Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Relectant to ask on the FB group for obvious reasons. But is there a process for us to give polite, reasoned feeback on the trials so that the list of locations.instructions can be tweeked to help avoid the charger-geddon that seems inevitable?

These recalls are a huge pita. It is such a nuisance to connect to a wifi and leave it overnight.. ;)

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Sounds about right. I order if availability of other chargers will play a part also. E.g Rugby might be excluded as there are load of other options so no need to open them up?

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

From here https://www.tesla.com/en_GB/support/non-tesla-supercharging " Will more sites open to Non-Tesla vehicles? We’re starting with a select number of sites so that we can review the experience, monitor congestion and assess feedback before expanding. Future sites will only be opened to...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Curious to know people's guesses as to what sites they will open up. Tesla have said only lightly used ones will be in scope so I am guessing ones like south mimms, scotch corner, Darts Farm and Gretna wont be on the list whereas ones with 10 stalls and over will be.

When do you get a registration number

Give tesla a call, they had my reg number on file before the car was actually registered. It had been allocated on their system beforehand. Sometimes if you give an insurance company your VIN they can also obtain it

    Powerwall versus Givenergy batteries

I think one of the key differentiators between powerwall and other battery systems is that the powerwall is the only system able to properly fail over to run the house on battery only if there is a power cut. Something about being able to fully isolate the house from the grid when it happens so...

I *think* it's only on RHD model Y's that have the rear double glazing atm.. Hardly a deal breaker imo

To be fair, unless we get legislation changes and Tesla sort out dealing with narrow country lanes no one is getting level 3 auto driving.

    Supercharging cost

It's not the same for all superchargers. It depends on how busy they are, and the time of day.

Anyone regretted getting a Performance M3?

For me, the largest thing going for the performance version is there would always be part of me that goes "I wonder what the performance was like"

    M3 LR Real World Range

Yeah. That was one of the biggest mental hurdles I had to jump. To link putting miles in the car while I’m doing something else, rather than going somewhere special to put miles in the car and only doing that one thing While I’m doing it. E.g while I’m going to the loo/having lunch, in the...

    M3 LR Real World Range

Honest question. Would you normally do those 277 miles without a stop for stuff like a loo break, lunch etc. in realistic traffic that’s a 5 hour drive and personally I regard that as too long to safely drive without stopping As does the RAC RAC research reveals safety risk - how long do you...

I have an E-Niro 4+ as the wife's car to go along with my M3P. In many ways it feels a generation before my M3P, even though it's on A 21 plate. Basically, you can't really compare the 2 cars driving experience as they are designed for different customers. However Niro plus points over the M3P...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

I'm in two minds about governments forcing companies to open up their IP to other companies. One point of view is, yup it means more people can benefit. The other is why bother investing, innovating and taking a "bet the company" risk when all you need to do is sit on your hands and wait for a...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Making the cabinets isn't the bottleneck, the underlying power infrastructure is. Another factor is the effect of 100k+ Hertz tesla's wanting to charge.

  36. N

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Maybe. But then I still have the issue that it in effect reduces charger capacity and therefore hinders the adoption of EV's unless all cars have the charge point in an accessible to all chargers location. To me it just feels like a minimum viable product rush job

So much this.. I wonder if it's bluff on Tesla's part.. Look we tried to open up our network and it was a disaster. Sorry mr EU you'll have to wait for us to change everything or pass a regulation that says the charge point has to be where ours is ;) On the other hand it could be a simple case...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Technically. I agree with you. However, to my mind, incorrect parking at a supercharger such that you are blocking another is exactly the same as say using 2 spaces at an instavolt, parking without charging or even ICE'ing. They all have the same result, one or more cars unable to charge and...

As soon as you start taking card details then you enter into the world of PCI compliance which puts a ton of technology, legal and security requirements for people taking card payments. Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Not just that. The Cabinets are sized so that the existing cables can draw back inside. Longer cables would mean they would sprawl all over the place and create a healthy and safety nightmare. Fixing it would involve replacing every SuC cabinet as well as fitting longer cables, with no guarantee...
