridden?

LOL. First, touching the brake on any Tesla that has ANY Autopilot features turned on, turns them ALL off (even TACC). Second, the use of pedal and stalk is documented in the car. The "difference of opinion" is not one, the OP is asking "if I confirm the green light and THEN the light changes...

    FSD Payment Method

My bet is that the fee structure is way different (lower through Plaid) and thus for such a large transaction they decided to save the 1-2% on the transaction fee.

Adding another camera to the front bumper

I disagree. I still feel like the FSD beta is not running on the full 360 view (I know that FSD Beta v9 is pure vision - but not convinced it is a full 360 unified view) Here is an example... Watching so many video's (especially Chuck's unprotected turns bonanza) it seem (pure speculation on...

It's happening....FSD v9 to be released (to current beta testers)

I don't think it matters what the dude was doing. What matters is that he was not paying attention and tragically died because of it. He could have been snorting cocaine -- still does not change the end result.

    Autonomous Car Progress

Yes, but 1 - I want the source linked, 2 - the context of the post is clear beyond without confusion. The problem is the dimplomat had nothing useful to add, so he latches on to anything that might make Waymo look bad and tries to steer the conversation off in the direction with plenty of Waymo...

    Autonomous Car Progress

Those that have a beef with Tesla over the FSD package have no-one else to blame but themselves. No matter what time or which "version" of FSD you were buying, the site had always indicated that this is a work in progress... here is an example of that verbiage on the site today: But in...

That ride was a test that is needed by Tesla. It was a perfect example why the closed beta is needed.

This, I will have to disagree on. Non-technical people is going to be so raw as it can get without trying to over complicate it.

If you're leasing a car, sure. But if you're like me, who keeps his cars on average for 9 years, you're better off buying.

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

You would get whatever they're having (hopefully better than what we're seeing in the videos right now) once it is deployed to the rest of the fleet. The exact timing of that deployment no one knows. Right now, it is in this closed beta stage. The next step is to see it in the early access...
