Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

If it ticks all the other boxes for you and the car is definately still under Tesla warranty (4 yrs / 50K miles whihcever happens first) I personally would go for it. If there are plenty of others around I would swerve it. If you did get it the first thing i would do is go to your nearest...

Has anyone had any difficulty getting warranty repairs on failed (or failing) 2018 Model S DLR Daylight Running Lights?

The offside one is definately gone, nearside is going but I wouldn't put it past Tesla to try and wriggle on it. You'll never be 100% until Tesla actually have the car in their hands, so you'll only be 100% if the current owner books the car in and gets them done. There's also a delay between...

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

That's clever, and certainly beyond my capabilities, but won't the download pick up from where it let off the next time you connect to the wifi? Then when it's finished it'll just update in the car?

Charging speeds with CCS cable - public chargers

The supplied cable is a Type 2 for AC use, not fast DC charging using a CCS connector. For AC 11kW is correct, and no faster charger would be untherered - i.e. expecting you to provide your own cable. Although they may be capable of more, very often 50kW is the max delivered due to power supply...

LOL. I'd much rather the heating/seat controls came back, but the unofficial release notes suggest this isn't happening for us poor forgotten portrait screen "legacy" owners :(

Newbie seriously considering leasing UK - sense check

It doesn't work like that I'm afraid. The interest on the loan is front end loaded, so you aren't eating into the capital at anything like that rate. This is also at the same time that the car is taking the biggest depreciation hit, and put the two together can result in a nasty negative equity...

Newbie seriously considering leasing UK - sense check

You can, but the crucial difference is at the end of the PCP if the car is worth less than anticipated you walk away and the finance company takes the hit. With a traditional loan you always have to keep an eye on the settlement figure and hope the car is worth more overwise trading in/up...

Returning a lease - TFS issues

The Tesla showroom staff, generally speaking, are much more likely to be wrong than right about anything apart from than the colour of the car in showroom.

Reliable v enthusiastic but wrong advice on some forums

I've been on the FB groups for over 5 years now and have largely given up,unless I see something so daft it needs a swift correction. My biggest gripe though is the abject laziness shown by so many, just RTFM would be a great start for most. I know that sometimes it's not upto date but the...

    Insurance

Not at all, I consider that good financial planning. Add to that the cost of regulation. Typical commission rates at 10% aren't enough on the average premium to over the overhead. Most Insurers make very little underwriting profit, it's the investment return on the premium their after. Plus the...

    [UK]2022.4

Can only speak as an S driver. As far as I can tell - nothing is back. The burying of the seat heaters and demist/rear screen are the biggest PITA consequences of V11. All 2022.4.5. brought me was the ability to move the dashcam button down to the task bar or whatever you're supposed to call it...

    Vanarama BP Pulse deal

The Supercharger network is incredibly reliable and easily the standard others need to aim for. That's not to say it's 100%, but heads and shoulders above the rest. As mentioned above Instavolt usally get positive feedback, and with the rest it can be very patchy. The best advice is always to...

    Vanarama BP Pulse deal

Intrigued as to why you chose not to have a home charger installed Everything I've read about them has been people moaning about how they either aren't working or don't deliver the rate of charge expected (in fairness that could be people not understanding how the car will limit the charge rate...

Tesla's default postion is to share as little information as is possible, and even more so if the information relates to something negative.

    Uncorking 75Ds in the UK

This is very off topic but based on cars that use TeslaFi and are AP2 you are up to date.

    [UK] 2021.44.30

Me too, and I can't be bothered to go and read the release notes when it's finished. It's a minor update only.
  26. DJP31

    Uncorking 75Ds in the UK

It will be eligible from a build perspective, and may well be uncorked already as the codes suggest. I first raised this with Tesla at the end of Aug '17 and they confirmed cars built from April '17 had the required hardware and from June'17 came uncorked. The BP02 suggests you are already...

    Tesla buying money guilt :-(

You are consolidating two assets into one and not increasing you asset/liability split so nothing wrong there. A purist might argue you are increasing risk by reducing your diversification (i.e. a bike & car provides better financial balance against falls in asset values in the personal transfer...

    Uncorking 75Ds in the UK

I think you've be fed BS. My '17 S75D wss one of the first to be uncorked and it required a SC visit. This was not only because the car had to have a physical inspection but because the software changes needed to be done with a stable connection and not over wi-fi. I have heard of the firmware...

