Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Tesla has restored my voltage but has crippled my charge rate at Superchargers. This has a far greater impact for me personally as, when not in lockdown) I Supercharge regularly in my weekly 330km commute. It takes me an hour to Supercharge from 20-80%

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

Now I'm even more disappointed that I was given a reconditioned 2013 battery for my 2015 Model S. It's the oldest Model S battery in Australia!

Ovens site management encouraging ICEing of Supercharger stalls

Yes, they did. Myrtleford would have provided the same benefits but with greater amenity. I think that the suggestion is that we can arrive at a far better outcome for everyone by avoiding confrontation at this stage - make diplomacy, not war! I provided some information as back story, not with...

Ovens site management encouraging ICEing of Supercharger stalls

I've just seen this thread, Ovens is my local supercharger, not that I use it much as I'm charge rate limited to about 40-50kW/hr on superchargers. The Happy Valley Hotel changed hands around this time last year. The previous owner had installed rooftop solar, reed bed sewerage systems and had...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Good grief, it takes about an hour (60 minutes) to add 40kW of power to my car. It took about an hour before the update, it still takes about an hour despite a brief increase in the maximum charging rate.
  15. doctorwho

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Sorry, i wasn't clear, before the update, I had a 'peak' charge rate of 70kW/hr before it settled to 50kW/hr. How I have a peak of 90kW/hr for a minute, before it settles to 50kW/hr.
  16. doctorwho

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

I've had the same experience. My 7 hour round trip between Melbourne and northeast Victoria (that I do at least weekly) has gone from 7.5 hours with a supercharge stop to 9 hours. Since the update, my max charge rate has increased from a max of 75kW/hr (for a minute at 20%) to around 95kW/hr for...

    A mouse ate my Tesla

My 2015 Model S was also attacked by a rodent soon after I bought it. The car arrived during winter so the problem wasn't discovered until summer when it dawned on me that my Model S didn't have bad air conditioning, it had no air conditioning. A rat had built a nest in a similar spot in the...

SA, Vic and NSW proposed EV road user charge

I don't mind paying a reasonable charge that: is part of an overhauled system that replaces fuel excise and registration, and applies to all vehicles doesn't penalise EVs early in their market acceptance that puts a brake a sales. this will happen if it's applied now is a part of a taxing...
  21. doctorwho

SA, Vic and NSW proposed EV road user charge

Its low hanging political fruit. EV owner numbers are small so there won't be much backlash. Combine it with hints of 'elite owners' avoiding paying their share of tax and it becomes a political winner with heaps of potential future revenue growth if EV sales ever take off here (I doubt it now)

    Replacement 85kwh Battery

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

And I had to wait for 2 months for that - a battery with the same potential problems as my old one, and it has less range than my original before they crippled it. Poor form from Tesla. Is it a B revision battery as a 2013 era battery, older than my car?

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

It's pretty poor that they made me wait 2 months to replace my battery with an older generation battery with only 360km range at 100% when my pre-battery-gate battery was giving a steady 357km after 4 years.
  34. doctorwho

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Yep, it looks like a B version battery, just as likely to be battery-gated as the newer battery they replaced it with. Disappointing that they make me wait 2 months to replace it with a 7 year old battery, with presumably, the same chemistry, and maybe a good deal of Li plating or dendrites
  35. doctorwho

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Hmmm.... I was promised a newly manufactured pack, not remanufactured, and had to wait 2 months for it. Is there any way of discovering which generation battery chemistry has been used?

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

OK, the new battery has arrived and has been fitted. I've attached a photo of the Receipt, can anyone tell what sort of battery replacement I've got? All Tesla would tell me is that it's a "new battery matched to my existing vehicle configuration and advertised range suitable for 85kWh"

Update. After a pack failure 2 months ago, Tesla Australia has rung me to say that my new battery has arrived. I'm not sure whether it's new or 'reconditioned', I'm not even sure that I'll be able to pick the car up and exchange the loaner for months as we are likely to have a Covid lockdown...

I've just had a pack failure. The car notified me that battery capacity was reduced, and it refused to charge from any source, so it was flat towed 300km to Tesla as, of course, I didn't have the range to get there. They confirmed the pack failure but they apparently can't get a replacement pack...

I want a replacement pack. It would be very easy for Tesla to reframe this as looking after their customers in a way that would only reassure prospective buyers. I'm also happy to wait if they want a staged replacement process, I'm just not happy with silence

Half our country is on fire, and it's only the start of the fire season. My range has been reduced by 30km and it takes an hour at a Supercharger to charge from 20-80%. I've tweeted Elon to see if he will temporarily lift restrictions on affected Australian cars like he does when there's a...

Both. I lost 40km of range (10%), regained 10km, so still 30km down. I mainly use the car for long-distance travel (I have a 325km commute twice a week). I couldn't buy an ICE again, having bought an EV. Let me say though, with the same experience of being voltage capped and charge rate limited with no direct communication from Tesla, my mind is now open to different brands of EVs in the future. I could never go back to an ICE, particularly...

Sure, I appreciate that, but the only way to ensure that the problem doesn't recur every 4 years is to accept a new pack that is charge rate-limited and possibly voltage limited. They may be able to get around it by replacing 85->90, 60->75, etc
