Multi storey car parking in a Model X

I think the worse trick is when they put the ticket machine just far enough back on the way out you have to open the door to reach it. Only then do you find out there is a 18 inch kerb below it to smack the door against. Not me obviously, asking for a friend...

    Charging for terraced houses

On the lamp post charging; I recall when I lived in Bolton 10 years ago, the local authority spent a fortune to remove all the concrete street lamps which were right at the kerb side, as they were seen as a hazard. They replaced them with steel ones set back at the full width of the footpath...

Track day in in a P-?

I had the pleasure of bringing a 10 year old 911 back from Oulton Park on a flat-bed truck after snapping a torsion bar. Perfectly happy flying round the track but we were forced off the track at the end across some grass and the back end dropped into a rabbit burrow which collapsed. Stay off...

    MYP UK Waiting Room

That's an interesting observation George. Do you mean different as a result of the incremental changes Tesla make along the way, or different as in different components/specification/set up on the P than the LR? The reason I ask is that the conclusion on the thread comparing M3P v M3LR...

Anyone regretted getting a Performance M3?

Is the suspension the same on the M3LR/M3P - I know the P sits a little lower, so that may just be the wheels?

    MYP UK Waiting Room

Seems to be an issue with MIG MYP deliveries in EU being pushed back due to "...a security-related defect, which, according to initial findings, cannot be remedied with a software update." See here

What did you do to your Tesla Model 3 today?

Looking at some of the traffic on their Twitter I'm not sure they will have much 'good will' left.
  13. HenryT

What did you do to your Tesla Model 3 today?

I think the first free charge disappeared at 2.00am this morning. (mine too, it seems). Much discussion elsewhere on Bonnet's change of terms.

    Road Trip Checks

Assuming you have one, take your Be.Ev card with you as they have done a deal with CPS and that card will work on CPS chargers if you happen to land on one.

    Battery to charge the battery

I wouldn't worry about it as your car will be banned on site pretty soon anyway, when they realise how many cameras it has. Tesla Cars Banned by China Military on Concerns Over Cameras

    Model 3 Leasing UK

I think leased cars are usually delivered on a transporter/flatbed rather than being collected? Others may chip in with ALD experience.

Cabin overheat protection - limited to 12 hours.

So now your telling me I can only leave the kids in the car for 12 hours? Thank god for Dog Mode.
  18. HenryT

Cabin overheat protection - limited to 12 hours.

Given that bits were dropping off the outside of my car in 35 degree heat last year (see earlier comment) I dread to think what's likely to happen at 60+ on the inside. I generally set the windows to vent if I know its warm be today/yesterday seemed to raise the bar a bit.
  19. HenryT

Cabin overheat protection - limited to 12 hours.

In case you were't aware (I wasn't) the cabin overheat protection only runs for 12 hours. Saw mine kick in for the first time in a while yesterday when the temp reached 38 - apparently the ceiling is 40 degrees. Wrongly assumed it would be working today (even hotter in balmy Manchester today)...

    Alternatives to a tesla *gasp*

Yep, concur. It's an abomination. Almost as bad as the 'sliced' grill they put on the 2006/7 3 series, one of which I had and cringed every time I looked at it. Of course, the advantage of driving the BMWs is that you don't have to look at the grill - just watch out for shop windows.

Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

I called at my local service centre when I collected my car but found that Tesla wouldn't even look at it, let alone book it in until it was in my name and on the app. I had to send a copy of the log book in my name to get the car transferred to me on the app so that took about 4 weeks all in -...

Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

Sounds like agreeing an appropriate reduction in price is the only option if they won't underwrite it then? When I bought my 2015 Model S the selling dealer agreed to cover the cost of replacing one of the steering wheel control wheels which was pushed in and unusable and also the cost of a...

Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

Can't you get the seller to deal with this or make it a condition of purchase with the seller underwriting any costs if Tesla won't do it?
  27. HenryT

    Model Y UK Delivery

Without too much research, you have trade type options with Motorway, We Buy Any Car and Arthur Clark all of which will give you a price based on a few photos. I'm sure there are others too. As to what you might ask/get on 'deals between privates', I'd have a look here at what other...

Have you ever kerbed your Aero wheels?

I had a similar problem with the MS I had. Dreadful turning circle and as you say the comedy lines didn't help. I ended up putting tins of beans on the drive to try to figure out what the reversing lines were trying to indicate. Still seemed to bear no relation to the width of the car or the...

    UK Charge Point Installer Recommendations

I suspect I'd leave mine* to avoid the faff and to 'enhance' the feature list. *(On that point, important to retain the paperwork/certs etc as I'm sure a lawyer acting for the buyer will want to see them)

Wall charger price just dropped after purchase

I wonder if the price adjustment policy would apply to the Tesla shares I bought a couple of weeks ago for $800?
  33. HenryT

    prevent access to wall charger

I regularly pass a small hotel/B&B round the corner from me and they have a untethered Rolec charger with a cable left plugged in and draped across the floor. The charger is to the side of the hotel and on an open area 3 yards from a main road. It surprises me every time I pass that that the...

    [UK] 2022.12.x

The 'notable' part of the episode is that it hasn't done this before or since, other than once immediately after an earlier update, panicking as I turned right at a T junction. (Others had a similar experience I recall, remedied with a subsequent minor update). The behaviour was more than the...

I had the 'take control again immediately' warning yesterday, just casually changing lanes on the motorway with cruise enabled but not autopilot. Car seemed to be panicking about me crossing the lane marker.

    UK Charge Point Installer Recommendations

Teslas could (should!)manage the start/stop times but currently they don't. On its own, the car can start a charge at a given time but oddly doesn't have 'the technology' to stop the charge at a given time. You can set the car to charge to a given % (so long as that is equal to or more than...

    [UK] 2022.12.x

I had a BMW motorbike which had a bizarre way of quoting fuel level. It would show range until you got down to about 35 miles then just a warning to get fuel - no range quoted, but from that point it would begin to show the miles you have done since the warning, increasing as you went on. The...
  41. HenryT

    [UK] 2022.12.x

In terms of mileage expectation I think we all do exactly the same thing, the only difference being where we prefer to start the calculation from. Other than that, agree entirely with your observations.
  42. HenryT

    [UK] 2022.12.x

You might be onto something with your first point @Durzal Your final point I'd disagree with however - the 'inaccurate measure' is more meaningful than % in terms of the distance the car is capable of driving. (Yes, I know 'other factors etc, etc') Knowing the car quotes say 140 miles means I'm...
  43. HenryT

    [UK] 2022.12.x

In a crude way, it is exactly that. The 'quoted' maximum mileage for a full charge is representative of what the BMS believes the battery is capable of based on a fixed m/kWh conversion. It is the one way to simply compare the battery deterioration over time - current quoted maximum v max 'as...

  45. HenryT

    [UK] 2022.12.x

That's beginning to sound like Elon's line - you don't use it so you won't miss it. Personally, I prefer the mileage number rather than the % and appreciate all the nay-sayers' arguments against. I understand entirely that it as about as realistic as the range figure my Ducati quotes, but still...

Nope. Mine's in the garage anyway, so some distance away.
  48. HenryT

    [UK] 2022.12.x

4.8.0 - 1025 - seems to be the current one.
  49. HenryT

    [UK] 2022.12.x

Without any change in software on the car or app, my app has also lost the ability to show projected miles when you move the charge limit slider. Makes no difference if the app is set to miles or %. Currently on 2022.13.3.2. Looks like the 'use %' evangelists have taken over.
