    FSD vs Stopped School Bus

One feature I would like to see added is to move over a lane when several cars are merging into the highway instead of trying to merge with them. Like a human does. I have seen it behave that way but rarely.

    FSD vs Stopped School Bus

Agree which is why I included: "Thats not to say FSD shouldn't have let him in but he sounds like he had no right to be pissed." A poor driving behavior are drivers who when merging on the highway don't look properly and assume they can just barge their way onto the highway. Not excusing FSD...

    FSD vs Stopped School Bus

Shouldn't the Model S have adjusted their speed to account for cars in the right most lane as he tried to merge? Did you notice if he was even paying attention to your car as he merged? And I don't mean by only using the mirror but actually looking. Thats not to say FSD shouldn't have let him...

    FSD vs Stopped School Bus

Once you open FSD up to everyone lack of support for school zones and school buses will definitely get the attention of regulators and the media should there be an accident. Especially if it's clear Tesla knew about the limitation and didn't tell new FSD users about it.

    FSD vs Stopped School Bus

This is a well known limitation along with not handling school zone signs. IMO both need to be working before wide scale FSD release.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

I was responding to S4WRXTTCS. I am in complete agreement with you. Robotaxi is many parts of the country will require some level of pothole avoidance especially when they start to appear after the first thaw/freeze cycles.
  8. A

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

The problem with this statement is the first time a driver encounters a new pothole is when driver has the greatest chance to risk tire/suspension damage. And when I avoid the pothole in the future I have the option to either disengage or exit FSD. Since I want Tesla to be aware of the...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Avoiding large potholes is something FSD will need to do. In late winter/early spring my disengagement rate easily doubles as I dodge them. This is the one point I agree with the OP but realize it will take awhile to be addressed.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Why would your percentage offend me, seems like an odd thing to say? I'm assuming your comments above are referring to city/street FSD driving since I don't see why you would want to adjust where the car is in the lane. An example would be helpful.

    FSD Beta 10.12

Is the Stop light that is controlling the road your intersecting with very visible to FSD from the road you're on? If yes FSD may be responding to the Stop light when it turns green for the other road. I have this problem.

    FSD Beta 10.12

Really good to hear but then you have a simple curve near me that I have to adjust the speed to 25 otherwise the car will cross over the yellow line and make a jarring right hand turn around a slight incline. This is one of the first tests I do when I get a new release. It's actually gotten...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

It's important to remember that FSD/NoA won't drive like you do and if you expect that you will be disappointed. Everyone disagrees with some decisions but by stating 50% you lose some credibility.
  14. A

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

While I often complain about FSD calling it garbage seems a bit extreme. Today I did a 75 mile highway drive (greater Boston) and my only complaint was it tried to merge onto the highway at too high a speed since it was rush hour and traffic was slow. Otherwise I much prefer it over driving...

Didn't you know all releases are game changers!!

    FSD Beta 10.13

Just a reminder this is a thread on 10.13.
  17. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Disengaging by quickly gapping on the brake is a pretty normal approach but when FSD has already started the unexpected turn getting the car back in a safe direction is the prime directive IMO.

    FSD Beta 10.12

10.12.2 has resolved several intersections that haven't worked properly since my first FSDbeta build last October. Gives me hope for the future. However, 10.12.2 also displays some of the worst behavior I have ever seen. Most noticeable are totally unexpected turns where the planner without...

    FSD Beta 10.12

I just alternate with a hand on 4 or 8 with the weight pulling down and never worry about any nags.

    FSD Beta 10.12

Perhaps if it worked at least for me.. For me I've intentionally tried to cause the camera to warn me
  21. A

10.12.2 Eye Tracking Shut Me Down

What I find interesting is my camera monitoring doesn't work. On FSD City/Streets I can look away as long and never get an alert. I do wear sunglasses during the day most of the time but not a hat. Of course that doesn't apply to driving at night. Go figure. Early VIN Model Y.

    FSD Beta 10.12

Good suggestion I have submitted this to the town along with the photo via a public app that includes issues/problems with traffic lights. Let's see what happens when they triage the issue #.
  23. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

FSD will run this Red Light whenever my car is first in line after stopping for the red light. When the Red Light turns green FSD will immediately try and enter the intersection. I've confirmed this on multiple occasions. Here is a picture of the traffic light circled in blue that is...

    FSD Beta 10.12

In early spring when the ice thaws and large potholes get born and I have to disengage pretty much every drive. Certainly affects disengagement metrics Tesla keeps.

    Service Center - Bedford NH

Tesla certainly has a problem to address. I've been without AC for 10 days. Finally got an appointment for this week. Could be a lot worse if I lived in a hotter climate.
  26. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

I'd like to see future releases address John Wooden's famous quote "be quick but don't hurry". "if you hurry, you are more likely to make mistakes, but if you're not quick, you won't get things done." Often FSD has the right idea but hesitates and fails to take the appropriate action. Other...

