Seriously. What is your max amount you'd pay for EAP?

They are on their phones, losing situational awareness. Duh. There is such a thing as a silly question. Posting to TMC is not something that can be postponed. But anyway, is there some new news here? I did not think this feature of green light dinging would come to EAP. Is it?

Can’t use FSD after latest upgrade - and inappropriately disenrolled from program!

Don’t worry you are not missing anything! In the meantime you can send the fsdbeta email address your documentation of your cabin camera fix and see whether you can convince them to reset your count. This process may not work at all, and in the best case will take months, so best to start...

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

This post will eventually get moved probably, but anyway, summarizing above: 1) Charging is about 90%-92% efficient at 11.5kW (as low as 70% at 1.44kW). Note that the kWh added in your table is from the screen in the car (not a meter), it appears. Note that this number displayed in the car...

Often the case! This is 3D chess going on here. Also, no correlation was expressed or implied.

    Elon & Twitter

I guess Elon has figured out that the best way to increase his net worth is to not use Twitter. Probably an axiom which applies to pretty much everyone! Lol.

Use Scheduled Departure to Have Less Time at High SOC?

Ah ok that makes sense. I am surprised it is still so noisy below 10k km, but it is better, but I guess in the end there is a limited number of participants.

How to delete a safety score mistake

Email the address they gave you with documentation. They’ll probably ignore it.

Use Scheduled Departure to Have Less Time at High SOC?

I don’t understand why the fleet average is so noisy in this plot. Seems like it is from one other vehicle? I assume TeslaFi tells you how many matches there are to your criteria. I agree: Seems to me your most likely capacity is probably currently closer to 495rkm.

Master Thread - Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Yes, this is a good idea since it keeps depth of discharge to a minimum which is good for all Tesla batteries. It also makes plugging in a habit which is desirable to ensure your car is always sufficiently charged. Bonus: recommended by Tesla. Based on what he said above, probably he does not...

First Tesla pick-up, road trip concerns

I know this wasn’t your question, but I assume you have checked and know what the 100% charge level will be? Always good to know before finalizing the deal, in any case. Sounds like the car has been cared for well, and anything above 280 is good. I would not worry about having the car...

    Mobile connector or wall connector

Only (valid) reason I can think is that he wanted to use a 14-50 extension cord. However, certainly sounds like he was just using an adapter, which is a bit odd. I have a 14-50 cord and 14-30 to 14-50 pigtail which I take with me when traveling to remote places. And have used that setup on...

    Coronavirus

I should hope so! Of course, the more important question is how much lower it is after vaccination (I suspect about 5x lower, but it is going to be a long time before we have enough data to get an estimate on that). Which was my point: As was clear from my post, I was not using protection of...

    Coronavirus

Yep, the nonsense is getting through. Tidal wave! People really think that this intervention has significant risks. A shame really, since there are minimal risks, a bunch of other people (grandparents, etc.) around the kids could be even more protected, in addition to the kids themselves...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Yes, this has been evident to many, except wishful thinkers, for many years! It’s a very difficult problem! Hopefully in 5 years or so there will be some substantial progress with computer vision and AI. There’s hope, but it is very hard to predict whether or not it will be possible in...

    Autonomous Car Progress

Yes. As I said I have no problem satisfying the nags. However, they are extremely annoying. I have my hands on the wheel all the time and am nearly always torquing it. Yet I still see the torque warning pop up (to be immediately satisfied since I am actively torquing the wheel). So I...

    Mobile connector or wall connector

Not sure your exact setup but if the Mobile Connector when plugged into this circuit thinks it can supply 32A, from a circuit actually rated (per your words) to only 30A (24A continuous), then you have a problem. Dialing it down in the app to 29A may prevent a breaker opening but it would...

2022 Model 3 SR LFP Supercharging speed

Taper is normal. Navigate to a v3 Supercharger for an hour (no less, be sure it is whining and preconditioning!), start charging at 10%, let us know how it goes. If you don’t start at a very high rate try a different stall. Recording multiple Rates and corresponding % or a video are...

What is considered a "long trip" when considering charging to 100%?

Normal. Not a big deal. Just tends to cut off near the 100% level. Very common. If you want it to work and keep charging as much as possible, you can do tricks like turning on the AC, etc., which may tend to have the car not tell the UMC/Wall connector to de-energize, which may result in a...

What is considered a "long trip" when considering charging to 100%?

This just tells you the battery is not fully charged and tells you nothing about capacity loss. You can’t see that when in percentage mode. Hopefully there is a good reason for you to charge to 100%. It’s really not the best idea, though if you have to, go for it.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Great information. Thanks. Seems to mostly explain what is seen above. Not sure what the meaning of SMT SOC and SOC expected (expected seems to be true SOC) is (it’s been explained to me before but I have forgotten). If I understand correctly (I may not, please correct!): Anyway it...

Gen 3 Wall Connector current decrease? Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, if it were the wall connector, I would kind of expect it to limit the maximum current available (since that seems like it would be a good way to protect it if it were marginal in some way), but that is not what is happening here. I guess we will see! Thanks for the updates!
  25. AlanSubie4Life

Model 3 completely dead this morning. What an experience. [dead 12v]

I guess this is a disadvantage of the new lithium batteries? Before, you could just disconnect the 12V, start the car up with external 12V, and just drive around with the 12V disconnected, as I understand it. Is it easy to disconnect the 12V lithium with a standard 10mm (?, IIRC) wrench?
  26. AlanSubie4Life

    Autonomous Car Progress

Agreed. I think attention monitoring is necessary but not sufficient. E.g. With the current capability of Tesla FSD it’s absolutely essential you have your hands on the wheel at all times. Sudden steering movements can happen at any time and the delay if you have your hands off the wheel...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Could be anything. These detections appear essentially randomly. Who knows what it is picking up. Video might help but might not. As we know a ton of imaginary stuff shows up on visualizations.

