Tow hitch bike rack for model y

We've been using a Thule rack for the last several vehicles and it's sturdy but light. This link is for their 4 bike rack. One thing to be aware of though is that the different geometries of the bikes can interfere with each other. I can fit our 2 gravel grinders on the Thule but also have to...

Spare tyre under-trunk modification for Model Y?

Unless of course you're out in the boonies with no cell service (e.g., many locales in NV).

Spare tyre under-trunk modification for Model Y?

All of the above. I carry a can of fix a flat, plugs and an air pump, and on long trips a modern spare.com Our 2017 Volt didn't come with a spare tire as many, many new vehicles don't anymore.

EXISTING vehicle orders will not include the mobile charging connector (per delivery advisor)

Is that because you already had a 220v charger at home when you got the tesla and just use the j1772 adapter to plug in?

EXISTING vehicle orders will not include the mobile charging connector (per delivery advisor)

Wow, that's going down the road of Kia who also isn't providing 110/220 chargers with their EV6s. I personally don 't know anyone who has a Tesla who doesn't use the OEM 110/220 charger that came with the car. Tesla is no longer including the mobile connector with new vehicles

What's your next EV after Tesla?

I've got an order in for a Mach e on 1/6/22 to replace my wife's Volt. I've just read about the BMW i4 M40 though and it's in about the same price range. I've had 2 BMWs in the recent past and both have been excellent products from a build quality and driving characteristics. The X5 45e though...

April 2022 Drive Electric Earth Day

I just ran across this and registered to show our MY AWD in SLO on 4/23 but there are other events across the U.S. this month (April) Drive Electric Earth Day

From ordering to receiving a VIN in less than 24 hours?

My order was last year, 2021 and it seems that was a lucky fluke getting the order in just before the end of the quarter and just living 200 mi south of their CA factory.

    Used Model Y Prices

The cost to replace my MY LR AWD that I got 3/31/21 is now $11,000 more what I paid for it less than a year ago. Wow.

DIY Ceramic coating - don't waste money with a pro

I ordered our MY on 3/23 and it was built 3/28 and delivered 3/31/21. When I had my local ceramic pro guy come over to do this and the frontal ppf he put on high intensity lights to examine the paint closely. And he showed me what he was doing. Neither he nor I could find any flaws that needed...

    Genesis GV60

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Before I got my Y I thought that the front of the 3s and Ys looked like the mouth of Voldemort. I've now gotten used to it and yet have wondered if there isn't some applique that could improve its appearance.

How to choose hotels on roadtrip?

Hi all, Thanks for this thread. Most helpful tips and suggestions. I've book marked it for when we start road tripping again (shortly I hope).

    Tire rotation

I bought a road hazard warranty from them after getting a very slow leak from a screw in a tire. They fixed the flat (tire off the wheel and patch on the inside), re-balanced it, and rotated the tires at the same time (6500mi) as part of that warranty. Well worth the piece of mind.

    daily battery charge rate recommended

For me at least the OEM 30A charger is quite sufficient for overnight charging. All I needed was to add a second 240v 40A plug in the garage (our Volt uses the other 240v receptacle).

    Long Line for Charging

That long wait for chargers happened over a Xmas or Thanksgiving holiday travel weekend when a pass over the I-5 to the east was closed because of a snow storm so all I-5 traffic was diverted to the 101 that runs through San Luis Obispo. And as @LoudMusic has noted, since then Tesla's put in a...

    Model Y spare tire?

Well I have had a screw in our Tundra pickup truck when up at Huntington Lake which is 40 and 22 miles from the nearest garage in Shaver Lake and there's no cell service up at Huntington. And it was on a Saturday afternoon.

Any compelling alternatives to a Model Y?

Well I have an order in for a Mach e Premium AWD after getting to test drive one on some twisty roads east of AG. I really liked how it handled and to me at least, it seemed to have better "road feel" than my MY. I like a sporty ride, having owned a Miata for 12 years until just a few years ago...

New Heads Up Display for Model Y / 3

The replacement cost for my brother in law's Corvette (a C-06 IIRC) was ~$1200 because of the heads up display in the glass along with antennae, etc.

    Model Y Alternatives?

We've had a 2017 Chevy Volt for 6 years this spring and maintenance has consisted of oil changes every 24 months. And the only time we need to gas it up is when we have taken it on long trips. Just sayin'.

HI all, You may also be aware that Tesla's EPA range claims are self-reported and overestimate actual range because of the way they self-test their vehicles. See this for details: Edmund's report

Mustang Mach-E Gets Great Reviews = Model 3 Challenger

Having been a US Cycling Moto Ref for several years (cat B) and riding motorcycles for 10 years I've learned some good habits of defensive driving. Yup, Big Sur is a spectacular drive and if you're only going one way I'd recommend it be south as the pullouts are on the right side going south. And if you're charging at the Madonna Inn in SLO, check out the bakery in their cafe. Their cakes are amazing!

Mustang Mach-E Gets Great Reviews = Model 3 Challenger

After test driving a Mach e LR AWD on Wed, I would beg to differ. The quality of the fit and finish and interior are first rate and the driving experience is much more engaging compared to our MYLR. I found it has a much better road feel compared to our MYLR and is simply more fun to drive. It's...

What would be the coolest car to convert to electric?

The Sunbeam Tiger might be a better fit as it has had a v-8 under the hood :) and might be better able to handle the increased weight of the batteries.

Wiper Blade Sizes and Wiper fluid question

I was looking at my blades yesterday on our 3/21 build Model Y and they look to have a different configuration from the Model X with the washer fluid coming out of the blade itself.
