Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Feels like with Covid, inflation, fed rates, oil & energy prices, recession worries, supply chain, chips, etc....that the market has way too many levers to do what they want. They'll continue to play us like a violin and I just don't see how we'll see up from down anytime soon.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Tesla has admitted the goal of 1M miles for batteries and motors. That's arguably 5x more than conventional ICE. Not all components will last this long. But don't you see the significance of having this conversation vs traditional manufacturers wondering at how many miles the motor brushes...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This often overlooked difference in business models (among others) is a key first principles win for Tesla. Not relying on low quality components that are designed with limited life expectancy to maximize dealer and OEM profitability. The ability for Tesla to say that the best service /...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The only positive companies/brands are Tesla (+53%), Genesis (+25.9%), McLaren (+23.3%), Polestar (+858.3%), Chrysler (+95.4%), Porsche (+2.8%). My thoughts : How in the world did Chrysler do that? Where's the FUD article about Polestar the Tesla killer?

    Vision only following distance

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I didn't know follow distance wasn't functional in FSD beta in city streets. Explains a lot. I have re-calibrated recently, but obviously that wouldn't change anything!

Agree about the author and appreciate the post, honestly. But, while Dan seems to be getting it, he has more confidence in the domain- the “street”s abilities / motives than I do…

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Interesting. The "street" seems to often ignore reality. They zig instead of zag. They push FUD nonstop. Yet I'm supposed to believe they are "laser focused" on anything based in reality with Tesla? Maybe they are hoping June might have shown a hint of their FUD so they can proclaim it from...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The $25K car evaporated into the ether once inflation reared it's ugliness. Apply the actual 12%+ inflation numbers for new vehicles to that number. So, $25K in 2021, becomes $28K in 2022. If it's announced in 2023, it's now $31.4K, but the backlog means you can't take delivery sooner than...

Unless Tesla slows down their innovating.... I just don't see that happening. Wouldn't both FSD/robotaxis and Optimus all have to be failures for 2025+ not to be more exciting? Hell, I'm really anxious to hear the Master Plan III, and that likely applies more to <2026 than after!
  13. insaneoctane

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Hmmmm. So your projections show the shares I purchased at $1,050 will stay underwater until 2024? Error. Does not compute.
  14. insaneoctane

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

If true, it will be yet another significant loss to this forum/ thread. I'll reserve judgment on why until we confirm.
  15. insaneoctane

    Don’t summon your vehicle

FSD is still in beta. During this time YOU are fully responsible for the cars actions. Tesla believes that, in the future, they will eventually be willing to be liable for FSD behavior. It will require FSD to maintain memory of curbs (permanence?) that it saw before they are too close to see...

    Don’t summon your vehicle

Smart summon is a risky party trick at this point in its development. I quit using it exactly in fear of what happened to OP. Knowing Tesla won't fix the damage incurred while using Smart summon is really all you need to know. Since, unlike AP, I'm not in the car to correct its mistakes...no...

    Vision only following distance

Thanks for your reply, but I disagree. I've found notable change since using AP on the freeway with RADAR disabled. One second (is "one Mississippi") behind a vehicle with the maximum "7" setting at freeway speeds is ridiculous IMO.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Tesla has repeatedly allowed their workers the opportunity to unionize...but is also clear that their compensation plan will change and they will lose their stock options in order to do so. It's financially in their best interest to NOT unionized solely from this aspect of their current...

    Vision only following distance

I've got a 2018 TM3 with RADAR, but FSD beta installed so it's disabled. Been evaluating FSD beta for many months now and am very unimpressed specifically with following distance. It often follows too closely with the distance setting on max. It's also quite inconsistent, sometimes the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

My point is that there is increasing information indicating that the 4680 ramp and Giga outputs are behind. I have seen too many responses saying this is all expected and everything is fine. Maybe long-term, but if Q2 numbers are lower than expectations beyond what's already associated with...

I’m surprised by the ease with which many on this thread are willing to assume Elon’s comments mean nothing or simply indicate business as usual. I’ll be the first to admit we are lacking clarity and real specific details, but as investors it seems prudent to consider all the possibilities and...

Agree with your comments. The political aspect that impacts Tesla is this: California is unquestionably one of the bluest states and also has some of the best solar irradiance in the continental US. If California struggles to offer the political support and fortitude necessary for this...

Just a different way to view (some) of the data. I, personally, found the original chart more interesting because I don't think the story ends here and liked to see what history has offered from here. I found it insightful to see that in only 7 other times in history have we ever not improved...

I have a Supercharger profitability question for the thread....Does someone want to take a swag at projecting an ROI for a newly installed SC today? Pick the state of your choice. I am not giving up any of my shares. Even just some of them. This is true even though I spent my last dry powder at 1,050 and then again at 850. If we end up in a longer recession and nothing seems to turn around, name another tech/growth stock with the position TSLA has....huge backlog and...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I agree with many of your observations. I thought similar thoughts, but then wondered if Tesla has chosen to not prioritize smoothness for turns, acceleration, deceleration, etc. until it drives correctly. Get the fundamental actions first, then they can iterate/tweak like crazy to minimize...

Does anyone here have a good understanding of which elements of the technology that Tesla revealed on battery day that Tesla is allowing "others" to use? Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

How long can this continue? (I hope a long time...) Tesla's are FAST, GREEN, HIGH TECH and PRETTY. Competition will keep trying to offer some or most of that, but not to the degree Tesla's do. I think we'll have FSD to add before the competition is able to offer almost just as fast, just as...

FSD drivers disengage for different reasons. If I'm brave enough to try FSD Beta with my wife in the car, I will disengage at the slightest onset of atypical behavior vs when I am alone I let the car make more mistakes and click to report more shortcomings. I usually have plenty of cars around...
