agree some of the worries new codes w/ ess seem .. arbitrary or knee jerk .. thats why i thought inspector may freak out about a gas line running near the battery(s) .. no rational reason I could think of to be worried / heat required to damage black pipe ... you would have much bigger problems...

pic even makes gas pipe appear copper and possibly soldered at some joints .. if so this is a no and a further no no in most of CA unless things have changed recently in code .. but maybe pic is deceiving

I can’t tell 100% from pics but that looks to be ng tankless water heater and that pipe running underneath power walls I first assumed cold water supply to such … but from trying to zoom in appears to be the gas line into the tankless ?? Am I seeing this correctly?

this worried me as well when i first had my model 3 and home connector .. when maxed out at 48amp the pattern i see is winter spring months low as 240v high as 246v .. summer time high as 241v low as 236v ..(we have gas heating in this area in winter and hot summers for AC use) lowest voltages...

yes mine is enabled as well .. i did not see anything in my paperwork from SCE (utility) stating I could not ... though I did just quickly read through it when the app enabled this feature

i dont personally have option to export from batt only new option to charge from grid outside of storm watch i believe system would export to grid until peak time is over or you hit reserve whichever happens 1st .. others may be able to give real world use answers

timely question .. now that I can charge from the grid and i switched to time based controls from self powered my reserve seems less important .. lowest it hits is ~ 72% from running exclusively on batt 4-9 .. then at 8am powerwall charges up to 100%

this is probably the conensus you'll read on these boards .. crews are often amazing usually at least very good .. Tesla itself is usually a S show 😝

In my months running off grid I noticed refrigerator and microwave both sounded different .. both worked fine far as I know .. micro was noticeable by all fridge by others only when A B comparison .. and of course certain clocks slowly lost accurate time as well my kilowatt showed a less tight...

If its a gateway 2 has recessed “Click” type button in a hole can’t miss it … I find plastic or wooden chopstick works great the full restart process should be on tesla website that’s where I found it basically you are shutting off solar at inverter / shutting off inverter breaker shutting off...

As above try doing a “full reboot” of system this happened to my system after a powerwall ? update .. stuck in a loop that resulted in batts standby Rebooting just the gateway did not fix problem .. had to shut down everything (main breaker and all) then after restart working normally

if you search i know there are a few ppl on these boards who have also gone directly thru solaredge / had inverter diagnosed / replacement sent .. Tesla still needs to come out and replace it but at least that gets process going .. yes tesla does not have good rep for timely service in this...

with just solar unless there is a setting in the tesla to prevent export to grid (i'm not familiar with non pW tesla systems) it would be difficult to not export .. you would have to run the pv (panels) only when your household consumption is higher than you pv production (not very practical)...

do you have power wall(s) ? if so as stated above you can turn off main service breaker (to grid) and "island" you system . zero chance of exporting if you are a zero risk person like me if you like to live dangerous . . you can just switch it all on and export / claim ignorance if anyone calls...

i don't think the home gateway or any system I know of would know not to export to grid due to work being done upstream ... if grid is available and there is excess pv it will export

far as i know green light band is either on / off / or pulsing at a various rates they can pulse at times so slowly that you have to really watch them to see that they are not steady on

yes in hindsight 3 pw would have fit perfect on wall and a loaded roof of pv panels would have been awesome ... but could be worse we could be saying "i wish i would have bought that tesla system last year before prices went up / nem maybe changed / e rates up"
