If this is what you want, if I were you I would bring it up at every point in the process. At the site assessment, when you receive the design, and chat with the installers first thing when they are on site. And it never hurts to be overly friendly or generous to the installers.

For the VPP here in New England, during an event ALL exports from the Powerwall and solar whether feeding the grid OR the home count towards the kW average used to calculate compensation. I guess they figure if the home wasn’t generating those kWs used by the home they would come from the grid...

Yup, you’ll be happy with the setup. The Tesla Solar Gateway doesn’t really care what brand inverter or panels it is connected to and handles the loads of any of those plus the home and the PWs equally.

All they can get is output of 3 PWs at 5kw each + solar output (which is later in the afternoon on a 12kw array*, VPP events from 4-7pm) so only probably another 4kw or so. Anything being generated by solar and Powerwalls down to 20% SOC. I have seen a couple VPP events where it seemed they capped my exports at 5kw, 10kw, or 15kw. But there have also been many more that take all they can get for three hours.

When my SolarEdge inverter failed last May at one year old, I called SolarEdge directly instead of the installer (Tesla) and the inverter shipped from them within 48 hours. It took about 5 days to get to the east coast though as they shipped it UPS ground from CA.

I told our Tesla install crew I was fine with external conduit to our Powerwalls but they still ran the wiring through the walls behind them in the garage. Some guys/crews just like doing it their way. 🤷‍♂️

2022.8.2 broke my charge port door. Closes just fine on its own, but won’t open for button pushes on the UI.

The new arrangement also requires Tesla to coordinate and run a VPP in that area without benefit to them since the consumer gets the compensation. I can see why Tesla has chosen not to participate.

Call the Tesla Energy Support phone number instead. You’ll get a better response. The last good number from about a year ago I have for them is (877) 731-7652. They have been known to change their support numbers from time to time so if that one doesn’t work look for another.
