    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

if you look here, Tesla explicitly prohibits sales to third parties: https://www.tesla.com/support/leasing/lease-end-options " Purchase Your Tesla You may be eligible to purchase your leased Tesla. Review your lease agreement to see if you qualify. Eligibility Model 3 and Model Y are not...

Do you see your wipers from seat?

I have a Nov. 2021 Model Y LR, and I can see the wiper arm from the drivers seat. The car has been sitting for 24 hrs in the garage. They were set to automatic, so I turned them off and waited 5 minutes. I could still see it. Also tried carwash mode and still visible. Part of the passenger...

Wiki FSD Beta v11.x: Anticipation & Discussion

I agree that using neural nets to generate the heuristic is POC.

Wiki FSD Beta v11.x: Anticipation & Discussion

I took all that to mean that the Euclidean heuristic is being replaced with a better heuristic that is generated by the NN and used in the tree search. That doesn't preclude the coarse search algorithm from using a mcts with the Euclidean distance or some similar weight function.

    Home charging advice

There is an adapter available that converts the Tesla proprietary wall connector to the standard J1772 connector. With this you can use the Tesla wall connector to charge other evs. This is not the adapter that Tesla sells to convert level 2 chargers to the Tesla connector on the car.

Wiki FSD Beta v11.x: Anticipation & Discussion

They might be using Monte Carlo tree search for the coarse search part. It's supposedly the state of the art for heuristic path planning searches. The coarse search avoids local minima but can be too slow on a fine grid. Once the coarse search finds a convex domain, the continuous optimization...

Heretic! Of course it will be with cameras only.

    10.8 FSD

Elon says they are at the end for their current method of generating a vector space from the camera images. According to him, FSD Beta V11 will have a whole new neural net that generates the vector space directly. All these 10.x release just seem to be stalling until they can get V11 out.

10.8--SSDD. These guys are flailing. As Elon just put it, the procedural vector space code has hit a local maximum.

    10.8 FSD

On limited access highways it will be the same NOA whether you disable FSD Beta or not. You could temporarily opt out of Beta to return to the production version of NOA. It can take some time to get the new download after opting out, though.
  12. T

    10.8 FSD

It will be vision only NOA even if you have radar on your car.
  13. T

    10.8 FSD

It's not. It's coming in V11 which Elon says is another major rewrite of the neural nets. Apparently the building of the vector space is currently done in procedural code from a "bag of points with probabilities" the neural net generates. He says V11 will build the vector space directly using...

2021 MY LR trade in value?

I sold my 2013 P85+ to Carvana. They beat Tesla's offer by $10,000 and Carmax's by about $3000. It was pretty painless. They sent someone out to inspect the car, and he had the check with him. It was a pretty cursory inspection. As long as your car is as you describe it, there should be no...

2021 MY LR trade in value?

Carbuyerusa.com offered me $65,300 for my Model Y Long Range with no options and 300 miles. It's a 2022 (November), but their drop down list only went up to 2021. So it would probably go for a little more if I contacted them and updated the year to 2022. The wife wanted to get rid of the car...

Pre-refresh S / X now officially known as “Legacy” in terms of software

Good to know. I'm still waiting for my holiday update on FSD Beta for my legacy Model S. Currently on 2021.36.8.10.

Pre-refresh S / X now officially known as “Legacy” in terms of software

Legacy Model S/X don't get vision based autopark either, even though green was able to enable it on a rooted Model S.

    Holiday Update

My Model Y long range from November doesn't have matrix headlights.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

No. But they did just pick one. He said they don't know which one is correct if they disagree, so what do they do now when vision is wrong? They have no way to detect this. At least if they had radar they would know they disagreed and that something was wrong rather than just blindly proceeding...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

"Pure vision, especially when using explicit photon count, is much better than radar+vision, as the latter has too much ambiguity – when radar & vision disagree, it is not clear which one to believe"-- Elon Musk. This is pretty appalling. They don't know which one is correct so they'll just...

Any 2021 Model S Long Range Refresh with a Dragy?