    FSD Beta 10.12

After some additional drives I've decided not to use 10.12.2 in and out of my neighborhood. The problem is I have 3 turns all within a tenth of mile of each other and FSD accelerates too quickly only to have to hit the brakes hard to slow down for the next turn. Good example of a release...
  28. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Agree with this but I still find that curves to the right, particularly up a short incline, are a problem and the car typically doesn't slow down like human drivers do. The result is getting too close to the yellow line or crossing over.
  29. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Sometimes even left of center. The difficulty is the tight and blind turns. FSD just has to assume a car is coming in the opposite direction and stay far right. In time FSD will handle this winding road by doing just that. I also bike this road and most cars don't even bother to try and...
  30. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

10.12.2 Drive. Unmarked winding country road failure, I've tried this road several times and FSD is always terrible. The road is narrow and the car MUST stay very close to the right hand side of the unmarked road around corners. Typically at 15mph. I have to disengage around any corner...

    FSD Beta 10.13

Yes multi lane although people don't drive it that way
  32. A

    FSD Beta 10.13

Looking forward then to 10.13 since when there are no cars in the roundabout FSD still stops before entering the large roundabout I take every day. And the ride around the rotary after entering is much worse than it used to be. Jerky throughout. In general though 10.12.2 is better then the...
  33. A

    FSD Beta 10.13

Totally agree. Hopefully as FSD matures these situations will diminish over time.
  34. A

    FSD Beta 10.13

At some point when FSD goes wide release (non beta) Tesla will need this resolved. What happens when a non beta tester just accepts a UPL and an accident results?
  35. A

    FSD Beta 10.13

Hopefully but not comforting when Elon says it will solve his left hand turn "most of the time". So what happens the rest of the time? Turns right and reroutes? Thats not a bad thing.
  36. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

It's been changing speeds on the highway for me awhile since at least late year.
  37. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Is the "left repeater" the same as the "B-Pillar"? The problem comes when the obstruction is so bad FSD needs to creep the car into the intersecting road so far it's impeding on coming traffic. I have several T-intersections where this occurs and in that situation you're basically screwed...
  38. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

IMO this is the achilles heal of FSD. The reliance on the B-pillar camera and the fact the forward cameras cannot see 90 degrees left/right is going to diminish FSD when accidents get reported once you have owners who rely on FSD without carefully watching every turn.
  39. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Congratulations to all the new testers. Just a few items to be aware of on your initial drives if you don't follow the threads closely FSD assumes right on red and ignores any signs that say otherwise Beware of potholes since they are not avoided Speed bump recognition. My experience is less...

    FSD Beta 10.12

I have had a similar experience on a 1/2 mile stretch of road where not only would FSD phantom break 5-10 times each direction but FSD would never even reach 30mph the regular speed limit. Didn't matter if I tried increasing the speed. All fixed in 10.12.2.

NTHSA Investigating Tesla over growing Phantom Braking complaints

The phantom breaking issue has improved considerably for me over the past couple of months. 10.12.2 in particular has pretty much eliminated the problem. When phantom breaking does happen it's very minor and usually attributed to FSD over reacting to a car coming the opposite way.
  42. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

I sense a pattern here. There are other posts with similar feedback. It would be helpful if FSD was fine tuned enough so you could tell the difference between creeping and actually going. I know I certainly drive in a manner that one can easily tell the difference.
  43. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

A main reason for disengagements for me is not knowing if FSD has actually initiated a turn or just creeping forward to help FSD decide to go/stay? I suspect some of my disengagements are actually thinking FSD has started the turn when it's still in the creep phase. What do others think?
  44. A

10.12.2 Eye Tracking Shut Me Down

Does the eye tracking happen on just City/Streets or does it also track highway driving with FSD enabled?
  45. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Received 10.12.2 today. First drive impression: Moderate rain (local city/streets) so FSD would not even engage. I'd call that a major disappointment but not surprising. 2nd drive impression Good No phantom braking on the 1/2 road that has always had significant braking and would never...
  46. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

A key part of the FSDbeta program is based on "driver attention" so not sure I understand your point. Would you mind clarifying.
  47. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Sorry to say these are old posts so no longer relevant.
  48. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

Curious to know how fast the car entered the roundabout? Did the car slow down to negotiate around the rotary once it entered? It will be interesting to hear back from you if this behavior improves over the next week or two. I often find that to be the case with a new build.
  49. A

    FSD Beta 10.12

I don't know why the worry about when you'll receive the latest update. It's pretty clear Tesla has a dartboard that rotates among the FSD engineers and the results speak for themselves:).
  50. A

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Agree but I find it interesting that the most dangerous turn I take every day is a right hand turn since the B-Pillar camera cannot see properly and wants to launch into the intersection when cars are 90 feet away. I would have been hit many times by now if I didn't disengage.
