    12 volt battery options

    4th year?
  2. Dennisis

    range anxiety

yeah, my days of toughing out the 12 hour road trips with a couple of gas stops are in the past. Love the fact reasonable stops are required now, arrive much more refreshed.
  3. Dennisis

What’s your longest drive without charging?

Waited too long, only have 15 minutes or so.
  4. Dennisis

    12 volt battery options

OK apparently I'm super in touch with my car's needs :) Scheduled service to get my battery replaced as indicated above, tech should be here any minute now, and just received this error (now a warranty issue):

    CCS Adapter - ?

I ordered mine 06/18 and it will be here tomorrow so yours shouldn’t be far behind.

Use Plugshare so you know exactly where all the available chargers are! Makes planning even easier....

Anyone using the 20" non-foam tires?

I bought the MPS AS4's a few months ago - great tires, MUCH better than the Goodyears. Ride better, quieter, better grip, etc..
  8. Dennisis

    CCS Adapter - ?

Agree. I really don’t anticipate needing it but I’ll feel better having the option just in case. Especially with the increased competition for supercharging slots. IMO this makes much more sense than the lengths/expense some go to lugging a modern spare tire around every day.
  9. Dennisis

    ear bud's or headphones

From a quick search apparently it's not possible. Only thing I saw was in reference to rear seat entertainment on the X I believe. Not sure why you would want to?
  10. Dennisis

    CCS Adapter - ?

Went to lunch with my wife and friends today, saw a guy charging his Hyundai Ioniq at an EV Go and asked how it was going. Curious as my CCS adapter will arrive this week and I'll be testing it out. Said he was only able to get like 35KW but he lives in an apartment and doesn't have charging...

Recent Road Trip Report with Stats and photos

Nice writeup! Looks like a nice place to stay. I took delivery 6 Jun 20 and my stat's are almost exactly the same... :)

    2022.16.1.2 update is here

Do a reboot, just like your computer, to fix.
  13. Dennisis

    2022.16.1.2 update is here

I wasn't very clear - I meant 2022.16.2 vs 2022.16.1.2. I don't see anything new on the 2022.16.2 which usually means just bug fixes, especially when they come out so close together. Overall I like the changes - thicker regeneration indicator (yes, just turned 60!) and better visualizations...
  14. Dennisis

    CCS Adapter - ?

I get my adapter on the 28th and I plan to test it out later in the week. I’ve signed up for Chargepoint and EA so I’ll soon be locked and loaded for more options. Fact is I don’t expect to need it but hey, another tool in the toolbox right?

    2022.16.1.2 update is here

I haven't noticed anything different in .2, probably just bug fixes.

Endless search for a MagSafe phone mount is over?

I installed my Spigen today, will wait the recommended 12 hours to let the adhesive set up before using it. So far it looks like a quality product!
  17. Dennisis

What’s your longest drive without charging?

225 miles from Poncha Springs, CO to Sante Fe, NM - long stretch between superchargers coming back from Glenwood Springs, CO. Started out at 98%, arrived with 16%. That is one boring stretch of road and I've done it twice now, will change up my route this year for sure....
  18. Dennisis

Brand of 12v battery for Model Y?

Yep, Mobile Service doing mine next week, $110 - very reasonable.
  19. Dennisis

Endless search for a MagSafe phone mount is over?

Oh excellent looks good! I’ll see how the Spigen works out and consider this for a fallback. Not worried about the battery really as I get a new phone every year, 2 years at most. I’d be fine with the OEM charger really if it actually charged.
  20. Dennisis

Battery Degrading question on Model Y

There is literally a ton of info on this same subject already posted, do a search. Change your display from miles to percent and don't worry about it, all good. Read my friend! In the end I'm confident you'll come to this same conclusion :)
  21. Dennisis

Endless search for a MagSafe phone mount is over?

Interesting - where did you mount it?
  22. Dennisis

Endless search for a MagSafe phone mount is over?

I just ordered the Spigen wireless one tap - will update with my thoughts once I’ve tried it for a few. I’ve read good things so we’ll see….
  23. Dennisis

    12 volt battery options

Wow, that was quick - at least yours will be covered under warranty.
  24. Dennisis

    12 volt battery options

I just hit 2 years on my OEM 12v battery and scheduled a mobile service appt. for replacement - quoted $110.40 total. At that price it's worth the peace of mind as I have a long road trip planned in Sep and this desert heat eats batteries quickly. Had considered the OHMMU but considering the...

    L1 charging at a hotel

Shoot for a destination charger - that 110 is just too slow....
  26. Dennisis

Okay, some questions after driving for a few days...

