    Elon Musk

Usual caveats apply - anyone can post anything on the Internet / doesn't make it true, etc. Posted on Reddit. Also seems dangerously close to labor law violations (unclear if Elon cares, though) with regards to those who are/were sick, pregnant, etc. It's also just one person's...

Starting to feel like Cybertruck is going the way of the Roadster: Vaporware

I'm sorry...the Supercharging that was supposed to always be free and the battery swap that was supposed to be faster than filling up with gas? Those have exceeded the initial promises?
  6. D

Starting to feel like Cybertruck is going the way of the Roadster: Vaporware

None of those change the fact that Tesla introduced a new product and said the plan was for that product to start being available within roughly a year, despite the fact that the company had not yet secured factory space for a production line nor the manufacturing equipment to produce it. The...

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

Elon just bumped the launch to "mid 2023", so I'll take the under on your Q4 2023 guess there.

    https://electrek.co/2022/06/22/tesla-cybertruck-design-locked-new-timeline/ Now "mid 2023."

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

I see statements like this often and it's funny...you think they could sell as many as they make if they priced it at $300k? Price matters eventually.
  12. D

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

We don't yet have Tesla's updated post-2019 pricing either. Rumors a few months ago (or last year?) that they were only going to start with quad and dual motor versions. But I highly doubt the dual motor version will cost customers $50k as shown at the unveiling.
  13. D

    Elon Musk

Very bizarre given the backdrop of Elon's child (now 18, I believe) disowning him.
  14. D

    Elon Musk

He (seemingly) didn't vote for him in 2016 or 2020. But now he's open to it *after* the Jan. 6th coup attempt? Should tell you all you need to know about Elon.
  15. D

Elon backtracks (again): will layoff Hourly workers including those supporting FSD program

Layoffs from a company that needs "all hands on deck" to "deliver a record quarter," operating at 30+% margins and expects to grow 50% annually for the rest of the decade?
  16. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Doesn't this describe Tesla circa 2012-2019?
  17. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

CEO of Tesla assigns a value of "basically zero" to Tesla's core business of selling EVs (and solar and battery, for that matter). Apparently FSD is the only reason Tesla is worth more than zero.
  18. D

    Tesla Semi

Remember, production was supposed to start in 2019 (so, can't blame covid for the delay) with.... -0 to 60 in 5 seconds -0 to 60 in 20 seconds at 80,000 max gross weight -500 mile range at highway speeds -400 miles of range (charging) in 30 minutes -a pickup version of the Tesla Semi (a pickup...

Mitigated FONSI, no power plant, no methane production on site, no desalinization plant, 10 test flights per year maximum restricted based on sea turtle nesting season.

    Elon Musk

If he's not giving a timeline, then he's not that serious about it. Just more chatter from a "hyper focused" CEO. Has he presented any evidence for his prediction?
  22. D

    Elon Musk

7.2 billion people on the planet by the end of the century is hardly "population collapse."
  23. D

    Near-future quarterly financial projections

Tesla was allegedly targeting 1k/week production by the end of April out of Giga Berlin. Based on May Europe sales, that hasn't materialized. EDIT - Q2TD (as of 5/31), Tesla had sold just under 3k vehicles in all of Europe. Yes, normal caveats apply (3rd month of a quarter is always the...

    Elon & Twitter

Considering Elon mostly flies by the seat of his pants in these type of things, it's pretty reasonable to assume he's just bringing this up as a way to get out of massively overpaying for Twitter. Elon has alleged 90% of Twitter accounts are fake (with no evidence except to inspect one's...
  25. D

    Elon & Twitter

The CEO of Twitter posted how they calculate the 5%. Elon responded with a poop emoji, in case you're wondering how serious he's taking this.
  26. D

    Elon & Twitter

^Also from Twitter's SEC filings. Twitter stops counting accounts in their mDAU that are determined to be spam, malicious automation, or fake. They then still assign an estimation that accounts among their mDAU (which, again, does not include the known spam/malicious automation/fake accounts)...

    Elon Musk

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

Without getting political, Elon has targeted a certain politician in the last month because she said she's interested in selling her Tesla. Very odd. Wish Elon would just follow his own principles. Again, staying away from politics, but this is at least the 2nd mention of why Elon is...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

https://electrek.co/2022/03/16/tesla-employee-fired-sharing-video-crash-full-self-driving-beta/ Hard to claim "zero accidents" when this happened.
  33. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's really not, because it doesn't factor in what would have happened if a human didn't intervene. I can assume a crash would have taken place at every intervention point and suddenly FSD isn't safer than a 7 year old driving.
  34. D

    Elon Musk

SpaceX has not generated positive cash flow in its 20 years of existence. In a round about way, he's calling for the death of SpaceX. Odd.
  35. D

    Elon Musk

If Musk's plan for Twitter is "total free speech" wouldn't he be doing the same? In theory these lunatics could livestream themselves shooting up a (insert place) and it wouldn't violate Musk's TOS as essentially there would be none with regards to content posted.
  36. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Elon is either lying or doesn't know how shorts work.
  37. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Your first statement is incorrect. But even if it were true, there's only been no accidents because a human driver is needed to monitor and intervene. You are making a definitive based on faulty assumptions. There's simply no way to compare the safety of FSD to a human driver unless you just...

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

The right attacked Tesla for receiving "government subsidies" (EV tax credits, really) and suddenly he agrees that the government should end subsidies. Odd.
  39. D

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

This is about all I could find. She didn't @ him (like he's doing now to her, relentlessly, some might say) and clarified it wasn't even about Elon. Elon trying to force himself into everything is a bit childish and I think reflects a rather fragile ego. Another example - he's clarifying...
  40. D

    Elon & Twitter

Elon says, if he owns Twitter, he'd gear it towards the "middle 80%" of users (I think he mistakenly is thinking of Twitter users as the American voting public, when, in fact, Twitter has users from around the globe...but I digress) and that would eventually make both the far right and far left...

    TSLA Technical Analysis

TSLA has entered the "death cross" this morning (200 day SMA above the 50 day). In the past for TSLA this has meant...precisely nothing. Carry on.
  42. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Allegations, emails & testimony corroborating the allegations, records of a financial settlement & a tacit admission to the settlement by Musk & Space X aren't exactly gossip.

    Is this TMC or 4chan?
  44. D

    Elon & Twitter

Don't think I got an answer to this previously. Relevant now because Elon has declared he is a Republican on the basis that they are the "kinder" party. I didn't see Democrats plotting an insurrection. Elon is out of his element here making a complete fool of himself.
  45. D

    Elon & Twitter

This seems like a sound statistical analysis lmao
  46. D

    Elon & Twitter

It's ok to admit Elon makes contradictory statements lol
  47. D

    Elon & Twitter

https://thehill.com/policy/technology/3267707-elon-musk-says-twitter-offer-not-a-way-to-make-money/ Thought he wasn't doing it to make money, but to preserve free speech? Odd.
  48. D

    Elon & Twitter

If he was going to defeat the spam bots or die trying, why does their existence even matter in context of the acquisition? This seems dumb.

The Tesla Semi Order Books Are Finally Open

Math here is pretty bad, unless I'm misunderstanding. -Average annual mileage of a semi truck is 45,000 miles -Average mpg of a semi truck is 6.5 mpg -over two years, that's 90k miles, or roughly 13,800 gallons of diesel fuel for an ICE semi -At an average of $5.50/gallon, that's ~$76k in fuel...
