    Any chauffeurs based around London/Heathrow?

Tesla Chelmsford used London-based EV Go for my last service visit.

    [UK] 2022.16.x

I experienced a weird coma with mine on 2022.16.1, where charging continued to work (though Intelligent Octopus app had problems waking car) while both screens remained off on entry and Tesla pp control stopped. I tend to hold the steering wheel more after an update too ;)

    Insurance

I hadn't heard of Flow until now, but quickly found out they don't offer monthly rolling insurance for my 2018 S, but an uncompetitive annual premium.

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

I still don't believe there's any visual recognition of national speed limit signs. Just database. You can tell from the latency between the moment of passing the sign and the displayed limit in the dash.

Gridserve Charger Sites in UK [megathread]

GridServe’s prices are two-tier at the Norwich Compact hub, with 39 p/kWh for 7/22 kW AC & 45 p/kWh for both 100 kW ChaDeMO and 350 kW CCS. Elsewhere on their Electric Highway network it’s also 39 p/kWh for up to 60 kW chargers.

Unfortunately the Gen.1 13-A was already taken, leaving just the 32-A blue Commando Gen.1 adapter for @Jite. Hopefully seeing my conversation chat.

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

I've seen places with the new 2022 Nav where the speed limits seem to derive from TomTom's iQ routing analysis of typical vehicle speeds. Consequently there are sections of 40 mph shown on a section of road that has been 30 mph for 10 years, just because that's where vehicles speed beyond limit...

    Alternatives to a tesla *gasp*

My own S is in its 5th year now, and I find under similar situation my thoughts turning to used 2021 LR/P Raven S, the last models featuring round steering wheel and chrome trim. More energy efficient, better build, quieter. Is hard seeing any other manufacturer as better really in the wait for...

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Since it’s a software limiter I suspect it’s much the same across all models, i.e. 0.486 G peak acceleration and around 7.2 seconds to 60 mph. That acceleration is actually enough to receive a ‘harsh acceleration‘ penalty on most telematic boxes.
  15. Pink Duck

Tesla locking loaner cars in chill mode?

Worth remembering who foots the bill for the loaner tyres and the effect that Chill Mode has on tread ablation.

    [UK] 2022.16.x

Received 2022.16.1.1 on Thursday 9th myself (2018 S HW2.1 MCU2 AP3 FSD), with nav update EU-2022.12-13877 received between then and now. Did anyone receive the 2022 Nav update before 2022.16?

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

I previously sent feedback to TomTom about their missing speed limits on roundabouts. A while later they did reappear through their app, which shows the detected limit while driving. So it’s just likely poor quality data from source providers at work there.

    Auto recirculation mode (Pollution control?)

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

Could be a proviso of Musk's recent request to globally halt recruitment. If the staff were on probationary terms then most unfortunate indeed. Or related to recent policy change to reduce front-of-house staff to zero, leaving customers bewildered.

Navigate On Autopilot Fork Initiation now required in Europe. (UN/ECE Reg. 79)

Would be good to see the UK diverge from UN/ECE to help their case. Haven't seen that happen as yet per recent tracker publication, other than the curious self-driving 37 mph (60 km/h really) announcement.
  21. Pink Duck

Navigate On Autopilot Fork Initiation now required in Europe. (UN/ECE Reg. 79)

The UK still voluntarily adheres to UN/ECE automotive regulation though, which is why I lost auto-exit today. It's not an EU-specific thing, even though that's where it originates. I got the sense his focus on US first was more to improve FSD for a whole region such that it could be...

Navigate On Autopilot Fork Initiation now required in Europe. (UN/ECE Reg. 79)

He tweeted recently raising possibility again. May just be coincidental timing aligning with last regulation review in mid-March and the 2022.12 update arriving in June enforcing Reg. 79 per their recall request.

Navigate On Autopilot Fork Initiation now required in Europe. (UN/ECE Reg. 79)

Likely what Musk hinted at during one of the financial webcasts with the fix implemented in time for March, though only finding its way to UK vehicles now. It's frustrating to see the increasing development progress in the US, while ECE restrictions continue to throttle progress and endanger...

Cost for Supercharging Increased ? Where to find prices?

Absolutely no pricing at all for those with free supercharging included, though arguably that only matters for benefit of informing others who pay.

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

The thing that gets me with the Nav updates is that in driving previously faulty sections I often find their map editors fix most segments but usually forget one, so Speed Assist limit still drops and needs to be accelerated through to actual. Despite passing the absence of such a sign, daily...

Text from Tesla to schedule and inspection

Perhaps this is an instance of Tesla proactively reaching out due to automated remote diagnostic information about a non-recall issue? Albeit with initial typo in their usual rush.
  29. Pink Duck

Text from Tesla to schedule and inspection

Who do you think is more likely to send repeat text messages? The scammers, or Tesla? Lately there have been in-car pop-up messages about recalls. Will be interesting to see what Tesla Service make of it, and if indeed this was genuine all along.

All [new] home EV chargepoints will need smart chargers from next month [UK]

Tesla might argue that the smart charger is unnecessary for their vehicles, which are already capable of smart charging via API, e.g. Octopus Energy’s Intelligent Octopus tariff. Wouldn't surprise though if they just de-list the UMC from UK market either.

All [new] home EV chargepoints will need smart chargers from next month [UK]

It's not listed under Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme approved chargepoint model list - GOV.UK so probably worth having that installed before July.
  32. Pink Duck

Text from Tesla to schedule and inspection

The key is the “To unsubscribe from SMS, reply STOP.” bit, as that’s likely where the scammers make the cash, presumably through a higher rate reply-to number alias, or just establishing communication with the victims leading on to a request for payment in advance.
  33. Pink Duck

    Intelligent Octopus

Likely distinguished by being a lack of documented or public knowledge of the API part used, or a privileged-style token used by the app itself that is not exposed to third parties.

The usual electrical continuous current value is 80% of the rated cable capability, but of course that’s without water cooling. Yet 'Rated' is used for normal maximal operational use, within a 'Rated range' typically 10%. The 680 A needed to sustain 250 kW with a 100 kWh pack at low state of...

It would be great if someone could capture a supercharger label from GridServe Braintree. Norwich being a Compact forecourt and already requiring around 8 MW for public CCS/CHAdeMo/Type2 it wouldn't surprise if Tesla only has sufficient grid power there to 150 kW output. Braintree I expect...