Yeah I'm disappointed with the charger for the same reason and I don't know of a good aftermarket one. Think I'm going to start looking for a good phone mount for my iPhone 13 ProMax, maybe one that attaches to the back of the screen so its right there on the left of it.
  27. Dennisis

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

And of course it’s not an EV so kind of apples and oranges here……
  28. Dennisis

    Electrify America

Well I just broke down and ordered it, same place. I've made several 2K plus trips with my M3 and now MY over the past few years and never had an issue but probably best to have the option!
  29. Dennisis

What do yo do for a flat tire?

Good deal get that compressor and a plug kit too just in case! This is the compressor I bought and it's great though there may be better ones now, haven't looked for a few years: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036E9VB6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Driving Range less than expected with new MY-LR

Just turn off the AC on the overheat protection, not the fan. And use your phone app to cool your car for a few before getting in.

Climate Change / Global Warming Discussion

While I agree with the "rational mix..." thoughts I'm not so certain of your comments re the government paying climate scientists. Using that rationale we can't trust police on crime because they're paid by governments too, amongst other examples readily available. But I think we're straying a...

Driving Range less than expected with new MY-LR

Wow, I’m running 267 over 20k and did 250 something with my m3 before.
  34. Dennisis

    Bad AC Smell

Yeah, I was extra careful with that. Next time I’ll get the Nextzett Klima-cleaner for sure - more product.
  35. Dennisis

When is structural battery pack & 4680 cells coming & Why are you not waiting until then?

You live in the largest concentration of EV owners in the country and it's clearly ripe for more chargers - lots of waiting so lots of opportunity. And as far as my big oil comment yes, as I stated this is more about PR than making any money, hence my anti-smoking campaigns from the Tobacco...
  36. Dennisis

When is structural battery pack & 4680 cells coming & Why are you not waiting until then?

Manufacturers are piling on the EV bandwagon but I don’t see a huge effort to expand the charging networks. That’s the bottleneck at this point and will be for the next 5-10 years or so at least at this pace. And big oil will fight it all the way though not overtly. Reminds me of cigarette...
  37. Dennisis

Driving Range less than expected with new MY-LR

I'm sure you must have researched the MY extensively before buying - this really shouldn't have come as a surprise. Range is less than rated but plenty for most not living in remote locations.
  38. Dennisis

Is my Model Y Performance normal?

FWIW, the OP joined and started this thread May 24th and hasn't been back since May 25th. When I see these types of posts and behaviors (time and time again) I'm always suspicious of the intent. And here we are 6 pages and 3 weeks later....
  39. Dennisis

When is structural battery pack & 4680 cells coming & Why are you not waiting until then?

Agreed, going to have to incentivize condo/apt buildings to add chargers somehow. Or neighborhood charging locations perhaps.
  40. Dennisis

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Hmmm, where did people say it’s a smooth ride? I’ve read where they said they liked it and don’t consider it “harsh”. Just another who thinks their opinion is the only “right” one. Oh, and “every professional reviewer”……
  41. Dennisis

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Yep just you, you nailed it....:rolleyes:
  42. Dennisis

    New model y range issues

Sometimes there are compromises if dictated by charging availability and environmental conditions but those are fairly rare and normally easily overcome - normal driving and situations are seamless.
  43. Dennisis

    New model y range issues

More charge and less speed if the conditions dictate. If the wind were at your back you’d have been fine.
  44. Dennisis

    New model y range issues

If you truly feel that way about the car spend a little time reading and using available resources (A Better Route Planner is a good one) to prep for your next trip - it doesn’t have to be hard. I’ll soon be traveling on my annual trip through the Mts of AZ, Utah, CO, and NM with no worries. You...

I'm trying to add an SSD so I can listen to audio books, but I'm having trouble

True but the integration is much more handy with Audible.
  46. Dennisis

    New model y range issues

Thousands take effortless road trips all over the country which you would know if you searched the forum a bit - easy stuff. Not sure why you jump to (threatening?) to sell your car repeatedly on your first posts after joining. Seems like a lot of effort and expense to come to that conclusion so...
  47. Dennisis

    New model y range issues

Response? Find it hard to believe the Nav didn’t instruct you to reduce speed to XX to make it to the next charger in time for you to adjust.
  48. Dennisis

    New model y range issues

I'll be interested to see how this plays out, sounding oddly familiar......
  49. Dennisis

    New model y range issues

So you were using the MY Nav correct? Did it tell you to slow down to a certain speed to make it to your next charger? That would be normal - did you ignore the warnings?

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

I'll be taking that same trip in Sep (part of a longer trip) so just plugged in "Grand Junction" to Phoenix in A Better Route Planner (ABRP) and it shows making 4 stops over 666 miles, down through Moab, Page, and Flagstaff. Total of 4 charging stops lasting around 90 minutes. I recommend...
