2 EV Household - what else you got?

This is where I'm at. I would get another ICE but it would be a westfield, or a TVR, something to blast about at weekends.

Auto Express Top 29 New Car Makers

That's actually a good example: it's nice to have blind spot camera on the Tesla, put it at the very top but the only other implementation I can think of: Hyundai/Kia is implemented far far better. I actually am so frustrated with Tesla. As far as ideas and innovation go there probably at the...

Wireless charging in M3 makes phone very hot

It actually happens right now. There is a fleet of taxis in Oslo that only charge with induction charging

    Alternatives to a tesla *gasp*

This: best alternative to the s. Or it's sister the Taycan. Charging and long range travel EV King at the moment (assuming you can't afford and EQS)

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Sorry I should have said "less safe" BUt yes, being stuck with an old, creaky, slow car for 2 months because Tesla have supply chainn issues isn't great. It's enhancing my need to get rid
  7. Neilio

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Exactly this. If I had been told that it was for a week, I'd be like "fine, give me whatever" but to not like for like replace for at least 2 months is pretty shoddy.
  8. Neilio

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

That must be a new thing? My loaner has chill locked to speed limit.:(
  9. Neilio

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Sarcasm, that's nice for you. It honestly is similar. Maybe chill mode is different on different models? On a 6 year old 75D model S I can confirm it's awful
  10. Neilio

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

    It really really isn't.
  11. Neilio

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Not really, Chill mode badly cripples the car. Stupid to have a 500 BHP car and restrict it. It's pretty much the same acceleration as my other half's Juke. Fine for around town, but if you do a lot of intercity motorway driving (which I do) it's a PIA on long motorway journeys, which is why I...
  12. Neilio

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Not really no. There's a huge difference between driving a trick and a car as you know. It's not the difference between a performance car and chill mode car. It's the difference between any car and a car stuck in chill mode. You just can't make quick progress on a motorway becasue you can't pull...

    More Tesla Nav gripes

IN the nav settings what "time saving" do you have the re routing set to? I noticed this when it was set to save 10 minutes. I reduced it to 5 minutes and I do occasionally get re routed in traffic now.

    More Tesla Nav gripes

"Take the first exit" which is often the cry of the Sat nav, even when you need to take the third!
  15. Neilio

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

I do. I guess it's because it's sooooo much slower than my car. You get used to being able to get into gaps on a motorway. To lose that ability is unnerving. And it's certainly going to make any long trips much more tedious.

Wiki UK and Ireland Supercharger Site News

I was thinking the same thing. There are a lot of spaces, jsut going unused for years. As much as I abhor ICEing (and the identical crime of EVing: parking in a charging space but not charging) This is an exceptional site. It hasn't been functional for so long now, it's just taking up half a row...

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but if just picked up my loaner after being told my car would be two months! In the shop waiting for apart. Chill mode on the loan car caught me out as I tried to floor it to get into a gap in traffic and got nothing. It's frustrating that they do this. It's...

    Apple CarPlay in the UK?

I'm completely different. I don't like limiting myself to superchargers and prefer to charge where in stopping anyway. Which is why the hopeless support for third party chargers on the nav, and the lack of ability to see free chargers on them doesn't fit with me.
  19. Neilio

    Apple CarPlay in the UK?

Yeah, Again the Proshce Taycan does and I've seen it in a Bjoyn Nyland video too, can't recall the car though. Useful feature and way more useful than only showing SuC availability and having a pretty terrible DB of none tesla chargers.
  20. Neilio

    Apple CarPlay in the UK?

That only works for superchargers. Other car navs do it for all chargers. Makes it more useful
  21. Neilio

    Apple CarPlay in the UK?

Yes, I've test driven both a Kia EV6 and a Polestar 2 lately and they both route via chargers. I've also seen videos of a Taycan doing it. I think it's a regular thing. Polestar 2 has charger routing AND android automative (Not android auto note, this is a specific version of android built...

London to Orkney, and most of the NC500, in a Tesla Model 3

I know this is an old thread but I woke up this morning literally wanting to go and do this. Great info and it'll be interesting to see how the charging infrastructure will have changed. in the last few years

What car awards: Model 3 #1 but model Y #10

I Would argue they are in the wrong ones too! The EV6 is the "sporty" version and the Ioniq the "practical". I refuse to call the EV6 an SUV, mainly because I'm probably just about to order one.
  25. Neilio

What car awards: Model 3 #1 but model Y #10

Here's the crux of the issue I guess. It's an SUV, a family car. Not a bone shaking sports car. My M3P crashes into potholes. Which I would expect. If, hevaen forbid, I wanted an SUV I would be looking for something more SUV-y

Just noticed my middle seat doesn't have a seat belt locking clasp?