    Insurance

The relationship with DL goes back to 2017, well before the Model 3 arrived in the UK. I'm not 100% with the accuracy of this but I believe a Model S owner lived next door to to a senior guy at DL and approached him to seee if they'd be interested in settting up an arrangement. When it first...

Newbie seriously considering leasing UK - sense check

That is tempting! If you can capitalise on the crazy used market then why not, and a 2021 car will be better than a 2020 car anyway, purely by dint of Tesla's continual improvements - or rectiifcation fo design faults, depending on how you look at it :D. Probably a mixture of both to be fair...

Newbie seriously considering leasing UK - sense check

Ask them how they felt a few years ago when Tesla overnight dropped the price of the Model s & X Performance models by £30k. 😭 Leasing companies are businesses like any other and are there to make a profit. It's all about managing risk and where your tolerance and capacity for loss levels are...
  32. DJP31

Newbie seriously considering leasing UK - sense check

It has been factored in - the car needs to have £9k of equity just for the OP to breakeven. At the moment second hand values are crazy, but that will change and normality will return. In normal times you are highly unlikely to see a car over achieve it's anticipated residual value by the margin...
  33. DJP31

Newbie seriously considering leasing UK - sense check

I forgot the insurance bit. Didn't make any difference to my premium in the slightest. Your car will be out of date within month's of getting it, if not sooner. Tesla continually improve/change things and if you want to keep at the cutting edge you will defo want to change it every few years...

Newbie seriously considering leasing UK - sense check

@dog299 like you I have always PCP'd and never leased. Until this time when getting my second MS. When I crunched my numbers the total cost over the term was £10k more expensive on PCP. I did not think I would achieve £10k over the ballon payment and hence leased. The market is crazy at the...

where will we be in 3 years time?

Wow, if true that's a major turnaround from the previous position of camera only. Do you have a source for the info?
  36. DJP31

where will we be in 3 years time?

Not really, they make changes all the time so it's virtually impossible to make that comparison - there could have been and probably were any number of changes made during 2020.
  37. DJP31

where will we be in 3 years time?

When I bought my first Model S at the end of 2016 I thought there would be more competition 4 years later. There wasn't, so I bought the same car again, except it had years worth of improvements to it - better motors, better suspension etc etc. The charging public charging network is barely any...

    Legacy v11

I have just got 2021.44.25.2 on my 2020 Raven MS. Too soon to pass final judgement but already don't like one aspect. The ability to one touch the seat heaters and rear/front screen demister seems to have gone. That's just stupid IMO, a feature like that should be one touch.

Wiki [UK] V11 UI Changes and Features

Just got V11 on my 2020 Raven MS. Unless I'm missing something I cannot now turn on or regulate the seat heaters or demist/rear screen without addtional inputs. Basic functions like that should be one touch. My wife is forever adjusting the heat so I seem to first have to split climate controls...

Wiki UK 2021 Orders and Pending Deliveries

I'm afraid that feeling isn't restricted to M3 owners. There is nothing else out there that offers the same overall package IMO. I'm on my second MS and have a test drive of an Audi etron GT this week. It's slower, less range, has a boring interior, not as much tech - nothing going for it...

UK 2021 Model 3 Q4 Collection and Delivery Experiences

I don't know where you read that but it's nonsense. There is absoultely no problem at all using the full capacity of the battery - that's what it's there for. It is best not to leave it sitting at low SoC, especially in cold weather as the usable capacity will reduce and you could end up will...
  47. DJP31

UK 2021 Model 3 Q4 Collection and Delivery Experiences

No. The car uses a fixed Wh/m multiplied by the usable battery. Confusion further exists as the car shows the US EPA rating, whereas the website uses the UK WLTP. That makes it look like car has already suffered battery degredation, which of course it hasn't. If range is important e.g. on a...

UK 2021 Model 3 Q4 Collection and Delivery Experiences

Mine has a similar seat setting, be careful if you have a passenger sat behind you. I've nearly crushed/trapped a couple of people
  49. DJP31

UK 2021 Model 3 Q4 Collection and Delivery Experiences

That's a fair point given you'll never own the car. OTOH, it usually costs between £500-£1k (depending on what you have done and the level of prep) and over the lifetime of the lease that's not a lot, especially if you want to keep it looking really good.
  50. DJP31

Delivery without USB-C ports and wireless phone charging

They've paid a price they could have completely avoided with the #BatteryGate & #ChargeGate mess. A class action suit, which they lost, and disaffecting many of their most loyal and early adopter customers. All could have been avoided by engaging with the customer base instead of total silence...