Because of the weight shift to the rear on hard acceleration they can only put about 170 kw of power to the front wheels during 0 to 60. The raven performance can put about 400 kw to the rear wheels while the refresh long range is about 250 kw. So if you look at the ratio of the total power...

    2020 P100D vs 2022 Standard Non-Plaid

Highly unlikely they disable one of the motors for sport mode. Then it's either rwd if they disable the front motor, or it has a massive torque vector if they disable one side of the rear motors. Most likely they just adjust the power curve in software. But the plaid performance in sport...
  25. T

    2020 P100D vs 2022 Standard Non-Plaid

The combined power of the front and rear motors of the raven performance at 110 mph is about 500 kw (172.5 + 330.5). That's about 670 hp which is the combined hp of the refreshed model s long range. So up to 110 mph the raven will pull harder than the refresh model s. Because the refresh has...

0-60 MPH for new Long Range Model S WITH and WITHOUT "Drag Strip Mode"

From a quick search on the web, both cars seem to trap at about the same speed over the 1/4 mile, but the raven's et is 0.5 sec faster. and it's about 5 car lengths ahead. Over a 1/2 mile the refresh long range would probably prevail because it's horsepower doesn't fall off as fast as the raven's.

    Lost FSD

I have not worked for a large company, but I am a CEO, and it would never occur to me, out of the blue, to issue a blanket email like this. If I had an issue with someone, I would deal with them directly. This makes it sound like there is a pervasive problem, or he's giving a heads up. Maurer...

    Lost FSD

Like I said this is all kind of obvious, so you have to wonder what precipitated such an email at this time. A manager did ignore Musk's instructions when designing the Model 3.

    Lost FSD

The autonomous, $25,000 Tesla will have no steering wheel or pedals, per Elon. He's now forcing managers out who don't want to follow his orders. Had that been the case before, the Model 3 wouldn't have had a steering wheel. Of course, that might have increased the urgency to finish FSD or...

You have 3 days / 100 miles to report delivery issues through the service menu of the Telsa app (add pictures and text to describe damage). I had a minor dent and a scratch. I took delivery, and I have an appointment to get it repaired in a couple of weeks.

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

I think this is the type of branching they seek to avoid. Is the car in a neighborhood with sparse traffic, then it's ok to start to turn when the other car starts turn. I think it's safer/easier at this point to just have a single criterion, only turn when there is a clear gap to make the turn.
  36. T

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

In some scenarios even waiting until they start their turn could be problematic. In the original example of an unprotected left on a two lane road with opposing traffic, a large vehicle turning left in front of you might obscure your view of other vehicles behind it. So rather than trying to...

    Tesla FSD Beta Release 10.5 2021.36.8.8 - 10.5.1?

Bummer. It's still the .36 branch.
  38. T

Beta doesn't appear to recognize turn signals yet. Also, I suppose it's safer to assume the turn signal might be on by accident.

  40. T

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

You're saying because it wasn't explicitly stated in the comprehensive release notes, that FSD doesn't do it? That's absence of evidence, not evidence of absence.
  41. T

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

That's kind of circular reasoning. How do you know the car doesn't reverse?
  42. T

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

How do you know they were confused? Musk said it would eventually do this.
  43. T

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

I think it was in this thread, but someone already reported that their car reversed after pulling out. The car indicated it was still in drive, so if you override with the accelerator the car would probably go forward.

Yeah, I was specifically addressing Model S which was the question.
  46. T

    Tesla FSD Beta Release 10.5 2021.36.8.8 - 10.5.1?

I think only the refreshed Model S has the vision autopark. I tried it with my 2019 Model S, and It still uses the ultrasonic sensor, between two cars method.
  47. T

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

You keep replying about what it does now. Your question was how could they fix it? You said you turn left or right. FSD could also approach the turns at an angle as you do. They just don't. That still means the front of the car has to extend beyond the hedges for you to be able to see around...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

I don't see how what I've suggested wouldn't work at these intersections. You still seem to be hung up on having to remain perpendicular to the cross street. By turning ahead of time, you could easily get the b-pillar camera closer to the intersection than the forward looking cameras when you...