It's probably within spec. If you have 3 children, decide which one you like the least.

TESLAA - Android Auto for Tesla App

My fave would be waze or Google maps. Which give far better routing than the Tesla nav. Especially in traffic

Locking sound - Bit Petty I Know

It's the American style sadly. As far as I know pretty much all cars over there use the horn as a lock sound. Except the Rivian R1T which uses a bird call. Which I like!

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Just watched an out of spec motoring video where they said as much. the Taycan can plug and charge at certain sights. Sadly he had a press car that wasn't able to demonstrate it
  30. Neilio

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Also the Polestar has the charger port on the right side, which is the left side. So it wasn't taking up an extra bay
  31. Neilio

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Do you really need a pic to work out that some cars, with the charge port on the right, will have to use the "wrong" side of the charger. Meaning a Tesla or a polestar, or and PSA built car wouldn't be able to use it?
  32. Neilio

    Tesla in-car navigation and efficency.

It's not that fiddly surely? Waze has a single button to show alternate routes, wouldn't be a big deal. I do use waypoints, they are really useful for planning charges on round trip journeys
  33. Neilio

    Speed Reduced

I've had the same issue three times now. Twice I was accelerating whilst coming out of a corner so I wondered if that had anything to do with it. The last time I was just driving at 30 on a normal road though

    Average Wh/mi since owning?

Pretty much yes, I have a 220 mile commute to work! That doesn't help at all.

    I'm now ar 322 Wh/mile. I guess I have a lead foot!

Wiki UK and Ireland Supercharger Site News

This is my take too. Hence why I live in West London and complain about the absolute wealth of chargers near me! I don't need them in a place were I get fuel for "free" in my apartment. It's a strange thing but it's really best to complain about a lack of superchargers 200/400/600 miles form...

Rumour of free premium for leases cars ending

I'm not getting very confident vibes from Lex. The chap I spoke to didn't know how to set my account so I could buy it over the app. And he just gave me an email to ask to get it fixed. What are the chances of: a - The guys on the end of the email knowing what to do? and b - It being addressed...

possible first time long distance + wrong side of the road. Tips? Mad?

Seems a reasonable trip to be fair. Literally 3 days after taking delivery of my M3P we were driving to the Dordogne in it. Things to consider: For your moral health (and possible physical too), don't book a P and O ferry. The eurotunnel has superchargers on the Folkestone side. If you go...

    Instavolt - 57 p/kwh

Plus it's premium electricity. Your motors will run better and it has a cleaning agent in it.

    Folkstone Supercharger

This is true. Chatuearoux is a great stop if you're a plane geek, being at the end of a lovely Art deco Airport. But, unless you want to pay €10 for a coffee at the attached hotel it is a long long walk back to the services for a buffalo grill
  44. Neilio

    Supercharger routing to avoid waits

This won't work if people charge correctly for long journeys. Unless you actually set the precise SoC you need to leave every single time. I often just pop in for a splash and dash. I use ABRP to calculate the best trip so the car doesn't know when I'm leaving
  45. Neilio

    Take the first exit

My old Merc sat nav always used to tell me to turn left at the roundabout. Which was technically true, yiu always have to turn left to come off a roundabout but very confusing if you were turning right. I think all sat navs have quirks
  46. Neilio

    Extra range estimation while driving

It's definitely not a steep downhill. No way regen could recoup that much energy that quickly. I've only ever seen that before when I've charged and it's altered the map, but of course that was post charge and reflecting what really happened.
  47. Neilio

    Model Y popularity

    I think it's the shape. It's just really plug ugly. Definitely designed for people who go for substance over style. Hence why it looks like an old folks car. I can't see young people getting excited by it;
  48. Neilio

    Model Y popularity

It could be this. I'm certinaly more conscious of the Y at the moment. Maybe I'm blanking out 3s?
  49. Neilio

    Model Y popularity

I know I've mentioned a few times the model Y is just not my thing (from a design and body type point of view) bit I want it to do well and it appears to be. I ahbe seen so many in West London, an absolute tonne of them, and it's very pleasing. Is the rest of the country like this? Is the...

    Kia EV6

If I could I would definitely replace my model 3 with an ev6. Despite the fact I always normally favour a saloon over a crossover I love the looks of the EV6. I guess going from a performance model 3 I'd have to wait for the GY version. If only I could get out of my lease!
