It's either a software bug or bugs 🪲. The latter is more common. If bug splats interfere with the front camera's vision, it triggers the wipers in an attempt to clean that part of the windshield. If you have FSD active, the wipers are forced to be set to auto and can't be overridden by the driver.

That's why Tesla owners have been agitating for a crowd-sharing option that would automatically alert FSD of hazards like potholes. Instead of blowing a ton of cash on Twitter, maybe Elon should buy Waze from Google. 😄

"exhausting" and "nerve racking" are hardly the words that come to mind when I think about driving FSD beta. I'd say that "entertaining" and "frustrating" would be my choice.

Pretty much every negative you listed is a positive for me. I also have a BMW 530e and I find iDrive to be a confusing mess of knobs and screens. The displays are also overly complicated and there is a surplus of buttons. A car is not supposed to be a living room from 1980.

There is a freeware app that allows you to use Android Auto in a Tesla (TeslAA) without adding any additional hardware. The advantage over the Tesla stock UI is negligible. Siri is better than Tesla's implementation of voice commands, but it's still not all that good IMO.

The problem stems from the navigation using the street address for a destination. If a destination has a big parking lot, you can try creating a waypoint in the lot and that may help.

It's a known bug. Elon even tweeted about what's causing it and that Tesla will fix it with an update. Unless you have something that you need on the USB drive, reformatting the drive fixes the issue at least for a while. The problem does reoccur, though.

It works for me. Did you get the new location permission prompt from Chromium when you ran TeslaWaze? It asks to either allow once, allow forever or prevent? The bad news is that TeslaWaze crashes the browser every ten minutes or so. It appears to occur when new map data loads.