    FSD V GM CRUISE

10 miles per minute. There are about 10k minutes in a week. If you assume average speed of 5mph it’s about 120 vehicles I think, each doing 120 miles per day (note I am not saying anything about the number of vehicles).

    Autonomous Car Progress

I’m more than willing to state that the torque sensing in Teslas sucks. I’d much prefer that I just be forced to keep one or both hands on the wheel, rather than the current nonsense (to be clear, I have absolutely no problem with satisfying nags, it’s a non issue but it sucks). However, what...

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Right, nothing I said contradicts that. Right. But since the energy capacity doesn’t change, of course, since it can’t (unless a different discharge rate is used where there is a ton of internal loss), if they changed Vnom (for whatever reason) then CAC would have to change (scale) to make...
  33. AlanSubie4Life

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

No, it is not a random number! It can be defined in a variety of ways though. I don’t know what the typical approved “standard” definition is, but it doesn’t really matter. My only point was that depending on how it is defined, Vnom may or may not match the time averaged voltage. If it does...
  34. AlanSubie4Life

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

They’re obviously free to scale CAC however they want to make the estimated capacity match CAC*Vnom. But assuming constant current draw over a time period until the battery is empty, and CAC is that constant current * time, then the associated V to give the exact correct capacity would be the...

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

To me it looks nearly perfectly correlated with NFP from your plots (if I understand correctly), except with large rounding error. Which is what you would expect since generally (roughly speaking) it should be related by the effective “average” voltage of the pack during the discharge, to the...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Yeah can happen especially when the car is reflective. Did you have a blinker on? That can potentially also trigger blinker detection. I’m not sure what the car uses these detections for, of course. They seem super sketchy. Haven’t checked recently to see whether there is any...

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Yes, look at long-term trends. Large excursions due to software updates do happen but are also not super common or too long lived.
  39. AlanSubie4Life

Could Tesla recommend which shared SC stall to use on arrival?

Yeah, most of the V2 stations are garbage anyway though and need to be replaced. I usually have to try two or three stalls until I get one that charges at the right rate (and this is without anyone there). I avoid them if there is any way I possibly can (increasingly possible). Plus the...

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Below average but it happens. Also could be a couple % better than that in reality, it is an estimate and can have a little error but is likely largely correct. 266 is actually 16.2% loss (due to 76kWh/77.8kWh discrepancy). If you live in a very hot place it might be real.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Yeah so maybe the three-phase correction would make sense here, but I am not sure. I’m not sure why that correction is really needed for TeslaFi but they have the correction factor so I guess it is sometimes... But anyway thanks for the information.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Good information. Yeah not sure what to make of the SOC discrepancy. Weird that it said 4% on the screen in the car. This efficiency is a bit lower than I would expect. Tangent: There are ways to set user scaling on some of the TeslaFi parameters, by the way. Not sure if it will allow...

2022 Model 3 SR LFP Supercharging speed

That’s not the part of your comment I was responding to. I think I would agree that that is not the best average that is possible. There are plenty of plots here from @Zoomit with various ways to estimate optimal charging time, average charge rates, etc. And usually they can be just...

2022 Model 3 SR LFP Supercharging speed

No, just look at the taper curves around here. Plenty of taper by the time you reach 50%, something like close to 150kW from 250kW peak so 170kW would scale to 100kW or so.
  45. AlanSubie4Life

    FSD Warning Sticker/Magnet

I was laughing at the "sudden braking may occur." Which I think is amusing. Not laughing at you. Obviously you are free to put whatever stickers/magnets you want on your vehicle.

    FSD Warning Sticker/Magnet

I always just override if the car is taking longer to make the turn than I would (or use the accelerator if it works to do so, which it often does). Then I click the camera icon immediately. It makes no sense to make people wait because you're testing the beta feature; it doesn't provide any...
  47. AlanSubie4Life

    FSD Warning Sticker/Magnet

Seems like a solution in search of a problem, since no one should ever know you're testing FSDb (b). It should be essentially indistinguishable from you driving, from outside the vehicle. The car should DEFINITELY not behave erratically. That would be bad, and inconsiderate to other road...

    FSD V GM CRUISE

This is obviously something Tesla has been thinking about, and for interstate robotaxi travel they have likely decided that a couple of Optimus attendants per Supercharger station is cheaper than retrofitting every single pedestal. It makes sense to wait on robotaxis to be finalized since then...

    Coronavirus

Nothing too surprising here. Hopefully in addition to high titers against the latest variants, the approved vaccine also has good breadth. It’s not clear we’re going to make the right vaccine on time though. Current trajectory would spot the virus an extra six months. For sure it will be...

Gen 3 Wall Connector current decrease? Anyone else seeing this?

Might be related to that. Could be a soft failure of part of the PCS, who knows - signature may have changed with software updates. Charging equipment doesn’t seem that likely but certainly possible. Check the voltage the car sees at each of the current settings (after it has ramped and...
